The cars in the collection are beautiful and you can see them for free which is nice of the owners to let people enjoy their collection. Eduardo explained to us the history behind the collection and gave us a lot of insight to further appreciate the collection. Would definitely go with plenty of time so you can truly take in all the detail and beauty of each vehicle.

If I could give it more stars I would! What an amazing, breathtaking array of cars! The main museum is open Thursday, Friday and Saturday and you can visit for free. We incidentally arrived at 1:15 and learned that for $10 per person we could get a tour at the large multistory building across the street. We thoroughly enjoyed the food tour and couldn’t believe that it was only $10!! The condition and maintenance of these cars is impeccable. The selection of cars includes rare models that you’ve probably never heard of. What a treat and a feast for the eyes. We concluded our day with a 3:45 tour of the train in the back with the California 100 car. Great example of how the upper class used to travel. We highly recommend this museum and hope you enjoy it as much as we did!

There are two collections of cars housed in separate buildings: one with free admission and another costing $10. The latter includes a two-hour guided tour and requires reservations. The reviews and pictures presented here are for the free collection. Each car is accompanied by a placard containing a detailed description of the vehicle (e.g., year, original purchase price, manufacturer, mechanical specifications, and notable historical ownership). The visit to the admission-free collection, along with reading all the placards, should take no more than two hours. My only suggestion to the operator is to replace all those obnoxiously LOUD mercury lights with quiet LED lighting so visitors can truly appreciate the lovely period-era music playing in the background. Note: the museum has very limited hours and was open just 3 days per week as of this review (Thu, Fri, Sat).

The main museum is open to the public without reservations, but there are more collections only available through reservations, so if you want to see it all, paln ahead. Wonderful showroom full of amazing cars from several decades, most from the 1920s. There is a steam locomotive on the side that has tours at 12:30 and 3:30, don't miss it. Truly a spectacular collection.

The museum is awesome, but if you go you have to do the $10, 2 hour tour in the building next door - that’s where the real show is. Exquisite cars and things from times long ago. 😀👍

Incredible collection of vintage cars. Immaculately presented in neat rows. A few modern classics as well. Free entry. Plenty of off street parking and all wheelchair accessible.

Kyle Irwin gave the most excellent tour of my entire life. You're a real gem. The museum has an abundant collection of history and the stories behind it is truly unique. I highly recommend taking your loved ones to see and experience the magical experience short of Willy Wonkas chocolate factory! If you consider yourself a true car enthusiast i double dogg dare you to take the tour. You'll thank me later

Free! To see the cars and train. A donation to keep it going helps. Always a great place to visit. When I visited on a Friday afternoon you need to show proof of Covid vaccination and wear a mask. The place is packed with cars. So the isles are wide enough so you can pass another person. It will be difficult to maintain 6 feet. At the time there were maybe 20 people so it was easy to turn around and see something else. So much to see. Very thankful to the dedicated people who keep this place alive.

Solid collection of some of the world’s most renown automobiles from the 1900s-1970s, ever! With free admission, it’s impossible to find any complaints. This place is great for any car enthusiasts, photographers, and family visits. There is a larger facility across the street that you can visit for $10 but you must make reservations ahead of time. Perhaps, we will make the visit soon!

Fascinating place to visit. Lots to see and learn about many aspects of automobiles. Also great collection of music boxes of all sizes and varieties. And the 3rd largest Wurlitzer organ in the world that will play for you without an organist. Definitely worth your time!

This part of the museum is free and definitely worth a visit. Check out the website to see when the tours of the train are scheduled. To get a full sense of the collection, I highly recommend scheduling your visit around the tours of the collection next door. It is only $10 currently and takes 2 hours. Note that a lot of the pictures in people's reviews are from this special tour so at least try to figure out the details how everything is situated to avoid disappointment.

I was fortunate to visit this incredible museum before they closed for the season earlier in the winter. It was off the beaten path and my relatives who lived in the area had never been there. Still, I decided to make the trip and it was well worth the drive! Vintage cars and organs aren’t a typical coupling but it works here. The history of auto manufacturing and sales along with the stories attached to their impressive collection on orchestrions, nickelodeons and organs gives a glimpse into the greater history of the turn of the last century and its innovations. Staged in the opulence and polish of a vintage dealership, it isn’t hard to imagine the pomp and circumstance that was car purchasing. No balloons or massive sale signs...all marble, mirrors and grand staircases. The docents there were so informative I actually started taking notes. Car and/or music enthusiasts will love this place but I urge anyone interested in the history of our country to make the trip if they are anywhere in the L.A. area.

You will love this place. I'm not a car enthusiast, but I love it here. The museum is free, but the Nethercutt Collection building is $10 and reservations are required. It is totally worth this price and much more. Cars are immaculate. They drive all of them on a regular basis. Stunning cars and one of the best collections. My favorite part is the very large collection of rare self-playing musical machines!!! The Wurlitzer Pipe Organ is spectacular to hear with its 5000 pipes. Made to be housed in silent movie theaters. They are all meticulously cared for. They are stunning. Also amazing collections of hood ornaments, dolls, coins, crystal figurines, David Winter Cottages, clocks, and antique furniture. The Nethercutts lived here for over 20 years and was one of the largest homes in the US. You get to see their dining table where they entertained with beautiful chandeliers. The private train cars in the back are beautiful. Amazing to see how the super wealthy lived. It's the kind of museum you will love to repeat.

If you love old cars, this is a must stop. They have an incredible collection of old cars, many in mint condition. They detail and paint jobs on these cars are extraordinary. They each have places that describe the car facts and owners over the years

Pretty extensive but needs pizzazz! The car collection is amazing. More for older car enthusiasts. If you want to attract a younger crowd, you gotta consult with Peterson museum for display ideas.

  • 5/5 Andrea S. 7 months ago on Google
The cars in this collection are not only beautifully restored, many have pedigrees of famous owners or are almost one of a kind. The side displays of car ornaments and other accoutrements, plus innovative mechanical items, are terrific. One example is a display of elegant cigarette holders and ashtrays custom designed for use in a vintage car. It was also fun to see cars we elderly people remember from our youth (well, not the really old cars!). I would have loved to see the inside of the railroad car but the tour starts at ten and we had a fiasco of needing gas, losing our credit card, and following a homeless man we thought had taken the credit card (my husband found it in his pocket later). Needless to say, we didn't make it to the tour! This museum is well worth the trip to Sylmar and a delight for all ages, even our grandchildren loved it.

There were so many fantastic classic cars, music items, typewriters, hood ornaments and other items that my head almost exploded! I'll have to return several times to begin to appreciate the quality of their offerings. This place may be the definition of trying to drink from a firehose.
