Great place to have cod fish patties with tomato rice. It's calm and hidden gem near the river. Better to arrive eay to get a place. FYI there is no card payment, cash only.

A lovely little spot in Melres. We came for lunch and received a warm welcome. The server spoke great English which was helpful. The food is incredibly tasty. It has that homemade quality that we all secretly yearn for. We had the insanely addictive cod fritters, some delicious chicken thighs and a fresh tomato salad. Come for the food, the atmosphere and the view.

A wonderfully cosy restaurant, perched right on the bank of the Douro. It’s run by the sweetest people who are genuinely excited to see you try their food: rustic, hearty, beautifully made local delights. Expect to leave utterly content with a full belly. Highly recommended: pataniscas de bacalhau (cod fish cakes - as many as you can eat!) and the rojões (pork belly)

Simple, rustic food served in a plain environment, with lovely friendly service. We had fresh tomatoes, veal with potatoes, fish dumplings and rice. With a couple of jugs of wine dinner for 9 cost €90.

Very simple food. Great place but difficult access by car. Best by boat. Very pleasant and great view over DOURO river.

We always stop here on our kayak trip across Portugal. Good food in general and the best tomatoes you can find!

Lovely restaurant with great local food and superb view over the Douro. very cheap! Friendly service. We had no reservation, but could easily get a table on the terrace with trees full with local guests. Really enjoyed the ‘receita’ (local sangria-like white wine). Make sure you bring cash, as you cannot pay by card.

Absolutely loved this place! So much food and reasonably priced, best local spot in the area.

Can’t recommend this place highly enough…food is unbelievably good & the portions are huge. The staff are so friendly & made us feel so welcome. The pork belly was the best we have ever tasted & they told us they rear their own pigs…in fact they grow all their own veg too. If you are in Melres, you have to go here. We are definitely dining here again before we fly back to the UK.
