Nice place but unfortunately was under refurbishment and was closed. But looks great with interesting old city around.

A lovely little town full of interesting history. The Jewish museum was a surprise, nicely done. The pointy eared dog is certainly a lively character, perfectly harmless of course.

Amazing! Make sure that you visit the Jewish synagogue there and the museum.

Castel do vide is a nice town in Portugal with a butiful castle in top of a hill and charming medieval village. A museum in the synagogue tells the story of an interesting Jewish community that lives in the past in the town.

The castle is a ruin under Restauration. To access the tower you must be brave and walk over the roof with no security rail. Not for those afraid of heights

Truly captivating little hilltown complete with castle, fountains and old Jewish Quarter. Lots of well-marked walks in and around town. Maps (rather poor) available at the tourist office next to Matriz Santa Maria da Devesa Church.

The castle is as nice as the town people that live right next to it. Just wonderful and lovely place to visit.

Sadly, as of October 2020, the castle is closed for renovation. Some of it can be seen from the outside. You can walk in the narrow cobblestone streets within the walls and marvel at the views (reaching up to Marvão, a nearby wonder) and the tiny houses. In spite of the maintenance work going on the castle, the village is still worthy of the visit.

I visited the Castleo de Vide while I was staying 3 nights in Castelo de Vide in November, 2017. The castle is located atop a very steep hill and the walk up on the cobblestone walk is difficult and for me, killed my knees. It's free to walk around and there also is an excellent small museum as you come into the courtyard which is exhibits of the Neolithic megaliths in the area, artifacts found in the area. Very interesting, however, all the information is in Portuguese no English.

Beautiful little village. The castle is very small but it has a great view over the village.

Small castle overlooking Castelo de Vide. Entry here is free.

The castle is really worthwhile visiting. You even can go up to the tower and walk over the roofs of the castle and have a beautiful view of the village and the surroundings. The museum has a military historical exhibition but unfortunately the information is only in Portuguese. It would be a good idea to hand out leaflets with other languages to explain what is written in the various showcases.

Nice castle. Sadly we arrived at their lunch break so the tower was closed.

Great views from the castle. The maintenance could be better.
