Wonderful route. I recommend starting from Caín early and unless you want to eat something small in Poncebos for lunch, I would skip the descent to the town and then subsequent ascent back on the trail and just do the first ~10km of the hike and then turn around. The best parts are closest to Caín.

Great walking route, amazing scenery. If starting at Poncebos it has a fairly abrupt initial climb which might put you off but it then flattens out for the rest of the route. If starting at Cain it's all really easy (unless you drop into Poncebos of course). Not for those that don't feel comfortable at heights and does contain some tunnel sections for those uncomfortable in enclosed spaces. The path is mostly gravel although some is quite large loose stones so sturdy footwear strongly recommended (especially if approaching from Poncebos). One Fuente on route but it's quite near the Cain end so bring water. Bar and food available at Cain. Warning - the route can get extremely busy so avoid, especially in the summer, if it's peace and quiet you like!

Perfectly groomed trail that follows a hydro electric aqueduct through the river valley. Gentle pitches in the trail from Cain ("ka-EEN" for us Ingles). Plan on out and back...start and end points are both way out of the way. Valley walls are close together at the Cain end, much wider at the other end. Dogs are welcome, bikes are not. Not recommended for toddlers or fidgety children...stray off the path and you will surely die. Keep an eye out for the mountain goats, but please resist the urge to feed them.

Absolutely outstanding, breath-taking trail through some of the worlds most beautiful mountains. Often referred to as the Spanish Dolomites, this kind of does a disservice to these mountains which are totally unique in their own right. This trail will leave you in no doubt of the sheer vastness and violent natural forces that carved these mountains in this still very wild part of Spain. The trail has sheer drops in places, but if walked with care and respect it will pose no problems. Expect waterfalls coming out of caves, tunnels carved through solid rock, vultures circling overhead, goats blocking your path, unscalable sheer rockfaces rising like skyscrapers from this one of the most impressive gorges of anywhere in the world. Total trail is 12km from Caín de Valdeón to Poncebos, most people walk it both ways, some do one way and get a taxi (expect a long twisty journey back to where you are going), we tend to walk a couple of hours from Caín stop for packed lunch, and then walk back. We take our dog, as do many other people, but you need to take great care and watch out for the goats. Toilet facilities are au natural, and suitable spots are few and far between (pls pls clear up after yourself if you do go). To enjoy this trail you need to go out of peak times when the trail can become very busy.

Not really the hardest of trails, I saw a lot of seniors and children along the way, doing just fine. Six hours is more then enough to go and come back. Only part that is harder is the start when you have to go upwards but after that it is smooth sail. I didnt even drink a drop of water the whole trail and I am in average shape. It did seem to me by the end that the mountains are moving tho, lol. Landscape is really amazing, and people are aware of that, taking photos everywhere, so precaution is needed when taking selfies to not lose track of space and make a wrong move near some pit

Very nice trekking, even for children. 3h to Cain where you can eat and drink (prices a bit high)

Beautiful trail leading through the gorge. The 10 km one way can be covered in 3 hrs, leaving another 3 hours for the way back. Drinks are available at either end of the trail.

Fabulous scenery and a steady walk after t6first col. Limited opportunities to get water except near the top. Limited opportunities to have a pee!

Absolutely brilliant trail. Breathtaking, incredible, awe inspiring views. Very accessible (most of the trail is wide and gravel) with options to stay/eat/drink at the southern end. The round trip took us 6 hours (not including the hour spent drinking a cold frosty beer). Highly recommended! No bikes allowed. Parking can be a pain at the northern end, so get there early or be prepared to add a few Kms to your hike.
