Went for our son's birthday and Loved, Love, Loved it! The food was delicious and it was a very unique design in the restaurant. Yasuko (might be misspelling this) was so helpful, attentive, friendly, polite, and made out dinner worry free. We had the best time. You have to check out the restrooms too. Although, they are very small.

This was actually one of the best meals I've ever had in my entire life. I kid you not I told my husband that evening that if I had one final meal it would be on my list. Very authentic restaurant. Service was great. They didn't rush you at all. We actually live in Ohio and would drive just to go there to eat. It was out of this world in my opinion.

By far, the best Japanese cuisine restaurant I have had the pleasure of dining at in the northeast! My wife and I had a few appetizers, a main course for two, a few beverages, and finally ended the evening with mochi 💕 Good job, Kiku Japanese Restaurant keep up the great work.

It's a fancy restaurant with relatively cheap quality... don't get me wrong, I love everyday dining and street food too. Simply, the nigiri and sushi are not up to high end standards (more like a everyday standards) and all my friends agreed that we could make better Sukiyaki (was too heavy on soy sauce)... I would not take my connoisseur friends there. They really need a better chef team and better interior design.

Food was incredible and were all authentic! Sashimi and peony shrimp were fresh making me feel like I’m in the ocean! Will visit again soon!!!

I honestly can’t say the food was bad, but the omakase experience was just not right. I had the Matsu omakase, and my boyfriend had omakase sushi only. In the first 30 minutes after we ordered, all we had were a small sashimi plate and a miso soup. Then in the next 30 minutes, all dishes suddenly came together. It was a mix of nigiri sushi, hot dishes, then Nigiri sushi again, so they were definitely not trying to pace it right. The sushi omakase came all in a single plate, and we waited a whole hour for it (imagine you were starving and just ordered this yourself). It should be called a $60 sushi assortment instead of omakase, and they should have warned us for the long waiting. The two small pieces of king carb ($22) especially were not worth it, as they were skinny and not fresh. The service was bad too, the waitress (who was friendly but not attentive) never came to check if everything was fine. She didn’t notice we we had to stare at our poor empty little sashimi plate for over 20 minutes, while our cups were empty too. Order the dishes you like, and avoid omakase. Also, I can’t believe a $$$ restaurant is providing its dine-in customers the same chopsticks as the cheapest Chinese takeouts (that taste so much better).

My favorite traditional Japanese restaurant in Pittsburgh. This time I ordered beef tataki appetizer, served with ponzu sauce. Sushi deluxe for main course. Absolutely delicious. I love that they have traditional sushi offerings like Toro (fatty tuna), umi (sea urchin), tamago (egg), and ikura (salmon roe.) Only the toro and tamago are pictured. Great place to eat, I often see Japanese business people eating here.

Fatty tuna, Uni from Japan, sweet shrimp, and the Takoyaki was to die for. Amazing sushi and everything from the homemade soy sauce to the Wasabi was delicious. Will be coming back on special occasions!

We got the $90 Omakase and the restaurant accommodated us by attempting to pair sakes with each of the seven courses. The Omakase included sushi and nigiri as well as a lot of izakaya style fried and grilled options. Everything was excellent. They had a decent selection of sakes and for an adhoc request they did extremely well with the sake pairings, which really elevated the experience. The service was excellent and our waitress did a great job at explaining each dish and pairing. The atmosphere was nice, but where we sat, near the actual bar was closer to Chinese restaurant than white table cloth. There were some nicer areas, but we didn't ask to be reseated either. The bathrooms were a little small. The signage to find the place was not great. It's in the sort of mall in station square. There's a parking garage close by.

We found this place in 2020 when we moved here from California. The staff is amazing. The hot food is very good, tempura plates, udon, tataki. The raw fish is okay. It's not the highest quality for sashimi, which I prefer, but their rolls are yummy. I have the atmosphere a three star just because it's not really busy during weekend lunches when we typically go and so it's just quiet but that's not bad either.

In the abstract, the food was great. However, the ambiance is lacking, and the menu prices are not matched to the overall experience. The service and the kitchen were also somewhat slower than what one would expect based on the prices. Nearly everybody around us went for the hot pot, so we plan to give it another visit and try that instead of the sushi.

All sauces are made in house, huge variety of unique Japanese dishes that have been passed down directly from Japan. No other place in Pittsburgh offers this one of a kind Asian experience. Recently rated the best Japanese Restaurant in the Pittsburgh Post Gazette. Most Popular Dishes: Sukiyaki and Shabu Shabu for 2(or 3), served with choice cuts of beef and fresh vegetables from local venders and served with signiture house made sauces.

Seems like a family run restaurant by Japanese rather than Chinese which is so common. Very friendly wait staff and good food. Maybe a little more pricey than your seemingly Japanese restaurant, but the chefs R e the real deal. Enjoyed by my Japanese guest so approved!

I had the best first impressions going in. There were multiple menus, which were all explained. I received a hot hand towel to wipe my hands with prior to eating as well, which I loved. Unfortunately, while the food was amazing and the service was fantastic, I did find a hair in my food. The server took care of that food item and everything else was really good but that was my experience.

Came in here on a weekday night. It was very quiet we were the only people in this restaurant. The food was fantastic and the service was great! Very helpful and friendly waitress and staff. It's like a hidden gem in the station square mall remains very low key and intimate setting. They have hands down some of the most authentic Japanese food in the city.

Does not worth the money. 80 dollars for a small pot of sukiyaki. Very few and not tasty beef slices. The sushi looks very nasty, does not look like a real piece of salmon. Cannot image they charge that high price. Meanwhile, the service is terrible. We sit for half an hour with no waiter, no water, no menu.

Absolutely fantastic place. The staff is very friendly and makes you feel very welcome. Their alcohol selection is good, the sake is delicious. make sure and I’m sure you will try their housemade soy sauce. It is absolutely the best soy sauce I have ever had.

I have a lot of nostalgia for Kiku. It was 20 years ago and remains today the best place in Pittsburgh to get sushi as far as I'm aware. If you're from Japan or a world city like New York then the selection won't be very impressive but for what it is and where it is, it does what it does well. The restaurant, like the region as a whole, is showing signs of aging. The menu has gotten slightly smaller, the souvenir cups for cocktail have gone away, and everything looks just a bit older inside. But I'm cheering for them to bounce back. It's still good food made by good people.

The sushi was way off for a Japanese restaurant. Rice was dry and sushi size were different for all the pieces. I had the sushi deluxe and for $10 less I can get the same thing but better prepared form a Chinese restaurant locally. Or even sushi from giant eagle was better.

This is the most authentic sushi that I've been able to find in Pittsburgh. Everyone loved their meal, even the person who doesn't like raw fish and the vegetarian. I've not historically liked tamago sushi, but Kiku's is not only good - it's to die for. Our waiter Matt was also very thorough and answered all of our questions. I highly recommend trying Kiku if you haven't before, and I'll be back soon for another visit.

Love the sushi chef's selection. The tempura shrimp was like art work. Best in Pittsburgh
