Beautiful park, with multiple trails to explore. At the top of the hill, there are toilet facilities and fresh water to refill your bottle/canteen! Mesmerizing views of the surroundings. Friendly for dogs, kids and families! Some historic views and readings as well.

Park at the top £3 for a day at weekends) and walk through the woods. The bluebells are out right now (mid-April) and it’s peaceful and pretty.

Absolutely stunning place to visit for a walk with beautiful views. You can take the short circular walk 3 miles that takes 1 to 2 hours or the longer walk 6 miles up to 4 hours walk or you can just have little stroll at the top of the valley. Plenty of benches. I've had a picnic up here once too. There are some cattle roaming which can be seen on some days depending on the time of day. Park in the car park which costs £1.50 up to 2hours or £3 over 2hours Mon to Fri. Weeke da and bank holidays £3 all day. There are also public toilets here at the car park Happy valley is right next to here as well which is The nearest free parking can be found just past the fox pub on fox lane.

It's a really astonishing place for hiking. The parking is not free anymore. During weekends and bank holidays you can park your car for £3 until 9pm. They toilet were open and clean. Even the view from the parking will catch your eyes. You can walk among the pastures and see cows and horses. Totally recommended for families.

Absolutely stunning area for a walk. Paid for car parking on site, pay via app. Toilets are also available in the car park, as well as a dog water station. On a clear day you can see for miles, The Shard in London is often visible as well as other landmarks. Cattle can often be found grazing here too so be aware if walking dogs. Usually very clean as well and plenty of dog poo bins about.

Simply an English green with views of green pastures and hillocks. If you have a clear day,you can even see the central London from few spots.Great for horse riding, dog walking or "human" walking.

Oasis in the middle of suburbia. With chalk meadows producing an abundance of wild flowers including rare orchids . Deer are often seen there . I have seen red kites , buzzards and the rare nightingale and the sound of summer the sky lark . Its a great area for walking .steep in places. Bluebells in spring are natures gift

Great views of the nearby towns and villages. And as you can see from the pic I took, the Shard and Walkie-talkie building are visible from the top of Farthing Downs (if you really squint).

Perfect spot for a mud free dog walk with beautiful views. Easy parking but often busy on weekends. If you're lucky you'll come across wildlife too.

Haven't been for around 40 years... do miss the Café and the whole place up at the car park has changed so much. But still a beautiful place with a fantastic trail that takes you around Farthing Downs and Happy Valley. Takes approx 3 hours if walking at a moderate pace and listening to the audio trail guide that can be found by scanning the QR code. Also as text possible. There are 29 posts and to each there is a bit of information shared about the specific area (wildlife etc). Can only recommend it. Great for families, dogs love it too. Only thing missing is a café to enjoy a cuppa after the beautiful walk... and since they charge now a parking fee up there, should think about a nice little tea-room or so next to it.

I visited here in May 2022 as part of walking the London Loop route around London. This is a picturesque area that includes toilets and good views.

Beautiful place to take the pups for a walk and just to enjoy some fresh air and open space with no noise except the wind and the birds :) Parking lot charges a flat day rate of £3. We went on a bank holiday, stunning weather and there were only a few other people there.

A dog walker or ramblers dream This amazing green space on the outskirts of London (see the shard from the car park) is 250 acres of wood land and trails If you are in the area and are looking for a walk then check it out

Amazing place for butterflies! We saw Meadow Browns, Marbled Whites, Small Skippers and Small Heaths. You have to pay for parking but it's reasonably priced. Nice pubs nearby too!

Amazing walk, fab views. There is something for everyone in this area. Flat grass, hills, woodland and dog friendly place. Good car parking space and good pub nearby. I like this place as you can enjoy a nice drink after long walks.

  • 5/5 Paurav S. 7 months ago on Google
It's a lovely easy walk where you can take you time and enjoy the scenery. The butterflies are a bonus in August - September time. Well set paths and also lots of side paths to explore. On a sunny day, it can feel quite warm as there is very little shade on the path. Worth keeping in mind.

Can't go far wrong with the Downs. Especially great at this time of year (May/June) for the flowers.

Grew up here over 70 plus years ago.Not so many used it then. Shame the tea rooms have gone, was always a welcoming rest hole for walkers, families, and us in our youth. Always nice to see John and Mary, may they RIP.

Lovely place I never knew was there. Especially good on a nice day for a long or short walk. Strange but nice atmosphere about the place. As the notice board suggests, it's like walking along the spine of a massive creature

We love Farthing Downs. Yes its a scrap of green buried in suburbia and only not built over because it is so steep. But its also beautiful and peaceful with decent views and a good walk across Happy Valley for a pint at the Fox.

  • 4/5 Dave W. 3 years ago on Google
Excellent starting point for a good Downs walk. Good parking which is gated and locks at dusk. Good toilets, great views. Only problem was water refill point wasn't working.

If you want to see for miles and miles with lovely scenery this is the place to be. The area where the road goes across the downs to Chaldon is a great place to be when anything is happening in the skies such as full moon. planets and meteors etc. This time of year bring your warm clothes, hot soup and coffee for your evening viewing. CAR PARK NOT VERY BIG though so plan your visit
