Caterham Dene Hospital

Hospital

πŸ‘πŸ‘ I visited Caterham Dene this morning after not being able to see a doctor at my GP surgery - the telephone lines had been so busy that by the time I got through all today's slots had gone. I cannot rate Caterham Dene highly enough.....the whole experience was faultless. I turned up with no app... People often mention staff, service, friendly, helpful, nurse, hospital, Dene, time, minutes, great,

Edit: Never going there again. waited 1:45 for my appointment as it was that late. Saw the doctor who 'Arranged my repeat' ... turns out that never happened, now have to go a week without my NECESSARY medication. Appalled.

I visited Caterham Dene this morning after not being able to see a doctor at my GP surgery - the telephone lines had been so busy that by the time I got through all today's slots had gone. I cannot rate Caterham Dene highly enough.....the whole experience was faultless. I turned up with no appointment and was seen, assessed and reassured by a wonderful nurse within ten minutes. Technically I'm not within their NHS trust area but they still saw me.

Normally very good but i went in sometime in August/September 2017 when I fell flat on my back onto concrete and was in excruciating pain. The nurse felt every vertebra amd told me nothing is broken. I questioned an x ray but was told, not necessary.. As the pain continued for months, I had myself checked out in another country during my holiday months later only to be told that I broke my back. So be careful. I tried to insist on an xray but wad flatly refused.

Thank you to everyone at Caterham Dene for the care they gave my elderly neighbour today, especially Allison, who was very kind and compassionate towards us both. It is an excellent unit, staffed by very competent, caring people, who treat everyone as a individual. Wendy.

I must say we are very lucky to have this hospital in our area. I went in today with a severe allergy and I must say I was well taken care of by their very friendly and efficient staff. Well done to the wonderful staff who are giving an excellent service to the patients in these trying times.

Great facility to have. My elderly mum was treated well at all times. They were honest about waiting times as they were busy. We were seen within the given time frame. This is the 3rd time we have had to use the Dene for various family members locally and we have had great service every time. Lucky to have them there.

Dr Matt & Joanna (apologies if names not exactly spot on - you know who you are!) thanks so much for your kind attention this afternoon during my unscheduled visit. Your speed professionalism, thoroughness and care was a tribute to the very best in your profession. Thanks too to another pair of superstars Hannah and Sammi out of Banstead ambulance service. Honestly you were all absolutely outstanding, we are so lucky to have people like you! Thank you all.

Lovely lovely people, and a very understanding nurse (she'll know who she is) was so sympathetic, helpful and diagnosed that I had a urinary infection, even though my own doctor couldn't, After being back to my doctor week after week 8 weeks to be exact to end up in excruciating pain. There should be more of these Centres I know which option I would rather go with....!!!!! Receptionists were also very helpful, pleasant and always with a smile. Keep up the good work everyone!!!

I attended Caterham Dene Walk-in on New Year’s Eve 2022, having accidentally stabbed a kitchen knife right through the tip of my finger and out the other side. From the moment I arrived at Caterham, the team were efficient and I was treated quickly and with care. Their service was excellent.

Thank you to the lovely nurse Karen I saw today. She was so friendly, kind and reassuring and the hospital are lucky to have her! I can’t say the same about the receptionists. They were quite rude and unwelcoming, and made me feel uncomfortable. Overall, I highly recommend the service and I only waited 15 minutes to be seen.

I attended with what turned out to be a broken fibula in mid January 2023. The service there was excellent and I was in and out on crutches and in a boot within two hours. Special mention to Ann Marie Sherman who was great.

I went to caterham dene after injuring my ankle. I was able to get seen by a doctor, have an x ray done, recieved my diagnosis (a fractured ankle), and was fitted with a boot in just under 2 hours. There was hardly any delay and I got through the process really quickly - plus the staff were all very nice and helpful!

Prompt and helpful assistance after phoning and then walking-in. Great to be met by medical staff who seemed genuinely interested in making me better rather than regarding me, as an unwelcome inconvenience. Thanks.

I visited last week for treatment for a minor injury. The staff at Caterham Dene were amazing- considering it was pretty busy. I was very well looked after by nurses Jo and Sarah - they were brilliant. Great service. Committed, dedicated staff.

We had to visit Caterham Dene yesterday. We were first in the queue at opening time. The receptionist was lovely. We only had to wait ten minutes to see a nurse. She was brilliant, very thorough and put my husband's mind at ease. Back home within an hour. Brilliant service that we would definitely use again.

I had to go up there daily after an operation earlier this year. The queue was always short and the staff were always fully professional. I could not be happier with the service I received and could not be more impressed with the doctors and nurses.

Amazing place. Checked in by a very cheerful friendly receptionist and I'd barely sat down before I was seen by the nurse, who was also very cheerful and friendly. They dealt with my problem quickly and efficiently and I was on my way within 15 minutes of arriving - fantastic.

Managed to end up with a mallet finger from tucking in a blanket..!. Called them up to find out whether I should get an x-ray or not, they advised I should as precaution and explained how to go about sorting it out and what to do in the interim to stop any further damage to my finger. Went the following morning, around 8:45, and was out by 10:15 with x-rays done and a much better splint than the one I made myself from a lolly pop stick! I have been there once before a few years ago when I tore my meniscus, and they were just as excellent back then. The staff are all really nice and friendly both in person and on the phone, I really can't praise this place enough! Thank you again Dene Hospital and your staff, you are great! :)

Attended at 09:30 on a Saturday after being recommended by the pharmacy to go. The hospital had free on site parking, no queue at reception and a clean and calm waiting area. Reception staff very polite and personable. I was triaged within 20 minutes and then seen within another 30 minutes by a wonderful senior nurse named Anne-Marie. She was very friendly, bubbly, knowledgable and promptly issued me a prescription. I was in and out within an hour. Had no idea this hospital even existed prior to today but would highly recommend for minor injuries as the whole experience was very painless (unlike my finger!) and so much better than attending A&E. Thanks team for a great experience 😊

I visited today for the first time due to an ear problem that was not resolving. I had been trying to get a GP appointment for over a week with no luck. I was recommended Caterham Dene by a friend and I’m so glad I was! The entire experience was faultless with kind, friendly staff and 2 excellent nurse practitioners who were warm and knowledgable. How lucky we are to have such a great service available to us. Thank you!

Very good experience when I attended after a 6 hour wait in Croydon University Hospital where they had failed to remove a canula on discharge. The excellent staff here removed it and nurse took notes in great detail checking my blood pressure etc before leaving. The difference in care is astounding no wonder they have such excellent reviews

Waiting time was 15 minutes and in another 15 minutes I was out. By far the shortest time ever in a hospital. Unfortunately I needed a much more advanced check-up at a different hospital and scan than they could provide, but they tried their best

Waste of time going, was told to go there because of a lump on my wrist causing pins and needles in fingers. Told that they are minor unit and not neurology!!!!!. She said she had no idea what it was and told me to go to Croydon hospital.

When my daughter needed to see a medical proffessional out of hours on a Saturday, I tried here, I was so happy to see only 3 people in the waiting room. Unfortunately we were very quickly told to drive to East Surrey Hospital or Purley as caterham will not see under 18's. It's a great facility that cant be used by the whole community.

Brilliant service. I went in with a potential broken toe (turned out it was fractured). Within 40 minutes I'd checked in, been seen for my initial assessment, seen another nurse, had an X-Ray, had the follow up to the X-Ray and left. I can't find fault with anything and would highly recommend nipping here instead of going to A&E (unless it's life-threatening, obviously). The only thing that could be improved, although this will be nigh on impossible due to the constraints of the site, is the parking. At 11am on a Monday morning when it didn't seem too busy there wasn't a single space available in the car park.

Very small hospital, good for some things but does not have all the departments of a major hospital so I would recommend for walk ins and injuries that wouldn't be classed as emergency as East surrey is normally where they send you if that's the case. However I have to thank the wonderful nurse who attended to my mum on Thursday 1st November. Mum is recovering from a traumatic event and because of this worked herself up thinking her illness was back. For piece of mind we dropped in to check all was ok and the nurse was so kind and caring and genuinely seemed to care about her patient. I cannot thank her enough for showing such empathy and compassion at this extremely hard time. Absolute credit to the hospital.

Why do I even have to give 1 star??? My mum tripped and landed on a glass of water she was holding which resulting in the glass breaking and a piece gouged her in the wrist. There was so much blood it sprayed up the wall all the way to the bathroom sink. My ex Army husband had to tend to it before rushing her to the Dene Hospital as what he deemed an emergency and arrived 19.48. The doors where shut, they did not respond to the buzzer so my husband had to signal them at the window to which the receptionist did not even want to open the window or call a nurse and stated repeatedly that they are closed. (The correct closing time for an emergency is 20.00). They eventually sent a nurse out to tell us the same thing that they are closed. After my husband relentlessly pestering them that East Surrey Hospital is a 25 min drive away, they agreed (out of liability) to let us in for them to literally take the bandage off, barely looked at it and said we must just go to East Surrey Hospital. No help or a clean dressing provided. They did say "hold it above your head" and that was all we got. If ever I have come across the most lowest of nurses and receptionists! Could not be asked because it would of made them late to get home. Thank you receptionists and nurses at the Dene Hospital 24th June 2018 ,19.45 shift.

Overall fantastic experience, I wasn't able to be seen by my GP as they were too busy to offer an appointment, phoned the walk in clinic to explain my situation & the receptionist managed to get me an appointment with the GP on site at the clinic by speaking with my GP directly. I required antibiotics for an ear infection which had been lingering a week prior. The care & kindness the receptionists show is second to none. Friendly, pleasant & pull out all of the stops to help.

First class care. I had a minor injury to my knee and throughout the process of redressing over the weeks I was looked after and cared for by all the nurses like I was someone special. Of course it is not a place you want to visit regularly but if you have to, it's nice to know that you could not be in better hands.

Used the Minor Injuries Unit for the first time yesterday. Fantastic care and service from start to finish. Even able to park for free. Greeted by friendly, professional staff. Waited only 2 minutes then had my thumb examined thoroughly by staff. They tested my blood levels for tetanus, advised me and dressed my cut thumb. Cannot praise enough thank you.
