I was excited to find this place as it sits not too far off my route to the office and especially as the reviews are so strong. But I'm afraid I totally disagree with them. I've lived in South Africa and have bought biltong from all over the place and consider myself a real lover of the stuff and this ranks amongst the worst I've had outside of supermarket packet stuff! The stokkies were so dry that I could hardly break them with my teeth - I know some places make them dryer than others but this was crazy. And they taste like jerky, not biltong. 90% of them went in the bin. I also bought a whole piece of biltong, fairly wet with a bit of fat which is what I always go for and again, it tasted like jerky - that slightly sweet flavour that I really hate. It was their "traditional" version as well so not something funky! Also bin fodder I'm afraid. Of all the places I've bought biltong, particularly in South Africa where they really know how to make this stuff, I've never had anything that tasted like this and I'm afraid won't be returning for biltong. That said, the rest of the shop had loads of SA goodies in it so worth a trip for that.

I ordered over £100 of various meat for a birthday BBQ to be delivered and it arrived within 2 days, professionally packaged, cold and tasted great. I'd been to the store in person many times before for their tasty biltong and a few items for their BBQ food for a small amount, but never before ordered to home for that many people. The food arrived in 2 big, well-sealed, Styrofoam boxes with ice packs. I think the food was frozen beforehand so it travelled well, so bare in mind, if that's the case; it cannot be re-frozen. Needless to say, the huge Texan steak was a great party piece that tasted great and impressed. I will continue to use this great local shop in future! Keep up the great work!

They have all the RSA favourites. Billies, droerwors, boerewors, lamb wors all the way to Robinson's spices, Ina Paarman's spices and fizzers!! GENUINE FIZZERS!! Fantastic service and usually well stocked. ONE drawback is that their biltong isn't always the best - sometimes tasting more like a Kabanos, than the droerwors and. Biltong you get in RSA. St. Marcus, if you're reading this... use the traditional South African methods please. ;) Overall, though, great shop.

The absolute best place to get real Biltong outside of SA. Plus they have a giant plastic zebra outside and who doesn't love a giant plastic zebra?!

I always go for the soft biltong, which is delicious, I buy two bags full. The boerewors unfortunately is not to our taste. Please try some other recipe so you can be our one-stop shop.

Sadly this shop is no longer purely a SA shop but has many Australian items.High prices but I guess this is to be expected when one is far from home. The biltong is disappointing.I support the stall in Redhill on Thursdays

I love getting some products from back home in SA. It's a pitty they are so over priced. St Marcus prices is way over priced compared to competitors. The droewors here are always disappointing.

Great place to buy South African food and bits. Helpful staff. Not cheap but they have to import it so understand.

Staff are super friendly and helpful, and bakery items a real treat! Some limitations on stock, but they are doing the best they can considering the rules currently in place on exporting from SA. Worth a visit for a taste of home! Good to see they have some exotic meat back in stock too. :)

Great meat and droe wors biltong is ok. A good selection of other south african foods too

Generally good produce and have been buying from here for years. Bought a large amount of droe wors today which was disgusting. No moisture at all it was like it had been all the life dried out of it and hard as nails. I immediately took it back but the woman said sorry no returns. My partner didn’t ask for a refund but if I was there I would’ve. Disgraceful for a South African shop to be seeking this.

Some of the best biltong I've tried outside South Africa, good range of Boervorst, they're expensive, but hey nice things cost money. A decent selection of SA products, and alcohol, even bought a pack of braai wood, also expensive, but everything has to be imported. I'd definitely recommend this shop to anyone who wanted to sample S.A. cuisine at its finest.
