I’ve been going into The Rock Box for over 20 yrs and I’ve been willing to give the new store time but since the relocation to the Square but the shop has lost all its charm and now feels like a poor mans Our Price. One thing that disappointed me was the noticeable change of the type of music in stock. There was always plenty of classic rock and metal records but they had been replaced by considerably more Indie music that’s frankly not to my taste. If that’s what sells and it’s a business decision fair enough. I honestly wouldn’t have thought anymore of it until a visit a few months ago when I overheard staff telling a customer the store would now be completely different & they wouldn’t be stocking as much classic rock and metal as that was not the music they liked. The tone of the conversation was pretty condescending & was the kind of musical snobbery that unfortunately exists in some record stores. Why you would want to alienate loyal customers and not stock a type of music because it’s not to your tastes is an absolute mystery to me. I walked out as I actually couldn’t believe what I was hearing and haven’t been back since.

Nowhere near as good now it has moved, I guess foot traffic is better now but it's lost it's character and the selection is very poor.

Friendly and knowledge guy behind the checkout. Nice atmosphere with music playing. Spacious and clean shop. Good variety of CD and Vinyl also memorabilia available.

A wonderful old-school music store with an eclectic mix of pre-owned and new music but specialising in vinyl. Took me back to my teenage years of browsing record stores pocket money in hand. Great selection of all genres and the very helpful team there will order in for you if they don't have stock in store. I have used their superb mail order service as well as I don't live nearby, though visiting the store itself is a must for any fan of vinyl. Go there, enjoy the experience of a traditional "record shop" and come out poorer of wallet but happier of mind.

I recently revisited my old vinyl collection, and treated myself to a new turntable and all the required trimmings. A regular visit to the Rock Box is essential if you want to try and complete any old 12" single collections like I am. Take it from me, if you see something there you fancy... buy it.... it won't be there if you go back later !!!

A great little record shop. A lot of new and used records at great prices. Definitely plan on returning next time I'm in the area.

Lovely old-school record store with a good selection of old vinyl and genres, at reasonable prices too. They also put on sale their used record release display pictures which is a really nice touch, and it was very enjoyable digging through them, and I found a few gems. The girl managing the store was very friendly and helpful. Definitely worth a visit.

Really enjoy coming into this store, often come away with some rare music. They stock a huge vinyl and cd collection. The staff are so friendly and will always go that extra way to help you. Many thanks especially to Susan 👍
