Out of towners here. It was our first trip to California. The food was deliciously fantastic!! Look forward to our future trip!

An excellent breakfast, lunch, brunch place. Kinda has the old time diner feel with lots of Disney artwork in it. Friendly staff, but more importantly, the breakfast was spectacular! I had the Country Skillet, and my wife had the Home Sweet Home omelet. They were both real close to being the same, one in a skillet, one not. But both were excellent and this place is definitely worth a visit. The restaurant is in a warehouse area, sort of the area you wouldn't find a cafe normally, but yet there it is. Oh, and my wife says the drip coffee is EXCELLENT! Breakfast served all day, or at least under they close in the afternoon.

What a discovery! Finally found a breakfast place that I actually loved. The food was delicious, reasonably priced, and hearty servings! Unique old diner atmosphere. Both our dishes were awesome which tells me everything must be good here. And service was also great. Nice homely ambience.

We loved stopping here for our first American breakfast after being in Mexico for 2 1/2 months. The food was good. The service was quick and friendly. The menu had a lot of great options. Everyone in our group was pleased with their meal. Seana was a great server.

Love this place. Fun little diner with a nostalgic vibe. Not corporate cookie cutter. Parking is atrocious but worth it. Great size portions. Friendly staff. Fun themed coffee mugs sets this place apart. Inspiring quote signs are always fun to read. My only request is they remove the plastic COVID shower curtains. I think we can or should all agree we are past this pretend safety feature. 🤣

The wait was crazy, and then they sat 3 parties ahead of us. After we were seated, we waited more to get our orders in by the waitress. Oh yeah, you have to sign up to get a table 1st. Okay, once we did get our orders taken, the staff was friendly and kept checking in on us, which was nice. Now for the food... I had the chicken fried steak, It was OK, nothing that wowed me...it was fine, the home fries were BURNT from the bottom and still firm from the top....how do they do it??. Kids said pancakes were good, breakfast burrito was okay, but not better than taco shop burrito. Eggs Benedict was okay but didn't impress. Anyway it's a good home style cafe. It's kind of like going to Grandma's house for breakfast... you know, like you're gonna see a friendly face, coffee is good and your favorite mug is still there. And the food may be really good or it may get burnt, just depending on which grandma you get... thanks for breakfast.

Usually I find a lot of flaws in places I dine at, however I must say I enjoyed my experience at this quaint diner. The interior was decorated in a simple manner although it added to the appeal. The food overall was simple but delicious I made sure to try the biscuits and gravy as another review advised to and wasn’t blown away by it but it was still satisfying. I think what really makes this place is the friendly and attentive staff. Overall I will return here simply for the simple food and excellent service. Thanks y’all.

A Charming and Delicious Breakfast Experience! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Home Sweet Home Breakfast Restaurant truly lives up to its name! I had the pleasure of dining here last weekend, and I can't say enough good things about my experience. First and foremost, the atmosphere is incredibly cozy and welcoming. The decor is charming with its warm colors and vintage touches, making it feel like you're eating breakfast at a close friend's home. The staff is friendly and attentive, making sure all guests are taken care of promptly and courteously. The menu is extensive and offers something for everyone. Classic breakfast items like eggs, bacon, and pancakes are done to perfection, while unique dishes like their avocado toast with poached eggs and salsa verde provide a delightful twist on traditional favorites. I personally ordered the veggie omelette with a side of their famous home fries, and it was absolutely delicious. The omelette was fluffy and loaded with fresh vegetables, while the home fries were crispy on the outside and tender on the inside. One thing that really stood out to me was the quality of the ingredients. Everything tasted fresh and flavorful, which is a testament to their commitment to using locally sourced produce and meats. The coffee was also top-notch, bold and smooth without being bitter – the perfect complement to my meal. The prices are reasonable considering the quality of the food and the portion sizes. I felt that I got great value for my money, and I left feeling full and satisfied. Another bonus is that they offer vegetarian, vegan, and gluten-free options, so everyone in your group is sure to find something they'll love. In addition to the amazing food and cozy atmosphere, the location of Home Sweet Home Breakfast Restaurant is convenient and easy to find. There's ample parking available, which is always a plus when dining out in California. One small note: the restaurant can get quite busy during peak hours, so it's a good idea to arrive early or make a reservation to avoid a long wait. But trust me, it's worth the wait! They also offer takeout and delivery services for those who prefer to enjoy their breakfast at home or on the go. Overall, I wholeheartedly recommend Home Sweet Home Breakfast Restaurant to anyone looking for a delightful and satisfying breakfast experience in California. I can't wait to return and try more of their scrumptious dishes. If you haven't been here yet, do yourself a favor and pay them a visit – your taste buds will thank you!

I was pleasantly surprised that a place this good was open at 6am. The corned beef and fried eggs was amazing. I got 2 eggs, half an avocado, corned beef, cottage cheese, and coffee and my check was $17 before tip. I try not to eat carbs and the corned beef was a perfect option! Amazing food, really great service, great price, great hours, and overall pleasant. I definitely recommend this place. Coffee was also fresh and yum. 🤤🫠

We ordered Monte Cristo, machaca, eggs with big piece of ham and fluffy pancakes. Very good service, nice looking cups. Our family loves this place. It was already packed at 7am on Saturday. A bit challenging for finding parking.

Home Sweet Home Cafe in Escondido, is a breakfast haven that lives up to its name. Our visit at 8:30am on a Saturday set the perfect tone for a delightful day trip to SD. The short wait before being seated only added to the anticipation, and once inside, the cafe exuded a genuine home away from home atmosphere that was both warm and inviting. Upon perusing the menu, we were drawn to the promise of a comforting morning meal. The decision to start with their delicious coffee proved to be an excellent choice, served in charming mugs that added a touch of coziness. Our orders included a veggie omelette and home fries, a child’s pancake breakfast, and the much-raved-about biscuits and gravy breakfast special. The standout of the meal was undeniably the biscuits and gravy. The biscuits were a masterpiece of flakiness and buttery goodness, while the gravy, thick and rich, featured delectable bits of sausage that elevated it to perfection. It's safe to say that their biscuits and gravy are the stuff of dreams. Totally worth the 100 mile drive down from LA. Beyond the exceptional meal, the service at Home Sweet Home was exceptional, with an attention to diners that set a high standard. A thoughtful touch was the presence of a tree in one corner, where children could pick out a toy—an extra layer of warmth that showcased the cafe's commitment to creating a welcoming environment. As we left, already planning our return, it was clear that Home Sweet Home had become more than just a cafe—it was a comforting retreat that felt like home. We eagerly anticipate the next opportunity to savor those wonderful biscuits and gravy.

You know its good when you see a crowd of people waiting outside for their name to be called even when its pouring rain. We waited for 30 minutes... but it was worth it. The food is amazing, and portions are huge. My wife and I shared the Chicken Fried Steak plate and split a cinnamon roll. It was borderline too much food for the both of us, but it was really tasty. Despite how packed and understaffed they were that day, they were pretty attentive to our needs and friendly. We will be back again for sure to try other dishes.

This is a quaint cafe with great service and even greater food! We got the Cajun skillet and the country skillet and when I tell you I still think about those dishes! We will most definitely come back here:) Also the mugs they serve with the coffee are so cute and well worth to get the coffee just for the mugs lol!

Friendly staff, quick service and tasty food. I ordered the "Berto Special" which is basically a chilaquiles dish. I think they fry the tortillas, as opposed to using chips, which is a huge plus in my book. I will definitely be back!

Well I'm really undecided on what I want to say, the customer service was on point smiles and all around good attitudes. The food was just ok but I did finish my plate but I didn't like the pancake. Coffee was nice and hot. I love the contry vibe and creative Coffee cups. I almost forgot the salsa is delectable .

First time visitor! It was very popular, and not a big place, thus we had to wait about 20 minutes for a table on a Saturday morning. The menu selection is extensive and there is something there for everyone. Of the 5 in our group 3 enjoyed their food a lot and 2 said it was just okay. If you don't typically eat heavy greasy food, then I would recommend that you stay away from any dish that includes hash browns or cheese, as those in our group who ordered them commented that it was just too filling. Otherwise, it's a great place for breakfast. The staff is super friendly! I would recommend this place!

I really like this place, it can get really busy during weekends. The service is very good. Waiters were friendly and they recommended me some good dishes. Good for families. They were keeping filing my coffee cup. I would definitely recommend this place.

Loved it as soon as I went through the door! My kind of place! Not a chain. Not sterile. A perfect home town place! The food is great! The staff is great! Reminds me of Joe's Diner in Lee, MA back in the sixties! If I'm back here again I'll be sitting at the counter with a smile on my face!

Amazing! We moved to Escondido a few months back and we’ve been hunting around for local eateries. We’re so happy to have found a great breakfast spot!! We had the “Tony” Sandwich and the Eggs Benedict and both were perfect!! Definitely will be back!

My husband and I were hesitant on coming here because we almost passed it. But coming here was great and the food was amazing. The staff is also really friendly and they all check in on you to make sure your fine. The team work they showed was great as someone who works in the restaurant industry this was one of the best experiences I had in a cafe. If and when me and my husband pass this town again I'm going to come back. It was that good
