" Porta Napoli " is a nice place to start visiting Lecce old town , in front at it there is the obelisk.

Definitely worth a walk in the park near Porta Napoli, especially in the late spring when the trees are blossoming, being a key point in the city of Lecce.

Lecce is beautiful, baroque, small historic centro but very charming. If I stay in the historic center and are there for the first time make sure to get detailed instructions on how to find your lodging as lecce is a labyrinth.

Porta Napoli: Lecce's Majestic Gateway to History! Standing tall with its intricate Baroque details, this city entrance is a true marvel. Stepping through its arches feels like a journey back in time. The craftsmanship is awe-inspiring. Don't miss this iconic gem and soak in the rich heritage of Lecce!

Porta Napoli is along with Porta San Biago one of the city gates to the fortified medieval city. Likewise the entire old town, the gate shines in its Baroque beauty. It dates back to 16c marking the north-western city entrance from Naples direction. On the outer side is Lecce new town, while passing through the gate you enter the amazing Baroque old town

This gateway into the narrow streets of the walled "old town" is sometimes busy with vehicles driving in or out. Try not to get run-over when taking selfies! The roadway here is not defined, you are in Italy now! I took my photo of Porta Napoli in the piazza just outside the gate, where the oleander trees were.

None of the photos you see here does the gate justice. Grandiose, geometrical, cubic, carved in the most careful and loving way. Standing beautifully at the entrance of this beautiful old city with buildings which are more beautiful then the other scattered all over. I love Lecce.
