I loved this smaller and less touristy Mitad del Mundo! Our guide explained the equinox and solstice with a dynamic performance that left me amazed that I hadn't learned any of this in school. This place is so much better than the over-hyped museum full of Equator-lore at the better established site outside of Quito. Placed on the route to Cumbayá, it's super easy to visit and combine with trips to Otavalo or further north.

Dangerous and risky! Beware!!! While visiting 1st of May 2023 at lunchtime, the car of our travelguide and the adjacent car were broken into and ALL our luggage stolen. This during a 3 minute toilet break where the guide was not with the car. Clearly organised crime. Interestingly, video surveillance was out of order. The place showed no help or remorse. Shame, the place was actually interesting.

This is a place everyone should visit at some point in life, there are four hemispheres in one place, awesome.

Really interesting place. I was expecting to see a random monument but instead I found very interesting museums and exhibitions.

Fantastic explanation in perfect English and a beautiful point on the equator which we had more or less to ourselves unlike some of the other more commercial points.

Not the most amazing sights, but rewards you with quality science and information. The staff there really knew their stuff!! Travel to the location is not difficult and provides some rewarding culture experience.

The information was interesting BUT they were just trying to sell stuff. As soon as I said I didn’t want to buy the “kit” the guy cracked the sads, pushed his sales trolley away and left. $5 is pricey to be treated like a money tree.
