If you're on a cruise, this is where you go since you will have to board a tender boat to take you to the shore and back to the ship when you're done with the day's port excursion. Just make sure you get back to the cruise ship on time; otherwise, bye bye and you're left behind!

Just as good as cruise ships that aren’t mooring but with less people

View from the Cruise Ship at the anchorage. 10 minutes drive with a tender boat from the anchorage to the tender pier. Anchorage is affected by the swell from the open sea, so hope for good weather and enjoy the Grand Cayman. All in all good to go.

Georgetown, Grand Cayman is situated on a beautiful shallow bay, where the water near shore is a gorgeous turquoise and the deeper water is a deep blue. There were several cruise ships anchored in the bay, making it look very majestic. The cruise ships must anchor out in the bay where the water is deep, so guests have to be tendered to shore. This adds to the fun as you feel the welcome breeze and get close up views of the sandbars just under the turquoise waters. It was hot when we went in early May, and of course quite humid, making it feel even hotter. I’ve heard the beaches are beautiful but we didn’t go, as I’m mobility challenged and my scooter would have made the trip more challenging. I was very unimpressed with the shopping. No open markets with local vendors. Just expensive stores. I needed a hat to cover my sunburned head. One hat I particularly liked, which ran about $10 in other ports we had stopped at, was selling here for anywhere from $16 to $30. I should have bought in Jamaica when I was there, but didn’t realize I’d gotten so burned til I was back on board. I recommend doing your shopping in Jamaica off you go there, then have your day at 7-mile beach in Georgetown, skipping the stores - unless, of course, you need to cool off, as they are all air conditioned.

Great location to get to grand caymans. It turns out the mooring was not overly difficult. In fact we saw a guy make the mooring on a wheel chair. Don’t be out off on the fact that it’s a tender port. It will be fine you can very like get off the boat here. This is a safe location and you will not have lots of people haggling you when you get to shore.

It's always a favorite to see other ships close by.
