We had an incredible time visiting Pedro St James! We were not sure what to expect, and due to some construction we couldn’t go into the great hall, however we really enjoyed the movie and walking around the grounds. The guides were super helpful and flexible, even though we showed up during their team meeting, they were still on top of helping us. I definitely will come back when I can go inside the great hall!

Pedro St. James is the oldest existing stone building in the Cayman Islands, and it's a must-visit tourist spot here. The property is a beautifully restored 18th-century plantation home, which is informative and fascinating. At a time in the Cayman Islands when most people lived in tiny, thatch-covered houses, a wealthy Englishman, using slave labor from Jamaica, created an astonishing 3-story building called Pedro St. James. Visitors can learn about the island's early inhabitants, the pirates, and the important role of Pedro St. James in shaping modern Caymanian society. The architecture of the building itself is stunning, with great care taken to preserve the original features while making the site accessible and comfortable for visitors. The gardens and grounds are also beautifully maintained, providing a peaceful and serene environment for exploration.

Went to Pedro Castle an amazing tourist destination, this May (2023) with my girlfriend, to visit my family in Grand Cayman. Our tour guide Stacey and his cat 🐈 ❤️ toured us around this wonderful attraction. We watched a interactive and interesting movie about the great house and the history of government founded by the family of the house. Stacey is family to the original owners of the house and has great tales and personal information to share. I highly recommend you get him and his cat to provide you a tour! The grounds that the castle sits on also host many weddings and has beautiful foliage indigineous to the island. Tell Stacey I sent you!

We booked a combo tour through RC cruise line. St Pedro and Turtle Swim. I think most of us were a little disappointed by how much time we had to wait around at this place. It was hot and our group was much too big for touring the house. My husband and I ended up venturing off on our own to read on the history of the house. Our tour guide lady was nice but due to the size of our group we couldn't hear most of what she had to say. After touring the house, we were guided to a small theater to watch a film on how to island and St James came to be. Not the best film work but we were thankful to have a break in the air conditioning for a bit. This place is located quite a distance away from the Turtle Center as well. If history is your thing you might enjoy this stop, but I wouldn't recommend booking this combo excursion through the cruiseline. It was too overpacked for us to actually enjoy ourselves.

You have to add this to your itinerary! this was an amazing stop. it was not much money for the quality of the tour. We did a self guided tour, but did get to see the movie. there was a great amount detail and history that you will discover here about Caymon as well as Jamacia and their connection and history. how slavery and Independance from other nations all came to be in this same place.

Trisha was an amazing guide and Laura in the gift shop was a pleasure. Stop by for the oldest history on the island. Give yourself a couple+ hours for the tour, relax by the sea, and rum tasting.

What a wonderful place to escape the crowds and learn about the history of the Cayman Islands. We took a tour which was informative and interesting. Our tour guide, Wilson, was a great storyteller. The grounds are beyond beautiful, and the theater was like nothing we had ever seen before. Pedro St. James was a wonderful stop as we explored the island. Thanks, Chris (tour guide at the cruise terminal) for the recommendation!

An absolutely amazing historical attraction here in Grand Cayman. Personally, the presentations and tours were one of the best on island! I love Pedro Castle. ♡ Kid friendly and lots of parking! Souvenirs available too!

This is a great place to learn about the history of grand cayman. I thought it was pretty neat how they start off with a little movie that looks kind of like a movie set with wind, thunder, lightning and rain, it makes it feel like you travel back in time to where it all started. After the short movie you go out the doors and are introduced with a beautiful view of the ocean and the Pedro St. James building. If you are interested in the history of Grand Cayman I would highly recommend visiting here!

Make sure and pay for the guided tour and request Trisha if possible, you will not be disappointed! Beautiful theater, exhibits and of course, home. We learned so much and thoroughly enjoyed our time listening to all the stories of life and family through the generations and history of the Cayman Islands. This was definitely a highlight of our visit to Grand Cayman!

Wow, a great presentation of some important Caymanian history lovingly restored or recreated. Well worth the 19USD entry fee. Wilson was very helpful in getting us underway.

A very nice place to spend a relaxing afternoon learning about local history of Cayman Islands. We arrived a bit late (an hour before closing) after lunch at the on-site restaurant so we missed the introductory video otherwise the trip would have been perfect. Recommend to arrive at least 2 hours before closing so you can catch the introduction film and then have some time to walk around.

This is a must visit! The entrance price is inexpensive (especially residents rates) and very good value. The house has been restored to how it would have looked in the 18th century and they've done a great job. The film is informative and gives a potted history of the house which is closely interlinked with the history of Cayman itself.

My dad loves learning about history so I took him on an afternoon historic tour. It was during the weekend and felt like we had the entire place to ourselves. From the moment we arrived we were greeted by very polite staff. Our tour guide, Mr. Stacy, was amazing and very knowledgeable about Cayman culture and history. He even gave us facts about the Caribbean and the Bay Islands. He also offered to take us pictures, which I truly appreciate. I personally was very impressed with the theatre room! Such a cool little spot. Will definitely bring more family and friends here to visit.

Must see destination. Inexpensive tour with good condensed version of history of this place and Island. The theater (short movie is played) is an amazing experience. One of a kind of theater experience. House is very nice to visit and take wonderful pictures to lock in memories. First destination to see when arrive to Island to set a nice mood. Anju, tour guide was friendly and great asset to the place. Oh, bathrooms are clean and also a restaurant on this property.

We loved this place, one of the highlights of our Grand Cayman trip! The tour guides are very energetic, knowledgeable, and passionate about the history of Pedro St. James. The rum tasting was a self-serve, so you definitely get all the rum you'd want to drink in an afternoon. The 1780 rum was delicious, very smooth. We bought some to bring back home (you can't purchase it anywhere else). This place is a must-see for the rich history, breathtaking views, and tasty rum!

Ms. Trisha was an amazing tour guide! From her personal history w/ the place to her sense of humor & overall knowledge, I learned a lot and thoroughly enjoyed the visit. The grounds & view out to the ocean are also breathtaking.

A Beautiful Location Full of History Easy to find, well sign posted, well organized, historically important site, highly informative about Caymanian culture and history, ample parking, guided tours or self-tours available. Friendly, helpful, & knowledgeable staff and guides. Lovely restaurant on site with ocean views & indoor and outdoor seating. Pedro St James is an important Caymanian historical site that combines a beautiful natural location with island, and world, history. A short informative film introduces the tour. There is information about the history and culture of Cayman at all the locations around the site.

3 stories 1 room each, unusual layout. Very interesting, nice historical movie/diorama. No place for people with mobility issues

The history is interesting. I was most intrigued by the construction materials and techniques. The grounds are nice to view. Like any docent toury, the experience varies by the docent.

It has alot of ole Caymanian type buildings and artifacts. Some animals and an awesome view of the ocean in the back with access to walk on the ironshore, which is 1 of the rocks that form our 3 beautiful Islands

Great place with history of the Islands and friendly staff. The show at the beginning is really informative and the light and sound effects are awesome! The entry fee is $15 CI , which is pretty good for what you get. If you want to do something other than be around water, or if you're a history buff, this is a quick detour that you should take!

Great views of the iron shore, and gorgeous venue - would be perfect for a lovely wedding venue. We just briefly stopped by to see the view rather than the actual historical site (due to limited time frame) but the staff were wonderful and understanding. Will definitely return to see the feature in the future
