I absolutely adore Honeybee! The shop is welcoming and friendly, and I’ve recommended it to several people since i started going. The decor is darling and the stylists can’t be beat. Crystal is always a joy to talk to and she does an incredible job and makes sure my hair is perfection. I’ve done everything from a trim to a drastic cut, complete with bleach and color and Crystal has been amazing at it all. 🥰

Been going to Liz for 7 years now and I’m never disappointed! She’s always willing to try something new or go with a tried and true cut. The staff at Honeybee are all so welcoming and friendly, and the design of the space always keeps my mind and eyes busy with each new visit. Can’t wait to see the expansion with the creation of the new collective!

I have been seeing Tara for 3 years and she is the best hairstylist I have ever had. She is extremely talented. What I love about Tara is that she ~listens~ to exactly what you want and executes it perfectly. If you have a vision she will give you advice about what is practical but ultimately her goal is to work with you to achieve what you would like. For reference I have dark curly hair and have had perfect haircuts consistently. Today, I got partial highlights and they were *perfect*. They were very subtle but exactly what I wanted! In addition I’ve always had excellent interactions with the other staff members including Meagen who has squeezed me to get a hair cut/color when I unexpectedly had to cancel an appointment. The online scheduling platform is awesome! I am moving and will be very sad to be leaving this salon. It’s really an Iowa City gem ❤️

Best haircut I have ever gotten! Tara is AMAZING- great cut, great conversation, and overall a great experience. So glad to have finally found my go-to hair place & stylist in Iowa City. I wish I could give more than 5 stars :)

I’m making an account to leave this review. It’s like any salon and you’ll get the same if not better quality anywhere else in the area especially if you want a basic cut. You’re not getting anything special except the furniture. The minute I walked in it was obvious the vibe was performative. The stylists even gossiped about the salon and remodel to me and my stylist straight up told me she doesn’t upsale or recommend products because people don’t need them. Which is fine because whatever they use dried my hair out. The haircut was exactly what I specified I didn’t want, I didn’t get the extra time I paid for and that was more obvious by the fact that I paid $100 to go home with a wet head of hair but what’s weirder is they don’t have a refund policy about any of it. The owner told me herself it’s by case because they expect that you’ll just let them keep chopping. Just an extremely disappointing experience, especially from the owner response to my issues with the quality. It’s gone very downhill in the last two years. If you like them already, keep going. If you’re trying somewhere new, keep looking.

Definitely the best place to get your hair cut in town. Liz is wonderful, but everyone has made it a warm, accepting place with no hate. I don't need to go anywhere else for my hair.

Have never had a hair parlor I liked more. Crystal is my go-to stylist, same goes for my wife and kids. Just a great great great place, and so glad they’re expanding!

Crystal is a kindhearted soul that enhanced my style without diminishing it! Super helpful with haircare and hairstyling tips and being honest about what would look good on me. She knew what she was doing because my haircut and brow wax turned out great :’)
