The short guy at the entrance was going to rip my foreign ID just cause it was not made of plastic. He was also going to scratch away my photo from it by claiming he's never seen an ID like that (of course, cause it was a FOREIGN id, but his ignorance and probably some alcohol wouldn't let him understand the concept). My colleagues were shocked. I'm a 40+ yo guy, I could be his father. Be careful to your employees, if he ripped my ID he would have seriously threatened my return in Europe, which could mean getting sued by both the US government for destroying an official Visa-related ID (with all the occurring costs) and by my State (EU), especially cause my ID is considered my State's property actually. How do I know these things? You don't wanna know. After I showed him my passport he was fine with it (ofc my passport, like any other passport, was made of paper as well, but that seemed fine to him, lol?). Just to let you know, bouncers should CHECK IDs, not manipulate and alterate them, that's a federal crime. Use your eyes, get off your hands from federal IDs. I use to come here frequently with my group, never seen anything like that. We were all speechless.

There is truly something magical about the Genna's patio on a nice day. It's my happy place. Great prices and great servers. A Madison classic I hope we never lose!

Our bartender, Tab, was amazing! He gave us excellent recommendations and also suggested extra places to go since we're new in Madison. It was so much fun and had excellent drinks.

Love going to Genna's! Such a relaxing rest stop on our bike ride. So nice that they welcome dogs outside too.

One of my favorite bars. Solid atmosphere, good staff, and a upstairs and outdoor area to relax.

This is one of those places that knows what it is and got no time for you if you don't agree; and I loved it. Clearly a local favorite, small selection of tap beers and some wine, small bar but it's a great place to just hang out and grab a drink with friends. Not fussy, and has a good amount of outdoor seating.

One of the best bars out there. I really enjoyed the long island iced tea up there. If you are in Madison. This is highly recommended !!!

Glad they were open late so we could go have another drink and listen to some more music after a concert in downtown Madison. We picked some songs out and then they closed before we even heard them.. Overall great to have places to meet late friends!

Gennas is a Madison staple. For good reason, it's better when you can find a seat late at night. But if not, look around for good company. It's around.

Great patio, fun indoor atmosphere and fun bartenders. Drinks won't blow your mind but they get the job done.

A great place for a cocktail. Outside patio seats are great for people watching. The service is always top drawer.

Love Genna's and always will. The patio. How the bathroom doors don't lock. Holding back a star bc in my latest experience, I stopped by with two co-workers, the server on the patio was attentive to them and not me. Like would ask if I wanted something, would bring their items and not mine. If it had happened once, who cares, say oops and move on. Felt weirdly personal??? tf. For the record, Genna's was my pick for hh lol.

Great Bloody Mary bar. You get to have breakfast and lunch. Lots of bloody condiments as you build your own bloody. Right off the capital square. We stopped in after a Farmers Market run around the square.

Love Gennas. One of my favorite bars to go to and show people when visiting. Only giving 4 stars because of the grumpy bald bartender. Two weeks in a row ordering from him has felt like he's taking it as an attack. He responded to me asking if he had a recommendation for a beer with, "I don't know dude just ordering something." I made the mistake of asking for a light beer to which he responded, "I don't drink beer just order something." If it was one weekend, fine, bad day, whatever. But this was two weekends in a row. Everyone else there is lovely.
