😠 The food was amazing! However, my stomach was turned by the owner who rudely greets her customers by saying "CLOSE THAT DOOR BEHIND YOU"! I went to lunch today with two of my colleagues (one that happens to be my 22 year old daughter). The owner stood at the cheese counter across from her employee's... People often mention owner,

The owner is obnoxious…. Alway a nasty face and a miserable attitude. She literally screams at the young employees that have the misfortune of working for her. It’s really too bad as the overall atmosphere is pretty, but if you like your dining with a side of nastiness, head there…. If not beware! Btw.. didn’t mention today, just in general… In any event…. That was my experience…. Along with others

I just went into Sydney's with my 14-year-old daughter, and the moment we entered we could feel the hostility in the air. The owner didn't greet us but she yelled at my daughter to close the door which my daughter did but would have done with a smile if it were requested kindly. My daughter was texting me the whole time asking why the owner was being so rude to her staff. The poor high school and college kids who work there were standing at attention, waiting for directions. The issue is if they were given responsibilities, they would rise to the occasion. Since the owner only yells at them, they stand there too scared to do anything unless directed. I won't be going back there, and I really wanted to tell those employees to run, not walk, because whatever they are making can't be worth the abuse. If this owner were a director on Wall Street or worked anywhere as a manager in a corporate environment, she would have been fired and cancelled already.

Rancid Moldy Cheese This is a sophisticated well-stocked and beautifully arranged and appointed specialty food shop. The young staff are enthusiastically helpful and informative. But there needs to be some awareness of the perils of selling severely spoiled perishable food. Green mold on $50 a pound overly-ripe Moliterno truffle cheese. Tomme de savoie that reeked of ammonia: spoiled over the hill cheese that should never have been given away, much less sold for a king’s ransom. These surprises awaited my return home today with these purchases. I have never had this experience at Mill Road Cheese Shop in Westhampton. In the spirit of wanting to patronize a local business I was very disappointed.

Sydney's is our go-to for everything from a quick sandwich to gourmet cheeses for entertaining and everything in between. Don't miss brunch starting again Fall 2022.

Bought a wrap in this shop. Asked for arugula on the sandwich. It came with no arugula and the wrap was so stale. I had to take it home and remake it on a piece of bread. They should be ashamed of themselves . Yeah, kids making the sandwiches should be much better trained!

The food was amazing! However, my stomach was turned by the owner who rudely greets her customers by saying "CLOSE THAT DOOR BEHIND YOU"! I went to lunch today with two of my colleagues (one that happens to be my 22 year old daughter). The owner stood at the cheese counter across from her employee's and barked unnecessary directions at them. Her young employees politely obliged in spite of her nastiness. I had a difficult time maintaining my composure as I observed this abuse. It was tantamount to a modern day sweatshop in the food service industry. We got our sandwiches and chose a seat out on the lawn as far away as we could from her barrage of negativity. I looked through the reviews prior to writing my own, and thought "Well, bad press is better then no press"..."I guess that's what this owner is going for"! Parents, if your young adults are working for this women, please guide them in a different direction. Positive work environments mean everything, especially when many times we spend more of our waking hours at work than anywhere else. SYDNEYS~Your food is good, but its not THAT good! Kindness Matters.

If you’re looking for an overpriced lunch with a massive side order of nastiness, then Sydney’s is your place. Here, if you have a legitimate question about the prepared foods, the owner will bark her answer at you with annoyance. If you don’t close the front door behind you when you arrive, she gets even more belligerent (advice: invest in a simple hinge that makes the door close on its own.) All of her young employees have the vacant, tortured look of a prison chain gang. Five minutes in her store explains why. She orders them around with ridicule and condescension, thus further adding to the stressful ambiance. The food is not worth having to endure this palpable hostility. On the first two visits, I chalked up her crackling crabbiness to just her having a tough day. But now after the owner recently completed a troubling trifecta of toxicity, I’ve sworn the place off. There are too many good places on Main Street in WHB these days where they still subscribe to the quaint notion that the customer is always right. At Sydney’s, the customer is always wrong. To answer your question, I was in once in late June, once in July and once in August. All three days you were there.

It is recommended that you call your order in before your arrival. All sandwiches and wraps are prepared by hand & to order. The food here is absolutely delicious and by far the best place to eat in WHB. Sydney’s cookies are to die for, the hazelnut is my recommendation along with the Alex wrap. Despite what some of these reviews say about the owner, this place should be first on your list. To avoid the frustration and behaviors, do to its customers, just call ahead!
