We had a very pleasant dinner at Johnny Carino's in Sioux falls South Dakota. The restaurant was busy even though it was 7:45 at night. Our server Natalie was very nice very friendly and very prompt with her service. They also had great support staff on duty. The spaghetti cacciatore was excellent as was the shrimp carbonara. The grandkids had macaroni and cheese and fettuccine alfredo which were both also very good. I had an Italian soda which tasted very authentic it wasn't too sweet and it wasn't too creamy. They have very good tiramisu and desserts as well. We definitely recommend Johnny Carino's in Sioux falls South Dakota if you are looking for a casual Italian dinner.

Save your money. Its wannabe Italian food. The chicken was way overcooked. The lasagna was plain as it could get. Mostly noodle with micro thin fillings and tasted the same as the spaghetti and the chicken. Meaning the same sauce was used for everything. No item had it's own distinctive flavor as it should be. The atmosphere was pleasant as well as the wait staff. Not authentic Italian

Johnny Carino's has some of the best Italian around the Sioux Falls area for a good price. Starting with the service, it was exceptional. I never caught what the lady's name was, but she was very upbeat while still maintaining her job and checking in on us the perfect amount no matter what our need was. She made the experience even better, and it was probably the best experience I've had with a waiter nationally. Now, getting to the food, it tasted exceptional with a classic Italian taste and perfect seasoning. The chicken parmasion was perfectly cooked and juicy, while the pasta and lasagna tasted outstanding. My friend ordered the crab ravioli and said it tasted amazing, so I will definitely be back when I'm in town to try it out. If you aren't trying to break the bank, but you still want to enjoy some authentic Italian food, this is the place to go.

Was very busy but we were seated quickly (less than 5 minutes) the food and service were great.

I ordered a lunch special and had a 16 layer lasagna and a Caesar salad. lasagna was there very delicate and I do know they make it fresh daily. These are not the thick heavy noodle layers, these were very delicate layers of noodles lots and lots of cheese and both beef and sausage I just loved it!

Excellent food and service

I stopped in for lunch today. Ordered the Mozz sticks for an appetizer, the spicy chicken pasta and the Lasagna. The mozz sticks were excellent as was the chicken pasta. What kept me from giving this place 4 stars was the crazy amount of pepper they put in the lasagna. My girlfriend took a bite and said she could smell the pepper before she even took the bite. It was good, just way too much cracked pepper. Any more and it would have been inedible. But, I'll be back for the Lobster ravioli and some cheesecake.

Service 12/10. Really great employees. The assistant manager seated us and explained the menu. It was a very nice touch. I've not often seen employees as eager to serve or as attentive as these. Atmosphere 10/10. Very relaxed environment. Almost like Italy and an all-American bar had a child. Low lights, nice decorations, and Rock music. Nachos 10/10 Exceeded expectations. Ingredients were hot and well prepared. I loved the various sizes you can get. Lasagna 8/10 It was flavorful, but I could tell it was reheated. The center wasn't as hot as it ought to have been. What's working: I feel like this restaurant offers great variety. There are customizable combos that allow you get what you're really craving. The small touches of quality make Johnny Carino's shine. What's not working: The variety is a double edged sword. I felt like it was trying to be "too many things" to me. It's not "just" an Italian restaurant, and maybe that's ok. The reheated lasagna was surprising. Perhaps too wide a menu has caused there to be operational difficulty in preparing everything and serving it hot. The Jalapeno Ravioli tasted a bit like a Mexican enchilada. It was well made, from scratch, but lacked that wholesome heartiness I was looking for in a Ravioli. Summary: Well done guys. I can see why you consistently win the local best. 😉 Amazing restaurant, and I can't wait to come back and try the pizza next time.

They have the best little loaves of bread! You've got to be careful when eating there, it's way too easy to fill up on that yummy bread! There are other food is fantastic as well. I believe they did a remodel sometime recently, and I do like the old look a little bit better. Still a great place!

All I have to say is that the food was delicious and the service was awesome. I can remember the name of the waitress but she was an African American lady with the greatest attitude and the greatest smile. The food was great but our waitress was the icing on the cake. I don't remember your name but thank you for making our experience so memorable..

We often visit for lunch or dinner when we are in town because our kids love the mussels here. Stella served our family last Saturday and it was the absolute best service we have ever had at Johnny Carino's! Thanks for making not only the food, but the experience fantastic for us. She thanked us for coming to eat there several times, and added a special thanks by including that we could have chosen to eat anywhere and she was thankful that we chose here so that she could take care of us.

I always have great lunch service here. The Cacciatore skillet is my favorite. Comes with soup or salad and free warm bread.

Wow just wow! My little sister just got married and had Johnny carinos cater her wedding. She worked with Jessica. My sister had such a stressful wedding due to the laurel ridge barn staff and her dj. But Johnny Carinos was the best part of her wedding!!! Jessica personally helped her with a passport situation. The bride had a melt down at the venue due to humiliation and while the laurel ridge staff werent concerned with this melt down Jessica stepped up and comforted my sister. She went above and beyond to personally make this a stress free time for her. The food was INCREDIBLE!!!! We asked about seconds and the guy she was working with was sooo polite and said of course!!! They had a bride and groom meal sent to where they were staying that night and a bottle of wine ♡ this was by far my little sisters favorite part of her wedding! These guys were amazing HIGHLY RECOMMEND!

Very accommodating! My 90 year old mother and I went for lunch. Didn't feel comfortable in the main dining room due to too many people. They seated us in a room off the main area. They were very understanding! Had a wonderful time! Great people!!!

Wasn't impressed with the chicken monterey it was literally swimming in a awful heavy red sauce!

We were a party of 8 for an anniversary dinner. Our waitress was very friendly and everyone really enjoyed their food. We got some fancy Italian sodas, which my youngest niece and I really loved. I was really surprised at the size of the entree salads - they were huge, and beautifully presented. My pasta was very good, as well.

Overall, a good experience. The oil with roasted garlic for dipping bread is delicious. My partner had the combo chicken parm + chicken ravioli with the jalapeño cream sauce. I first ordered the fettuccine Alfredo which was not good at all. The server brought me a Asiago Bowtie Festival Pasta is head w chicken and that was delicious!! Jeremy was a good server/bartender. Would recommend.

Good lasagna

Huge huge disappointment! Waitress super sweet and attentive. We've always got hot food and fairly quickly. Two tables who came after us were done and gone before we got our food. We waited almost an hour for our food. And it was warm not hot. My complaint is not with the food. The management was not apologetic. Upon talking to manager, he said, well the food was delivered to the wrong table. !!!???. Really? At the very least there should have been an adjustment on the bill. Not even offered, even after I said shouldn't there be some adjustment? Never had that kind of experience with a manager. And he said, "well the bottom of your plate was warm". That manager cost the restaurant return customers.

So today 1/7 was my first time here. Walked in to a very rude man berating the hostess. We were seated right away by polite staff, and our waitress was absolutely lovely. Shockingly this rude man was sat right next to us and I expressed reservations. The manager appeared and asked the rude man and his party to leave (the man fussed, but thankfully left). I’m so happy this manager was so supportive of his staff…wonderful to see! The rest of our visit was great and the food was absolutely fantastic. Today’s visit renewed my faith in humanity 😊

It could be something great. The biggest problem is they have very young Servers who are polite,but extremely inexperienced and inefficient. Getting a drink refill was lengthy. Ordering from the bar meant someone else had to bring it and they forgot. The food came out at different times, meaning the kids finished eating, about5 min before we began. One pizza was undercooked The food is good, but we never got oil for our bread and we waited and waited. It was not relaxing, enjoyable meal. We arrived at 545 and were seated immediately and after 20 min I had to go to the hostess station to let them know other tables have been sat and had bread and drinks and the Hostess said "I know, we're trying to find a Server for you" Good grief! Please train and empower these kids so they know what to expect from the kitchen and can get orders out, smoothly!

Very nice variety on the menu. Wait staff was great..friendly, attentive, and the service was very fast. I had the Italian Nachos and they were perfect. My friend had calamari and the order was twice the size she expected it to be for the price and she said it was delicious.

Stopped on Father's Day while road tripping. To take a break from the road, relax and eat. Service was good; our server was attentive and continued to check in even after food was dropped off. Food was as good as I remember.

I love Italian food, it is my all time favorite, so when I get the chance to have it I am all in! I googled the Italian eateries in the area 2 days before we made the drive to Sioux Falls. I did my research and decided on Johnny Corino's. We had never been there before so I was really looking forward to this dinner. The food was really good 👍 but the service was so bad that we are not likely to go back! When I say bad I mean horrible! When we got our appetizer we didn't get any plates. We waited for our server to come back with our plates but he never did? Our appetizer was stuffed mushrooms with a cream sauce how are two people going to eat that without plates to serve it on? After several minutes we asked one of the bus girls to get us a couple of plates and she did so, in between our appetizer and our meals our waiter never came back to ask us how our appetizer was or if we needed anything which I needed extra napkins ,never got those! finally when our meal did come the manager brought our meal he parmesaned it and left. our waiter never came by to check to see if our meal was satisfactory ,if we liked it ,nothing ! I drank all of my beverage ,our setver walked by our table twice and never offered a refill ,at the same time three other servers walked by , being a server myself I set the glass on edge of the table so it could be seen not one staff member got me a refill on my drink! to me that is unacceptable! our plates were never cleared from our appetizer neither was the skillet the appetizer was served in I was just not impressed and neither was my husband! I was very disappointed ☹️!

We had a great meal here. Awesome service from Katie. It's a nice casual atmosphere. Family friendly. The bread is delicious and all our meals were very good.

First time coming here yesterday. I'm here for work and wanted to give it a try. It was just me and there was a bit of a wait. They took my number and texted me when there was a table ready. It took around 15 minutes which wasn't bad. My server was great and attentive even though she had a full section. I got two Almafi Strawberry lemonades which were delicious. Their bread was soft and warm and it came with oil with crushed red pepper flakes. I got the regular size of fried calamari. It was a perfect portion for me. It was hot, buttery, and fresh. For my main I had gotten the seafood fettuccine. It was wonderful. It had mussels, calamari, and shrimp. I had it with their creamy Alfredo sauce which I think paired perfectly. To top it all off I had their tiramisu. It was creamy, soft, and just the right amount of richness and sweetness. Absolutely will be back when I am back in town.

My husband and I really like Johnny Carinos! The service is very good as well as the food. It would be nice to have a few more gluten free options for my husband, but he was able to find things he liked.The only negative is that oftentimes, the music is too loud.

On 10/7/23 our waitress Stella was absolutely amazing! She made our night! She does an outstanding job and is so bubbly and friendly! When we come back we will definitely ask to be seated in her section! She is what it is to be a waitress. As a former waitress I can’t thank her enough for how she treated us and took care of us!♡

Really, really great Italian food. I had the baked cheese tortellini and it was fantastic. Great portion size, especially for a lunch portion. And what can I say about the service?!? I don't remember our server's name, but she was a real hoot! She was funny, caring, attentive, and made us feel welcome and cared for. Thanks for a great time!

Best place i have been to in a long time. Staff is friendly and the waitress Liz was so professional and kind. It isna warm family atmosphere and even if it is a date night with your other half it is Romantic.

My husband and I ate here back in September while on a weekend get away. We loved it so much we ate here both nights. Now if we could find a way to have it shipped to Des Moines,Ia We would be a repeat customer for sure . Excellent food.And our waitress Sierra was friendly and excellent at her job.

We have ate at Carinos quite a bit since moving to Sioux Falls. We enjoy it for the most part. I am on a new strict diet and decided to order to go the Cedar Plank Salmon. Its described online as, "Marinated in Italian herbs, topped with sautéed artichoke hearts, Roma tomatoes, spinach and a wine lemon butter sauce, with fresh vegetables" my salmon came with side pasta and spinach. No artichoke hearts or roma tomatoes or fresh vegetables. I couldnt eat the pasta and the spinach tasted off to me. The presentation was really pretty and the salmon was fresh. I love Carinos, but was so disappointed that my meal wasn't as described. I was at work and this was brought to me so I didnt have the chance to call or return for a corrected order.

Great food. Had the chicken parmesan and breaded mozzarella. The bread with the dipping oil they serve complimentary is amazing.

Got the Spicy shrimp and chicken pasta, so delicious. Not as spicy as I'd like, so I get a little more cayenne pepper on the side to add a bit more heat, but just as delicious with out it. When I'm done, I like using the fresh bread to sop up the remaining sauce! Portion size is great, and this dish is great for leftovers, as it heats up nicely, and the sauce doesn't break!

Edit: Darren (Manger/Owner?)was nice enough to reach out for specifics of our visit. I'll call and give details. Appreciated his concern. The food was very good. Service was a bit lacking. I believe our waiter failed to submit our order as we waited for over an hour for our food and two tables around us got their food before us?! We will be back but not sit idle if food is delayed again. Of note: no separators between patrons, very cramped and close proximity to others. Mask were worn by staff, but not by many patrons. No handheld menus, scan code with phone to see menu and then order with waiter. They still take your glass to refill instead of using a pitcher, except for water.

Easy lunch seating. Understaffed but quick service. When an error was made hey were quick to correct it.

Upon my sister’s recommendation, we decided to try Carino’s for the 1st time. We ordered online and were informed it would an hour. We arrived, called and our server brought out our order. We noticed only 2 loaves of bread, and on the phone we had requested 5. Our server quickly went in to grab us more. While he was inside, we looked in our bag and realized our order was wrong. We had ordered 3 family meals and instead had received 3 entrees. When we told our server, he went in and talked with his manager. They got us our corrected order, plus more bread, plus $10 toward a future order—all within 15 minutes. And they only charged us for the entree price! Excellent customer service and quick response to right the order!
