👍👍 This is one of the most special places, both the cafe and hammock shop: 1. the cafe is super good quality, perfect prices and the most amazing service personnel who take all the time to communicate / teach you sign language. 2. the hammock production is simply out of world. I gave them a design, ask... People often mention good, nice, cafe, service, coffee, Granada, lugar, great, hammock, people,

Fantastic cafe that employs the deaf and helps the community in soooooo many ways. Tio Antonio is there and needs your help to keep this project active. It has been completely self-sufficient for years but after the recent politics and loss in tourism, they are struggling. Come have a great meal and buy a hammock or 10 from their store! Tell your friends. Amazing place!!!!

This is one of the most special places, both the cafe and hammock shop: 1. the cafe is super good quality, perfect prices and the most amazing service personnel who take all the time to communicate / teach you sign language. 2. the hammock production is simply out of world. I gave them a design, asking if they could produce it. They transformed it into the most beautiful hammock. Far beyond my expectations. All handmade, 100% personalized, soooo stunning and supporting handicapped workers. If you are thinking about getting a hammock, THIS IS YOUR PLACE. Price, quality and service are outstanding. Support this beautiful vision for a more inclusive and fair world! ❤️

(Translated by Google) Be sure to drop by for breakfast, lunch, or coffee. The day café is an initiative for hearing-impaired and dumb people who work here. A clear map with pictures helps when ordering fresh juices, crepes, burritos or burgers and more. Everything also vegetarian (Original) Unbedingt zum Frühstück, Mittagessen oder Kaffee vorbeischauen. Das Café wird von Gehörlosen geführt, beachtlich! Die Verständigung Geschichte durch Zeigen auf die Speisekarte. Kein Problem. Sollte man ausprobieren. Es gibt sehr gute Hängematten zu kaufen, die auch selbst hergestellt werden. Beste Gelegenheit in Granada!!

Very nice project, with welcoming people, providing chances to work! The waitress in the coffee was extremely friendly. They sell the beautiful hammocks made there and also took the time to explain the whole project.

This cafe is also associated with a business that sells hammocks and other craft items made by folks that are deaf or hard of hearing on site in their workshop. Some artwork around as well. Nice spot. We got some nice gifts here. We didn't eat at the Cafe itself.

Fantastic place for a coffee or quick bite to help support the local deaf community. Cards with sign language were on the table so you could easily order and help servers. This is a great idea and we would come back.

They do a lot of amazing work. The restaurant has a few good vegan options. Delicious fruit smoothies. Really nice staff. Around 120 Cordoba for a main dish.

Amazing little cafe, but it is way more than that and words are too weak to explain the experience. If you are in Nicaragua just go and live this place. Located in a beautiful colonial age building very close to Parque Central, this is not only a cafe in a popular tourist destination but a true revolutionary social project that gives a voice and a vision to deaf-mute and blind Nicaraguan child. You will have the chance and pleasure to communicate your order to hearing impaired but extremely charming Nicaraguan young adults. You can also see, next to the cafe, these super talented, some visually impaired/blind, workers making amazingly beautiful hamacs I would never be able to make even with extra eyes. We also had the chance of meeting el "Tío" of these kids a charming and friendly Spaniard/Nicaraguan that came on vacation but ended up staying forever in Nicaragua. He truly seems to love these kids and has several other social projects aiming to improve his adopted homeland.

Enjoying delicious food in a nice atmosphere with great kind customer service. So nice to have this concept where you support local community and in the same time offer good quality services. I ordered an spanish tortilla, ice tea and coffee. The coffee was even way better then the one I had in Colombia. The best is all the personal smiles at you, always treated with a smile.

Quiet little oasis in the middle of the city. They employ deaf people and also have a store with handmade handicrafts/souvenirs.

Some decent food at a great price, for a really good cause. This is a place that provides employment for the deaf through making hammocks. They also have a small cafe where they provide a minimum menu of food. The atmosphere is a nice quite place to relax and enjoy a meal. Be sure to bring cash, they do not accept credit cards.

I am a teacher and taught Deaf education in Canada. I was incredibly moved by my experience meeting some of the wonderful folks at Cafe de las Sonrisas, and was happy to find that I could converse using ASL even though Nicaraguan sign language is its own unique language. There is enough overlap that myself and Irma could easily understand one another. The atmosphere is very welcoming and you can see the love and care put into this environment. I definitely recommend checking it out and buying a few items to support the wonderful cause of inclusive employment opportunities!

I had a delicious lunch at Smile cafe. The toastie and burrito were both very tasty, and the service was fast and staff very friendly. It was very good value for money. We didn’t know when coming here that the staff are deaf and it was a really lovely surprise. I even learnt a few words in sign language!

Fantastic place - well worth a visit. We went as a group for breakfast (which was tasty) but the main joy is in its staff. We had a small lesson in sign language and learnt about the project. Brilliant, please support.

I like the idea behind this venue, supporting deaf people. But the coffee wasn't nice and the service was very poor, almost non-existent. Had this been any other cafe I'd've given 2 or 3 stars. I've added more because it's for a good cause. That feels like positive discrimination which doesn't sit well with me...

There should be a category above 5 stars and this place should be there. Such a great project. Every tourist in granada should come here to eat, to have a coffee or simply buy one of the art pieces and contribute!

This restaurant has great food and the owner has one of the biggest hearts. Ask for him to tell you about his journey and how he helps the disabled children. His employees are all young deaf and disabled and they also make hammocks sold around the world.

Admittedly I never tried the food, but the hammock workshop was really neat. This is the best place to buy a quality hammock in Granada. The really nice ones (large, colorful and with decorations) can run around $50-75USD.

This is a must stop for everyone visiting Granada. However, unfortunately, they will soon be leaving Granada and moving to Managua. It’s worth stopping by for breakfast and helping to support local members of the community - most employees in the restaurant are deaf. We also purchased a beautiful hammock, hammock chair and many different kinds of handmade jewelry.
