Probably the best Hotel in Cochabamba that I’ve stayed in. I was given a free room upgrade. The staff were super helpful and friendly, their english is limited but a great opportunity to practice your spanish. From a small entrance, it opens up inside to a very large courtyard, with swimming pools. The gym was well equipped. Only thing I’d mention is the breakfast menu is the same every day, but they have a variety of options so wasn’t a problem.
This hotel has very attentive staff willing to make your stay as comfortable as possible. Rooms are clean, breakfast has a myriad of options, and it’s located within walking distance to many attractions. It is a very busy hotel, so it was difficult at first to get accustomed to so much noise, but it wasn’t an inconvenience.
Staff were kind, pool was beautiful, and breakfast was delicious. Unfortunately, upon leaving we were charged a fee for extra laundry services. My one year old daughter had eaten room service in the bed and the sheets were dirty. I would assume in a 5 star hotel that all bedding is washed between each customer, but clearly they need to be paid extra to wash all the bedding. Where does the money go for renting the room if not to laundry between clients? If they cannot afford to wash the sheets between customers, then they should not allow children or room service. Maybe this is a cultural misunderstanding, but we were let down and began to criticize the experience. This includes: outdated bathrooms, a mistake in the room service order, and multiple phone calls to our room about when we would check out which left us feeling unwelcome. Maybe this was a unique experience to just us, but we feel as though we should have chosen another place to stay in Cochabamba.
Located conveniently close to both the city center and the city’s new commercial areas, the Gran Hotel Cochabamba is a practical choice for visitors. It is one of the few large hotels in the area that offers a pool and ballrooms, which makes it quite well-known. However, the rooms are divided between new towers and an older courtyard, where the rooms are in urgent need of an upgrade. The service is good but falls short of excellent, and the price-to-quality ratio is definitely lacking. The hotel has both a Factory restaurant and a Juan Valdez Café on-site; however, only purchases at Factory can be charged to your room, and Juan Valdez is the only place to get decent coffee for breakfast, which complicates the morning routine.
