The Cathedral of Naples, specifically the Chapel of St. Januarius, is an absolutely breathtaking sight to behold. The cathedral's architecture, history, and unique artwork create a mesmerizing experience that is often regarded as a must-see for any tourist visiting Naples. The chapel is known for its magnificent craftsmanship, its interesting collection of precious and historical objects, and, most notably, the tomb of St Andrew the Apostle. However, the exterior of the cathedral can be deceiving as it's tucked away in the back streets and doesn't appear extraordinary at first glance. But once you step inside, the beautiful glow from the sun beaming through the windows will leave you awe-struck. The Duomo's claim to fame is the vial of the blood of St Gennaro, the patron saint of Naples. The legend of the solidified blood turning liquid twice a year creates a sense of intrigue. However, it's essential to note that the church itself can get quite crowded with tourists. The adjacent museum is also home to a collection of high-value jewels, statues, busts, precious fabrics, and paintings. The entrance fee is €12, and it includes an audio guide with detailed descriptions, which is quite handy for getting more insights into the history of the place. Although the cathedral is free, the museum is worth the extra cost.

This church was so beautiful, and we are so glad we ventured in. I was stunned silent and felt a wave of peace. Did a little prayer and respected everyone there. So glad we made it here.

The chapel of Saint Januarius in Naples Italy ( entrance is free) is a chapel within a Cathedral, one of the oldest in Naples, where the remains of the Saint protector of Naples lay since Roman times. It is today one of the major attractions in Naples. It is easy to reach via metro (subway) and is within reach of many other Cathedrals and places of historic interest such as via dei Tribunali & Spaccanapoli which are the oldest streets in Naples Italy, where visitors can find miriads of boutiqes, little food stalls, bars, restaurants and curio shops. It is undoubtedly a remarkable experience for any visitor. A good advice on this, is to wear comfortable shoes as walking is a must in order not to miss all the little treasures the city has to offer. The new Art metro is an experience not to be missed either, in addition to it's beautiful aircon setup, it is one of the best transportation method to get around the city fast, and to access Vomero the upper side of the city, where breathtaking views can be enjoyed from the top of Castel Sant Elmo. Pavements in some parts of Naples can be narrow, so wheelchair access can be difficult. This historical city once named by ancient Greeks as Partenope, will leave visitors hearts and minds filled with glorious memories.

Just worth noting that remember to bring something to cover your shoulders if you are wearing a sleeveless top. We didn’t see any signs about this! The chapel was beautiful and great to have a quick look round. Interesting part of history and worth a visit when in Naples.

Amazing place, cool architecture, not very crowded and just striking after having walked on the narrow streets of the old center of Naples for hours. It was a very nice and meditative and chill breather.

Waited around 30min for the church to open and were left with disappointment. 3pm on a Thursday and everyone in Naples are having a siesta. Ask the locals for opening hours before venturing out to the streets

The Cathedral is hidden away in the back streets... and doesn't look much from the outside, but when you get inside... WOW The sun beats through the windows to give a beautiful glow to proceedings.

This chapel is a real jewel. It contains baroque frescoes by Domenichino and Lanfranco, paintings by Jusepe de Ribera (especially notable the one to the left of the entrance), but especially a huge array of silver sculpture. The bust of San Gennaro with an episcopal mitra was made by French smiths in the Angevin era.

The Naples Duomo's claim to fame is the it houses a vial of the blood of St Gennaro, the patron saint of Naples. The solidified blood supposedly turns liquid twice a year. It the liquefaction does not happen it will mean an impending disaster for Naples. The church itself is fairly ordinary and a touch too busily decorated.

Breathtaking. On par with other historic Italian cathedrals in Rome and Florence. Still actively a place of worship and observance so reassuringly peaceful. Free moving inside but steps mean difficult access(with pram).

Incredible craftsmanship, art, and, of course, the tomb of St Andrew the Apostle was the best part!
