One of my favourite places to eat, the food is so clean and delicious. Every time I eat from here I feel happy and satisfied. The food makes you feel good and energised. I have not tried everything on the menu yet but my top picks are the Smoky BBQ miso roll and Jalapeño and eggplant chilli roll. The shokupan bread is incredible, taste is beautiful and so light and fluffy. Falafels are also one of my favourites as well as the matcha and hojicha latte. The first time I tried the sourdough donuts I was so impressed!! The best donut I’ve ever had. The staff are also very professional and friendly. I always love eating at Comeco oods and they are a must try.

Absolutely one of my favourite Japanese Cafe. They have one of the healthiest lunch menus in Newtown. My favourite is tempura and onigiri plate as well as hojicha/ matcha latte. Never knew vegan Japanese cuisine could taste so good. Convenient that they sometimes open at night for desserts and drinks (need to try their sugarfree matcha gelato), Comeco is my go to place for a late coffee when working on the weekends. Apart from food and drinks, the owner and the team members are very caring and polite, I remember one time during my visit in winter they provided customers with blankets, so thoughtful of them. Will definitely return!!

We got the small sushi plate today for take away and it was delicious. Easy ordering and collection. It was a busy spot around 12, so I’d say get there a bit earlier if you would like a table inside!

Absolutely delicious Japanese food, everything is vegan from the sushi to the katsu curry, they even do sourdoughnuts that are crazy good. It's busy, for all the right reasons. Highly recommended.

I ordered some goodies from Comeco to surprise my partner for his lockdown birthday. The customer service provided by Yu and his team was amazing, quick reply always and lots of communication on when they would be delivered so we weren’t waiting around all day. We ordered the lotus chips, falafels and a few donuts. But the sushi was the stand out for me. Definitely the best vegan sushi in Sydney.

This is my favourite dish the onigiri plate (available on weekdays, limited quantity, check menu beforehand). If you want this dish I highly recommend to pre order online if possible. Beautiful cafe with delicious food and made with love and care - I have been here several times and love it each time. On the weekend they have sushi 🥰💖! Hojicha latte was done just the way I like it - simply amazing and their new flavour Yuzu custard doughnut was made to perfection (my other fave is the matcha or red bean 😍❤️ love Japanese flavours and their menu and better yet everything is vegan. This place really encapsulates the home food feeling and each element is made with love, care and perfection. A true little gem and cutest small business 💖🥰💎. Please note there is limited seating so at times I have opted for take away and I love coming here! The staff are hard working, nice and I'm so thankful to this place. The owners are so lovely and kind hearted 😭🥰 I'll be back!

One of the best vegetarian places that I’ve been to! A friend introduced me to this place and I’ve loved my experience here. I got to try the onigiri plate and i was blown away by the quality of the dish and the level of detail and attention that goes into making it. The onigiri was lovely and I was very surprised by the tempura and the complimentary green tea salt. Didn’t think it could work so well that I was genuinely mind blown. Definitely recommend trying this during the weekday! I also got to try out the yuzu custard doughnut, sweet potato brownie and the hojicha latte which was just as amazing and worth trying it out. The sourdoughnut was sweet and which was balanced out by the hojicha latte. Will definitely be visiting again to have more of the onigiri plate and sour doughnuts

After the first lockdown.. I attended and got an iced matcha latte.. It took a little too long for my liking for me to get my iced matcha latte. But I've been back several times despite the wait times. Goddam, the donuts !!!! Do yourself a favour and try them !!!!!! I love the mugs the hot drinks come out with. The hojicha, the matcha, the black sesame - hot or cold - they're all so good, its like being in Japan but without paying for the flights and accomodation..

Super excited to visit from the Central Coast with my sister and I was not disappointed!! If only I ate slower, those donuts were gone before I knew it. Absolutely delicious 😋 And btw the owner is fantastic....very calm, caring and attentive to his customers....this is how a business should be run!

Came with with a group of 3 and was pleasantly surprised (didn't actually realise it was vegan till I arrived). Really lovely staff and owner! I think we got the wrong sushi but it was still delicious. Curry was tasty, though wasn't a fan of the texture of the donuts. A shame we couldn't get the set menu that's only on weekdays but looking forward to come back for that. My friend said she would come back for the matcha latte (cold) too!

What a great concept. As a fan of Japanese food, I couldn't help to go here on recommendation by my family member. The only thing I would say is that the curry itself was served a little cold. Happy to come back and try the other dishes!

Omg food here is amazing, from the pastry to the sushi and the curry. I regret not going earlier to try it out! My partner is not vegan and he loved it.

The donuts were so delicious the fillings are great. Highly recommend the black sesame seed one! The service is very friendly, they also make great recommendations if you get stuck. There’s not a lot of seating so come early if you want to eat in.

Our first choice for food whenever we’re in Newtown. The doughnut are delicious, and there are so many options for those with dietary requirements. Completely vegan, and gluten free! To top it all off, the owner is lovely and always welcoming!

The best gluten free donuts in Sydney, their curry and sushi are wonderful. You can tell a lot of love has gone into the food; everything is vegan, gluten free and shellfish free but you wouldn’t be able to tell. They use fresh and locally sourced ingredients. Lovely family business and always welcoming with great service. One of my favourite places to go in Newtown for food and coffee.

Comeco is such a lovely spot in Newtown that offers an entirely gluten free and vegan menu. This is my second visit and both visits have been an amazing experience. The sushi here is some of the best in Sydney. We got the Sukiyaki curry roll, jalapeño eggplant roll and the monthly special Agedashi roll, all were incredible. The donuts were so yummy as well, we got a sesame custard and lemon peel custard donut. The owner is always so friendly and greets everyone with a warm smile. Highly recommend this spot!

Happy review here, delicious food and probably one of the best coffee and alternative (to coffe) you can have. 5 star service, super welcoming and friendly stuff. Thanks again for the beautiful experience.

Plum sourdough donut ($6.50) & aburi eggplant teriyaki ($15). Unfortunately the sushi was too expensive for something so simple. Filling was just carrot and cucumber topped with a thin slice of eggplant. Portion size also small. On the bright side, staff are really friendly and its family owned/run so always happy to support. Would probably stick to the curry or other dishes though :(

Love this place, my new favourite vegan place in newtown! staff is lovely and everything is yummy : curry, sweet potato brownies, donuts, nice teas. love that they’re trying to use organic products as much as possible! the only thing to improve would be to have brown rice sushi. thanks a lot for providing healthy, delicious organic and vegan food !

Another vegan gem on King Street! Extremely polite & welcoming staff. The food is nothing short of wonderful and the freshly made donuts are simply delicious. Even if you’re staying in the Sydney CBD, it’s only a 20-ish minute bus ride to the top of King Street, then take a wander along to take in all there is to offer before stopping off at this delightful café.

I have been here a few times for the sourdoughnuts but today I was finally able to try the weekday tempura and onigiri lunch plate special which was extremely delicious. The sourdoughnuts are already amazing and unique and I thought unbeatable, but they recently brought out a new sweet potato sourdoughnut which is equally, if not more delicious. Growing up, I had severe allergies to eggs, diary and nuts which made eating out difficult and sometimes stressful. That's why I can relate to the story behind comeco and I admire their hard work to develop delicious foods that meets their philosophy of 'all people, with or without dietary restrictions, could have the same food and spend good times together.' I will definitely come back :)

Great tempura lunch special. Portions size was just right and tasted like being back in Japan. It does get busy here so I recommend coming a little early to avoid the queues.

Stumbled with this chic vegan cafe in Newtown. Although the place is not huge, it comes with huge vibes. Service was fast and efficient. I ordered a weekday lunch special set $19.80 with adds on $3.50 vegan karaage and $5 sourdoughnut. I also ordered ice coffee which a bit weak for my liking and a tiny serve of lotus chips for $6.50. The sourdoughnut was quite chewy. It tasted quite strange for me. Maybe I’m just a fans of normal donuts 😂 I heard the sweet potato one was better. Overall it was enjoyable meal, especially the onigiri rice on the set and karaage. The cafe is also environmentally friendly.
