No visit to Longwood Gardens isn't complete without a visit to the House. What I enjoyed most was the informative video about the life of Mr. DuPont. He never had any children and his father died in an explosion caused by chemicals. Better living through chemistry as the old saying goes. Further down the path is the pretty lake and Italian fountains. Expect a lot of walking when you visit the Gardens. I walked just under seven miles this visit and it was well worth it!

A magnificent part of Longwood Gardens, this historic house allows you to step back in time and get a glimpse of life when the family lived there Entrance is included in the Longwood Garden ticket cost, and worth a stroll through such a well maintained property.

Love visiting Longwood Gardens any time of the year. Outside holiday lights were AWESOME! They added more beautiful lights this year! Conservatory was gorgeous! Organ console recital really adds to the festive mood! Hot Chocolate was delicious, but very, very HOT! Longwood never disappoints!

Seriously, every time I go, I recharge with serenity, peace, and love. My mom just came over to visit, and we took her to appreciate this wonderful and historic place. The day was perfect ...awesome weather, aromatic flowers, friendly staff, and delicious food. My only regret was that we couldn't stay for the water show. Overall, it was simply amazing.

This house shows you a glimpse into the duPonts and their connection to Longwood. It's filled with little nooks and crannys to discover and is another Longwood show stopper.

A nice house with a rich history on the premises of Longwood Gardens. There is a beautiful greenhouse inside the house, as well as a historical exhibit in an adjacent room. The house is preserved well. However, the quality of the exhibit was pretty lackluster.

Very beautiful house. Very well maintained and decorated for Christmas. There is a information clip you can watch that gives you some history as well as information placards located throughout the house.

The former home of the Duponts, the original section built by the Peirce family, the original owners of the property, hence the name. Full of sweet videos and exhibits about the Du Pont family and the construction of the gardens. A picture here shows Pierre Du Pont at age 16, standing with the rest of his sizable family and taken shortly after his father's death by chemical explosion. Pierre already looked so old. Maybe it was the result of the weight of needing to step up to be head of his family. Maybe this was the reason he never had children of his own and instead doted on his neices and nephews. A very humanizing view of the man.

Have been coming to Longwood Gardens since the mid-1960s with my parents as a child and never took the time to come and visit the Dupont House. As I got older and my parents stopped bringing me I had never been back to the Gardens until my wife decided she wanted to come visit and take a lot of photos of flowers and the like. We had membership for a couple years prior to her passing and during that time we walked the entire gardens and visited every building that was open to the public. Finding out the history of the gardens through the tour of the Dupont house here was quite interesting and well worth the time we took to do it. If you do visit make sure you stop and watch the video and don't just walk through the house since the video helps to explain a lot of the history of Longwood.

Always love visiting Longwood Gardens this time of year. Decorations are wonderful. Can be very cold if you explore outside, which you should definitely do. You have to purchase tickets ahead of time because there do limit entry.

It's a very beautiful area to visit, especially since it details the history of the DuPont family and Longwood Gardens. However, the second floor and other areas are closed off.

A true look at horticultural history. On the grounds of Longwood gardens, but easily missed due to some of the more spectacular exhibits, such as the outdoor fountains. Nice to visit especially in winter because as use it has a beautiful indoor garden. Spectacularly maintained. Beautiful details.

Very cool. The story of his farm that became Longwood Gardens is fascinating.

It is inside Longwood gardens and entry to the house is included in the ticket. There is a beautiful conservatory as you enter. Access is provided only to one floor of the house. There is nothing much to see compared to the Winterthur castle.

Beautiful and well taken care of. I wish I lived closer. So many beautiful sights...to delight my soul. Will return next spring to view the wisteria! Spectacular
