Prinsep Ghat is a ghat built in 1841 on the Kolkata bank of the Hooghly River in India. The Palladian porch in the memory of the eminent Anglo-Indian scholar and antiquary James Prinsep was designed by W. Fitzgerald and constructed in 1843. There is no entry fee. You can enter visit the monument, sit at the lawn and take pictures at your will. Having street food and watching the sunset with your loved ones beside the Ganga is one helluva memory anyone will cherish forever. This place has paid boat ride option too. Prinsep Ghat also has a railway station named after it. The station is part of the Kolkata Circular Railway which is maintained by Eastern Railway. The station code is PPGT. There is a jetty nearby called the Man-O-War jetty that belongs to the Kolkata Port Trust and commemorates the role played by the port in the Second World War. The jetty is mainly used by the Indian Navy.

A beautiful place to visit for couples, friends and families. You can have a fine view of Vidyasagar Setu from here. Specially the night view of Ganga will amaze you the most. Can enjoy a boat ride for 500/- to 800/-. The Pav-bhaji of Princepghat is really famous and delicious and you must try that atleast once.

Built in the memory of James Princep (1799 - 1840), a British Indologist, who served as the Secretary of the Asiatic Society, Princep Ghat is currently used as a venue for several cultural festivals. Its gardens are an idyllic spot to relax in natural beauty.

If you visit Princep Ghat, don't miss this particular place or 'Ghat'. I think this is the most attractive place among the entire Pricep Ghat area. Try to visit here at afternoon time and witness the mesmerizing sunset view. Colourful boats are available here to give you a beautiful boating experience on the Hooghly River.

Here are some of the things you can do at Princep Ghat: Enjoy the sunset: The sunsets over the Hooghly River are simply stunning, and Princep Ghat is one of the best places to view them. Take a boat ride: There are a number of boat operators who offer rides on the Hooghly River. This is a great way to see the city from a different perspective and to get up close to the ghats. Visit the Prinsep Monument: This Grecian-style building commemorates James Prinsep, who was a British archaeologist and scholar. The monument is located in the park on the grounds of the ghat. Relax in the park: The park on the grounds of Princep Ghat is a great place to relax and enjoy the fresh air. There are a number of benches and trees where you can sit and people-watch. Learn about the history of Kolkata: Princep Ghat is a historically significant site, and there are a number of plaques and monuments that commemorate its history. You can also learn about the history of Kolkata by visiting the nearby Indian Museum. Here are some tips for visiting Princep Ghat: The best time to visit Princep Ghat is in the evening, when the crowds are smaller and the sunset is beautiful. Wear comfortable shoes, as there is a lot of walking involved. Bring a camera, as you will want to capture the beautiful views of the river and the city skyline. Be respectful of the religious ceremonies that are taking place at the ghat. Be aware of your surroundings, as there are a number of people who may try to sell you things or scam you. Overall, Princep Ghat is a beautiful and historic ghat that is worth visiting if you are in Kolkata. It is a great place to relax, enjoy the river, and learn about the history of the city.

The boat ride thing is overrated. Dirty and smelly … the boat guys are also not very warm. Ok for local travellers and kids etc who want to boat ride. Can definitely be avoided by matured travellers. If still opting for the ride try negotiating well. The authorities should work harder on keep the place clean at least.

The boat rides here are a bit expensive. They charge 400 per boat for 30 mins but the time varies depending on the crowd. They kinda take a small turn if they see people to make few extra bucks. But the view from the boat is so amazing. Definitely worth a visit!

A good place to visit with family and friends. The place is well maintained and has an open view of Hooghly river. The Second Hooghly Bridge looks magnificent and makes us feel proud of modern Indian Architecture. It is an example of great technical excellence of our engineers.

If you want to spend your evening watching magical sunsets over the river Ganges this is your place to be. Nearest metro station will be Esplanade or you can take a local train to Babughat. You can take a boat ride or just sit and watch the sunset with a cup of tea!! There are many other food options as well. The place generally remains crowded on weekends. You can watch the Ganga Arati as well which starts from 6:30 in the evening.

Wonderful view of sunset. One should reach by around 0500 pm so that you can see the beautiful sunset. Place for spending couple hours in the evening. Can take a ferry for 30 mins and watch a close view of Howrah Bridge 2. The ferry charges 100 rs per person for 30 mins.

Great for couples. The place has a serene beauty of the river. The view of Vidyasagar Setu is mesmerizing. The best place for a couple to visit. In the evening, couple can easily make out kiss. The place offers a very romantic view as well. There are many vendors Available for water, snacks. Families please avoid to visit as a lot of PDA happening.

Nice place to chill out and have a stroll with your friends. At sunset, it has amazing view due to the reflection of the setting sun from the hooghly river. There are some food stalls and thelaas, where you can get cheap street food. Not exactly such an attractive place, no need to spend time if you're in hurry.

This place is fairly well maintained. The boat ride however is something I would personally recommend given that they literally take you 100 meters into the river and bring you back at the dock. For 400 rupees they could do better. Nonetheless still a fun experience.
