Great and welcoming staff, warm hideaway french cafe

The setting is tranquil. The food is well-presented and of good quality. The service was very slow on the day we went and we had to approach the waiter to get menus. He apologised for not assisting us and said he was on duty alone. We’ve dined there a few times and the service is always friendly and the food is good.

The waiter was friendly, welcoming and chatty, that we appreciated! But the food must be improved... Before we placed our order for burgers and beef fillet, we have warned the waiter to get it right (medium well), we spoke in English, French and there was no miscommunication or whatsoever, we also showed pictures. We also told to the waiter that we saw other people's reviews in Google who were not happy with medium rare/half raw burger meat. Unfortunately the beef fillet arrived medium rare, and I sent it back to cook it more. But the problem was also that the piece of meat is too big and whenever I have this dish outside of Mauritius, they do a butterfly cut to make sure they can cook it properly. Long story short, the beef fillet was not to appropriate standards even after returning it to Chef. Burgers were also not cooked well. So where is the problem? With a Chef? Or with a waiter communication to the chef? We will let the owner of the place to figure it out and do a proper check on staff and Chef and guests satisfaction. We did not consider returning to this cafe for next meal and can not recommend it further. Another improvement is needed with Salad Nicoise. The potato pieces were massive, that should not be the case. For this salad, baby potato is used. I hope Chef can improve his skills. Look into the recipes please. I wish you can improve so that other guests will have a better experience.

Avoid the burgers! We ordered a few different dishes, but our burgers were cooked very unevenly. Specially, we ordered one medium well and it was served raw- not even rare. Two of the three people that had burgers became sick later. They took the raw burger off the bill, but only after they came by once we finished the meal. The pasta dishes and fries are good if you really want to go. Overall, don’t recommend because there are so many better options in the area. Edit after response from restaurant: I would have loved to report the issue earlier in our meal. Unfortunately, no employees were around for us to talk to. As soon as we saw a server, I immediately showed them the burger and said that it was a problem.

Came here with zero expectations, but compared too earlier meals I've had on Mauritius for four days now, this one was a surprise. Good food for a reasonable price for once on this island. Little bit expensive still but compared too others totally worth it. We were four persons eating and everyone left happy and full. Thank you Frenchie Café!

Whoever the chef is, is doing a fantastic job. The grilled vegetables are divine. The fish is sublime as well. If you are vegan or vegetarian you will find the menu very disappointing.

This place serves good food. The waiters are very helpful, patient and kind. You can have a good lunch in a one of a kind setting

I loved the place, I am also an avid fan of burgers. This place serves amazing burgers and pasta(Only food item I've had there so far), Food was really good, the staff members are courteous and very helpful. Made the long drive and experience worth it.

I've had breakfast here twice and loved it. The food tastes great and the cappuccino is just wow. The people are very friendly🥰 I will come back, when I come to Mauritius again

This has always been one of my favourite places to go for a meal in Mauritius. Friendly staff, beer on tap and very decent food. The steaks are normally awesome a d so are the burgers. Pricing is fair so you don't feel that you are getting ripped off like some other restaurants. Alcohol like most restaurants in Mauritius can be expensive so bring your own wine and pay corkage. Buy the large draft beers, best value for money.

Service is slow af. We are waiting 1/2 h for some pancakes and croissant while the place was empty. Don't want to find out how service is if the place is packed. Coffee was good though. Everything else was bad

Nice food and welcome.

We hosted my Son's 6th birthday party in the back garden of Frenchie Cafe. The party was executed perfectly. Not only is their venue a perfect setting, the food is amazing (we had a build-a-burger stand) and the staff are incredible. Everything was handled so professionally, it was an amazing day.

As a vegan I didn't expect much when I looked at the menu. But the one vegetarian option, a vegetable curry, was really excellent. With a few more choices for vegans, which the very friendly manager Christoph reassured us will be available soon, it would be five stars!

The cocktails they serve are excellent. The food was of a high quality. Very pleasant experience.

A nice place with good atmosphere and very pleasant staff. We had evening drinks there and my only complaint was that the assortment of hot ‘snacks’ they served us felt and tasted like they were bought frozen and cooked in the oven. Nothing wrong with that of course but they weren’t cheap.

Delicious, tasty, juicy rotisserie roast chicken with thyme roasted potatoes as a takeaway for Saturday lunch. Well wrapped and packed and still warm when we arrived home. Great value at Rs600. Only a 4* as the potatoes weren't crunchy at all.

Food served in dessert plates, very hard to eat without making a mess Fries came almost raw (15min after being served food as if they had forgotten) food took 45min to arrive!
