La Folie Lodge is a true gem nestled in a peaceful and serene setting along the Mekong River. My stay at the huge villa was nothing short of amazing - the accommodation was spacious and well-appointed, with all the amenities you could possibly need for a comfortable and luxurious stay. The director and manager Sam were super attentive and allowed us to upgrade to the villa. One of the highlights of my stay was the fresh and delicious lunch and dinner options available on-site. The chefs at La Folie Lodge clearly take great pride in their work, as every meal I had was bursting with flavor and made with the freshest ingredients and incredible presentation. But perhaps my favorite part of my stay at La Folie Lodge was the incredible made-to-order Tamarind margaritas served up at the bar. These drinks were simply divine - the perfect complement to a relaxing evening spent watching the sunset over the Mekong River. Of course, no stay at La Folie Lodge would be complete without experiencing one of their amazing 90-minute Lao-Thai massages. Pam/Joy, the masseuses, were incredibly skilled and knowledgeable, and her massage left me feeling refreshed, rejuvenated, and ready to take on the world. In addition to these amazing amenities, La Folie Lodge also offers a wide range of tours and services, from airport pickups to bike rentals for exploring the surrounding area. To get to the hotel you will call the hotel to get their boat to meet you on the Champasak side and it will take like 10 minutes plus a short tractor drive to the doors of the hotel. The grounds are immaculately kept, and the staff at every level are incredibly friendly, helpful, and accommodating.

As a Western expat living in Laos, this has been the best hotel stay my family has ever had in Laos! Staff - Genuinely Friendly, helpful, kind, and great English! Mr. Alome and Ms. Bee were just amazing! Food - As good or better than any restaurant I've been to in Southern Laos! Room - Beautiful. Very comfortable bed. Best pillows ever. Good Aircon. Good Shower. Everything was thought through and executed very well! Location and Amenities - Stunning views! Nice pool. Free bikes to use and very friendly locals on the island. New Favorite. We will definitely be back!

Amazing location. Great service, pricey. Food is correct. Fantastic place to explore Champassak area (including Wat Phu temple, ie the Temple in the Mountain). The light is great at the end of the day, making the chill around the swimming pool or in a chair reading very enjoyable. The architecture of the lodge is worth a look for some of the special buildings. Last but not least, the staff is helpful, competent and speaks very well English or French.

A five star experience from beginning to end, a very special place. Somehow, visiting during rainy season, we were their only guests - and we had the most exceptional experience. The island is beautiful, and the hotel has been set up a bit like a social enterprise to encourage investment in the local people. They grow all lots of their own vegetables, including their own rice in their beautiful on site rice paddy! Staff couldn't be more helpful. Highlights were a sunset river trip on the Mekong complete with snacks and wine, swimming in the pool with beautiful views, breakfast on our terrace, and a bike ride around the traffic free island. They also arranged all of our transfers including a trip to Wat Phou on our way down from Pakse - do not miss it! Thanks again to the lovely team, what a special start to our honeymoon!

La Folie Lodge is a 4-star boutique hotel on Don Daeng Island. It has 26 rooms with private balconies overlooking the Mekong River. The location is stunning. You are collected in a boat and driven up the beach to the lodge. Rooms clean and tidy, outstanding staff. Choice of different rooms and if there are two colours consider starting in The Residence! It has two bedrooms, two bathrooms and a large living area approximately 160 square meters, as well as a 50 square meter terrace. You'll love the decor. A great choice for travelers who want to experience a peaceful and authentic stay in Southern Laos.

A beautiful serene place with very attentive staff. All very clean and comfortable. The pool is surrounded by loungers and a couple of tables overlooking the river. It has been a pleasure spending the day with you, Thanks again to all the staff for your kindness. Food was very well presented and we particularly liked the fish cooked in bamboo.

La Folie Lodge is a good place to stay on a trip to Champasak. It's located on a small island and you need to know where the boat will pick you up. The Loge has a wonderful ecotourism concept and engages with the local people. We enjoyed staying here for 2 nights and take the bikes provided by the hotel to explore the island. Overall, the stuff could be a little bit more responsive, however we understand it's a learning process in this environment.

La Folie Lodge is a very special place. On a quiet peaceful island, the setting is beautiful where you can watch water buffaloes on the beach, roosters crowing, cows grazing, and the village life. Our family of 4 with 2 children loved our stay here. From the boat ride to the lodge, riding bikes through the village and meeting the locals, the great restaurant where the staff was very accommodating to our food requests for our children, we loved all of it. We did a half day trip to the waterfalls which were beautiful and also a cooking class at Mr. Mee’s (please note the google map location for the restaurant is wrong - you need to go a bit past the pin and then turn right at the next road and you will see it). To end our experience we had a fantastic dinner on the beach - the lodge prepared a special type of hot pot for us which was delicious and memorable. Everyone who worked there was helpful and kind. We would love to return here again and would recommend it to anyone.

I only joined my friends for breakfast, but the Lodge treated me as if I were a guest there. It is absolutely, hands down, the most pleasant experience you can give a client in this industry. The staff was extremely nice and helpful. I will stay here next time I am in the area.

Beautiful and serene place. Well behaved staff. Unfortunately we couldn't enjoy their food since we walked in unannounced. So may be, pre booking would be good idea.

A jewel in the crown of this beautiful area. Nearly perfect and exceeding all expectations. We’ll definitely come back and bring many friends again and again. My gripes are minor. Wifi not ideal in all bungalows. Definitely never catch the tour boat around the whole island (it’s more of the same and takes forever)

Only a one night stop but well worth the trip down from Pakse. Ambiance very quite as normal in these Covid times. Service and food were excellent. Pool absolutely sparkling and a good size. Planning a longer stay sometime soon.

Located in a small island without cars is a plus for visitors with a purpose of taking a break. The reception was good, and the facility is fine. There are several negatives. The bungalows have front porch light that turns on when people gets close enough, so the number is invisible at night from the walk way, all of them look the same. The one I stayed didn't work properly, I had to use my phone light to key in the room. The food is the worse turndown of all, way over-price for the quality received. Local buffalo steak (a small portion) for $20 was too chewy, no choices for source, no question was asked about how cook the diner wants, and it came with just french fries. Salad for $11 had only lettuce, tomatoes, eggs, and tuna meat. Waiting time was also long, while the restaurant was only about half full. Silver wear was also a mix of fine quality and very cheap ones (I've got a fine spoon but the fork was very thin--the cheap type used in cheap local restaurants--and a butter knife for cutting steak). Would not go back again because of the terrible food experience.
