Zakir Hussain Rose Garden in Chandigarh is believed to be the largest rose garden in Asia. In addition to roses, the promotional literature says there are over 1000 varieties there, there are also several medicinal herbs, plants and trees. The roses are laid out in aesthetically designed flowerbeds, surrounded by beautifully landscaped areas interspersed with trees and flowering shrubs. I couldn't see the garden in full bloom as I visited towards the end of March in 2015, after the Rose Festival was over, and many of the flowerbeds were being relaid for the next season. There are some fountains towards one of the entrances, and a large wind chime.

It is our misfortune that the Rose garden had only a garden, no roses. The season I heard was May and June. We had nothing but disappointment and we maximized it by taking some photos and our friends enjoyed taking a couple photoshoot. It was overall a good fun evening.

Beautiful ambience, a huge variety of roses of all shades. Greenery all around. Very well maintained and neat and clean. Very calm and serene. A good place to relax and stroll around. Water fountains add to the beauty and one feels refreshing and rejuvenated.

It's the number one rose garden in Chandigarh. There are many types of roses here. You can see red, yellow and many colours of roses. You can also feel the fragrance of roses. It is a good place for a walk, running and yoga as well as you can spend the best time with your family. It's a very calm place. you can feel fresh air. Open air gym is also there where you can enjoy doing exercises in the lap of nature. There are many types of swings for the children to play here. It's good and well mentioned. 🌹 🌺

Such one of the best and beautiful place in sector 16, Chandigarh. It's bunch of gardens where you can see different different species of rose flower. For exploring the rose garden is February month where Chandigarh committee will held big fair for 6 days(last week of Feb). People come across the Chandigarh and outside the Chandigarh. Full police security during rose festival to stop incident and traffic. You can see the Roses but not pluck, because of Rs.500/- fine.

A very beautiful and serene place. Well maintained by the tourism board. I had the opportunity to visit during a rainy day which showered the garden with a whole new charm and tranquility. I suggest visiting in the early mornings and explore the area. Chandigarh's very special garden with its unique and boundless array of roses, well taken care of. A small stream of water flows right through the middle of the garden and can be crosses over on a mini bridge. A good place for people of all age groups. A must visit when in Chandigarh.

What an absolutely wonderful experience. This place is in Sector 16 of Chandigarh, and has LOTS of different varieties and species of Roses. While I visited in the off season, there were still a whole lot of flowers there. The place is full of squirrels and butterflies too. Just walking here is a peaceful experience.

What a beautiful place is this! 😍😍😍😍 I actually experienced this place is monsoon and it was my first experience over here but after visiting this place now I'm really really looking forward to visit this place again in winter as so many roses will grow at rapid pace and atmosphere will be more interesting at that time. I haven't seen so many types of shade of different different roses till now and it's just a pure pure beauty to witness and i must admit that what a wonderful landscaping has been done. It's just damn good. The place itself will give you so much soothing vibe. ❤️❤️❤️❤️

Zakir Hussain Rose Garden is very nice and special place to visit in Chandigarh. The garden is very well maintained and you will be amazed to see the different varieties and colours of roses. This is the largest Rose Garden in Asia and is spread over an area of 40 acres and has more than 32,500 plants representing around 825 varieties of roses. This is nice place if you want to spend some time in peace. However the flowering season is mostly in summers so in winters the flowering is scarce. Kids also have a play area inside the garden so they can equally enjoy. Rose festival here is very popular. Must visit this place.

A vast open space set in the heart of Chandigarh. These gardens have more than eight hundred varieties of roses to view. Entry is free. Highly recommended for people of reduced mobility as there are plenty of paved pathways. There are free and clean toilets within the complex. There’s not a spec or trash anywhere to be found, plenty of discreet dustbins around and people use them. Plenty of benches and sitting areas available at various points across this vast park.

It's preferred to visit this part after 2pm so that you can enjoy the fresh and cold breeze here. Moreover there's a photo exhibition here and children and adults perform various activities here ranging from skating, cycling and dancing.

Nice garden to sit in the grass. Great for picnic and organizing small get together events in the midst of nature. There are professional photographers for clicking pictures just in Rs 100. Public washrooms are available too. Entry from 3-4 sides. Parking available at different entries. Some of the entries are by walk. Must visit.

Chandigarh's Rose Garden is Asia's biggest botanical garden that has been named after India's former President Mr Zakir Hossain. The garden was set up in 1967 and spread over an area of 30 acres. The garden has collection of 50000 rose bushes with 1600 different spices which makes the place unique one. Every year, the popular rose festival begins on feb.17 and concludes on Feb.19. Though I couldn't see the beauty of full blooming garden but landscaping of garden, trees, plants and fountains speaks the story itself. The Garden is not famous for roses only, but also the plants/ trees of medicinal value. Park is good enough for nature lovers, indeed. There are play area, small bridges with walking/jogging tracks and public washrooms. Lots of opportunities for photography. Free entry. Grt place for picnic with family and friends !!!.

A nice garden, spread over in huge area. This is largest rose garden in asia as per Municipal corporation Chandigarh. Lot of varieties of rose are available in garden and each plants has its botanical name. No entry fees require there. Fountain working in evening time only. I've not seen black rose there. I appreciate the staff to maintain such a huge garden. Best time to visit the garden in Feb-Mar only. Love this place.

It is like a colorful and flowery wonderland. It's huge, with lots of different types of roses from all over the world. When you visit, you can walk around on nice paths and smell the lovely rose scents. There's even a festival sometimes with music and shows. It is a peaceful retreat where you can relax and forget about the city's busy life. It's well-kept, with pretty lawns, swings, fountains, and sculptures. If you love flowers and want a quiet place to chill, Zakir Hussain Rose Garden is the perfect spot in Chandigarh.

It's a huge garden with variety of roses. It's well maintained. You can take your baby's stroller/pram too. It's a great place for an outdoor picnic with the family, children will love to play on the swings and slides there. You can play frisbee, badminton and catch the ball. Lot of trees are there too. You can click amazing pictures. There are vendors who sell popcorn, bhel, ice cream etc outside the park, few vendors are there inside the park as well. There are people who will click your photographs and hand you the soft copy or hard copy, if you want to get your professional photos clicked. The roses are beautiful, colourful and big! A must visit place if you're in Chandigarh. Make sure to have atleast 1.5-2 hours with you if you want to see the park nicely.

A botanical garden in Chandigarh with about 1600 species of roses. Beautiful and spacious garden to come with your friends, family. Can bring kids along to play with them. Easily you can find the place and everyone is familiar. I came here in the evening and it was amazing. Winters to spring season probably best time. But you can come here any time, you will love the greenery and colorful flowers, fountains. People also come for morning/evening walks, exercise. Benches are there to sit or you can sit in the lawn. Dustbins installed to keep the place clean. Also if you are lucky, you may find a camel outside for a ride (of course chargeable) ;)

It's a beautiful garden and a must visit for tourists. It's a large garden with well maintained rose plantation and trees. There is a pathway all around the garden which attracts lots of people for morning walk. The washrooms are clean. There is a large parking space. The place doesn't follow any specific timing. It's an open space which can be visited any time during the day. In order to avoid crowd, good time will be to visit early in the morning. Review based on visit in October 2021

The entry to the park is free, But you have to pay Car parking fees which was Rs 14, if you park your car in the designated parking. The area of the park is huge and it has hundreds of varieties of Roses and other trees. There are many entries and exits to the park. Best months to see the blooming roses are February, March n April.. Children friendly environment If you visit in morning. Noon is for couples.. there are some small food and juice stalls outside garden ( near car parking). There is a fine of Rs 500 on plucking flowers..Don't litter and use dustbins.

What a beautiful place! We reached this place through sector 17 underpass, where paintings and skating classes were conducted. There was a karaoke event too! The garden itself is so spacious and green, it felt like a scene out of a postcard. There is a children’s play area too. The area is very neatly maintained. This was my first visit to Chandigarh and I can now see why it is called a well planned city!

Loved this garden from the time I was in Chandigarh during college days. Recently visited twice with family & friends. Seems like no change in these very years. Varieties of roses have increased though. My wife has knowledge about them so her first reaction was wow... Also visited during rose festival to cherish the old memories. A well maintained & managed garden. Must visit on the way to the lake or rock garden.

Great Rose Garden there are hundreds of varieties each in separate pits and every pit had ample blooms. The Garden is very well maintained with manicured lawns and we were delightfully surprised to find no littering, plucking of flowers etc even in the absence of any guards, caretakers or CCTV cameras, hats off to the people of Chandigarh. The Garden is very big and one needs 2-3 hours to enjoy it at a decent pace. I desperately missed a DSLR camera which is needed to capture all the beauty and I have regrets till date but I will definitely carry one the next time. A few suggestions to make this already great place even better : I couldn't spot a washroom nearby. A good Cafeteria nearby would be great. A Nursery with the Rose Plants would be great for all Rose lovers, more so because it is near impossible to find such a variety of good Roses at one place, I think people would be spoilt for choice, plus it would be a good source of funds. I miss not going to the Bougainville Garden now, though we had gone to see it but we returned seeing very sparse crowd and due to paucity of time but I will definitely visit the next time. Once again hats off and thank you to the people of Chandigarh and the park staff.🌹👏👍

I visited the rose garden in Chandigarh with my family last week. It is supposed to be the largest rose garden in Asia, but I was disappointed by the lack of roses. There were very few roses and they were not very colorful or fragrant. The garden looked more like a regular park with swings and slides for kids and a fountain for decoration. The only positive thing was that my son enjoyed playing on the slides and swings for an hour. I think the rose garden needs more attention and improvement to live up to its name and reputation.

They're is nothing special. It's just like a normal garden. In evening you can see fountain but I don't think one should waste time just to see water fountain. This is really not worth wasting time there. If you're unmarried and want to time pass with your gf then it's fine. Nothing for married couple specially when you've children. Better go to nearby park in your society or sectors if you're in Chandigarh. Or you can play in street with your children and believe me that would be more valuable time for you.

But for a nature and peace lover it will always be as soothing as heaven in all the season. Loved to visit such a peaceful place.

Zakir Hussain Rose Garden, is a botanical garden in Chandigarh, India and spread over 30 acres (120,000 m2) of land, with 50,000 rose-bushes of 1600 different species. Named after India's former president, Zakir Hussain and created in 1967 under the guidance of Dr Dr M.S. Randhawa, Chandigarh's first chief commissioner, the garden has the distinction of being Asia's largest. The garden has not only roses, but also trees of medicinal value. Some of the medicinal plants that can be spotted here are bel, bahera, harar, camphor and yellow gulmohar. The rose plants have been planted in carved-out lawns and flower beds.

It's huge and sprawling! Lot of space to stroll away an evening. But there weren't enough roses. Those that were there, weren't attractive enough. Maybe it wasn't the right season, but I would expect to see more colors in a rose garden.

  • 4/5 Mrinal G. 3 years ago on Google
Amazing place, full of Rose's of different colours. There is no entry fee.Parking is available outside the garden. There is minimal parking fee. Very clean, very big. Takes lot of time to explore fully. It was sunny although its November and we could feel the heat Wearing Cap is advisable.

Rose garden is a very beautiful and popular place in Chandigarh sector-16 covering a large area. Here You will find all types of Rose flowers. The rose garden is maintained very well. I visited here with my family. We felt great here. We experienced a kind of inner peace also. Sitting arrangements are very good. There is playground for kids and sliding, sea -saw, swing etc games available. You can plan your picnic here but carry your food. You can get juice, wafers and ice cream only. Parking for cars is also available.

The Zakir Rose Garden in Chandigarh is a must visit place for visitors to the city as well as the local residents. It’s among the best maintained gardens of this beautiful city. The place is rich with the lovely colour splash of the blooming roses, especially at this time of the year. There are also abundant trees of various varieties including eucalyptus, bael, silver oak, golden trumpet and several medicinal trees dotting the place. I have reviewed this garden earlier too, but writing it again as visited it after long gap due to pandemic. Please use masks when you go for a walk here. The new feature added is the underpass to the Sector 17. This makes the whole place so lively with music playing and paintings and photographs often on display for sale. Deducted one star, because the watering holes are left open in the grass and can cause people to trip when it gets dark.

Located in sector 16 of Chandigarh, Rose Garden is a blooming exhibit that showcases around 825 varieties of flowers and 32,500 varieties of trees and medicinal shrubs. Also known as Zakir Hussain Rose Garden after the former president of India, this garden is spread over 30 acres and is decked up with an exquisite variety of flowers making it quite popular among tourists and nature enthusiasts. The best time to visit the Rose Graden, Chandigarh is between the months of February and March as the flowers are in full bloom during this season. The Rose Festival also takes place during these months, making it a good time to visit. It is the largest garden of its kind in Asia and was built in the year 1967 under the guidance of the First Chief Commissioner, MS Randhawa. The trees and medicinal plants are, in fact, the garden's most noteworthy features. Neatly planted in a systematic way by expert gardeners, it serves as a perfect place to peacefully stroll about and relax. The Rose Garden is a sight to behold when the flowers are in their full bloom in the months of February and March. The beauty of this garden is only enhanced by the presence of the misty mountains in the background and a gorgeous fountain that is aglow with colorful lights in the evening. With its relaxing environment and verdant beauty, Rose Garden is one of the most popular tourist attractions in the city of Chandigarh.

Magnificent. Peaceful. Beautiful. Rose garden is a well known heritage of Chandigarh and a common tourist spot. Based on the time of the year you visit you will be able to see roses of various shapes, sizes and yes colors. The park is well maintained, commendable job by the care takers. It is clean and well connected to the city mainstream yet away from chaos. Do not expect anything majestic, it's beauty lies in the fact it is built like a normal park for everyone accompanied by roses and their fragrances.

  • 5/5 Aditi T. 3 years ago on Google
Visited in late February. Most of the roses are in full bloom at this time of the year. Like always, the park is well maintained, and people follow social distancing. The area surrounding the new underpass is beautifully developed - with an art gallery, karaoke corner and green spaces. Jogging tracks are a great addition.

This is a beautiful place in Chandigarh. It is the 49 th rose festival held this year 2021 and dedicated to Corona warriors. I loved the place and every year the people here celebrate this festival with great joy and enjoy a lot.

Had gone there for the Rose festival in Feb 2021. It was barren with hardly any flowers. The garden of course is nice, spacious with concrete waking paths which makes for a good sight and a walk - but there were so few roses. Not sure if this is the norm or we just went at a bad time but really expected more from this place.

This Garden is named after India’s former President Dr. Zakir Hussain. It is located at sector 16, which is a part of the centre of Chandigarh. This is a huge garden and particularly famous for it’s almost 1600 Rose species. This garden also serves as a venue of the annual Rose Festival in Chandigarh near February or March. Along with roses, it also have many trees which holds medicinal values also. The garden is full of greenery as well as fresh air. There’s also some fountains in the garden. The parking area is a bit small and it’s also not free. At the entrance, you will also find a small snack shop, but they have very limited options available. There are multiple washrooms around the garden and the tracks are also well maintained. If you are in Chandigarh, I would definitely recommend you to visit this garden.

Good to spend an hour or two. Lots for greenery. Rose bushes are named properly. But most of the flowers were burnt due to summer heat. Fountain was not working. Not sure but may be, all this is because of summer time. Overall it doesn't seem well maintained. Most of the park is crowded with couples. It has play area for children but not in very good condition. It has camel rides n snacks thelas at the gate.

"Rose Garden" as the name suggests it must have loads of different types of Roses. It has tons of different types of Roses with well maintained grass and trees. Whole Garden is so beautiful and iconic it feels great each time I visit there. Garden has a fountain and running and walking path around it. Nearby people visit on daily basis in morning and evening to run, exercise and recharge there minds with greenery. Garden has 4 entries and 2 of them has parking. It also has 4 washrooms in different corners of the park. It has a ice cream parlour of Verka near the fountains. Personally I will recommend this park to every tourist who is visiting Chandigarh and the people who live nearby.

The Chandigarh Rose Garden is a mesmerizing and enchanting haven for nature lovers and flower enthusiasts alike. Spanning over 30 acres, this sprawling garden is located in Sector 16 of Chandigarh, India, and is one of the most iconic attractions in the city. As I strolled through its beautiful pathways and surrounded myself with the kaleidoscope of colors, I couldn't help but be captivated by its beauty and serenity. History: The history of the Chandigarh Rose Garden dates back to 1967 when it was conceptualized and created under the guidance of Dr. M.S. Randhawa, the first Chief Commissioner of Chandigarh. The garden was commissioned to commemorate India's independence and was inaugurated in 1967 by the first Prime Minister of India, Pt. Jawaharlal Nehru. Its creation was part of Chandigarh's master plan, designed by the renowned French architect, Le Corbusier. The garden was initially named the "Mughal Garden" but was later renamed as the "Zakir Hussain Rose Garden" in honor of India's former President, Dr. Zakir Hussain. The garden was further expanded and developed, and today, it stands as one of the largest rose gardens in Asia, boasting over 50,000 rose bushes of around 1,600 different varieties. Floral Extravaganza: Stepping into the Chandigarh Rose Garden is like entering a floral wonderland. As the seasons change, the garden transforms with it, showcasing a breathtaking display of roses in various hues and forms. From classic reds and pinks to vibrant yellows, whites, and rare black roses, the garden offers a rich diversity of colors that evoke a sense of awe and delight. The best time to visit the garden is during spring (February to March) and autumn (October to November) when the roses are in full bloom, enveloping the air with their sweet fragrance. The meticulously landscaped pathways lead visitors on a picturesque journey through the garden, allowing for a leisurely and peaceful experience. Tranquility and Recreation: Apart from being a visual treat, the Chandigarh Rose Garden also offers a serene ambiance, making it an ideal spot for relaxation and recreation. Many visitors can be seen sitting on the well-maintained lawns, enjoying picnics with family and friends, or simply finding solace amidst the natural beauty. The garden also serves as a popular spot for morning and evening walks, drawing both locals and tourists seeking a tranquil escape from the hustle and bustle of city life. Cultural Events: The garden serves as a venue for various cultural events, including the annual Rose Festival, which is held in February. During this festival, the garden comes alive with vibrant celebrations, musical performances, and competitions, attracting visitors from all over the country. In conclusion, the Chandigarh Rose Garden is a delightful oasis that showcases the artistry of nature and the legacy of a well-planned city. Whether you are a nature enthusiast, a photography lover, or simply seeking a peaceful retreat, a visit to this magnificent garden is an experience that will leave an everlasting impression on your heart and soul.

A Blossoming Paradise: Zakir Hussain Rose Garden Located in the heart of Chandigarh, the Zakir Hussain Rose Garden is a mesmerizing haven that celebrates the beauty and splendor of roses. Spanning over huge area, this delightful garden is a paradise for nature lovers and an exquisite treat for the senses. As you enter the garden, you are greeted by a vibrant display of colors, with over 50,000 rose bushes in a breathtaking array of hues. From delicate pastels to vibrant reds, the variety and sheer number of roses will leave you in awe. The garden is thoughtfully landscaped, providing a serene atmosphere to wander and admire the blossoms in all their glory. One of the highlights of the Zakir Hussain Rose Garden is the annual Rose Festival, a celebration of this magnificent flower. The festival is a vibrant extravaganza, featuring cultural performances, competitions, and exhibitions. It attracts visitors from near and far, adding an extra layer of excitement and energy to an already captivating garden. Beyond the roses, the garden offers ample space for leisurely walks and picnics. The well-manicured lawns are perfect for spreading a blanket and enjoying a peaceful afternoon amidst nature's beauty. It's an ideal spot for families, friends, and couples to relax and rejuvenate. The garden is meticulously maintained, and the staff takes great pride in its upkeep. Clean pathways, well-maintained flower beds, and informative signboards enhance the overall experience. The fragrance of the roses permeates the air, creating a delightful sensory experience that will linger in your memory. One aspect that could be improved upon is the availability of seating areas. While there are a few benches scattered throughout the garden, more seating options would be beneficial for visitors who prefer to sit and admire the surroundings for an extended period. Overall, the Zakir Hussain Rose Garden is a true gem in Chandigarh's crown. Whether you are a nature enthusiast, a photography aficionado, or simply seeking a tranquil escape, this garden will leave an indelible mark on your soul. It is a testament to the beauty of nature and a testament to the love and care of those who tend to its flourishing blooms. A visit to this garden is an experience that should not be missed when exploring Chandigarh.

Zakir Hussain Rose Garden is very nice and special place to visit in Chandigarh. The garden is very well maintained and you will be amazed to see the different varieties and color's of roses.
