A hidden gem (4.5 stars) • Food: we tried the Cretan salad and the lamb and pork meatballs. Both excellent. • Service: very attentive. • Location: great for sunset near the sea. We had a very good time but it’s not 5 stars as value for money could be better (750ml sparkling water for €5 seemed excessive compared to other places in the city).

We found this place on our last evening in Crete. Easily the best food we had in our entire stay. Lovely setting across the beach. Very attentive and friendly service and the food was just exceptional. The octopus was melting in the mouth and the shrimps were so fresh. We loved every bite of every dish. Better make a reservation if you plan to come for dinner.

Perfect spot facing Nea Chora Beach, The Five really lives up to their belief in the 5 elements of taste (sweet, salty, bitter, sour and umami) with their inventive menu. We loved this place so much! Everything we ordered was exceptional and beautifully presented. The team there is warm, attentive and so friendly. Started out watching the sunset over the beach with a Cretan rosé, followed by the Sardines, the incredible Fava spread, the beautiful vegetable carpaccio and the beet falafel. Couldnt think of a better way to celebrate a stay here in Chania. The Five deserves all 5 stars!

Words can’t describes our 3 experiences we had here!! The creativity and teamwork that the staff put in to the menu… can’t be matched anywhere in Crete. The options are endless, I’m a vegetarian (pescatarian partially) and I’ve had every vegetarian option they offered, and they all were my favorite! The mushroom risotto slightly edged out the vegetarian carpaccio for the top spots! Thank you so much for the amazing experienceS!! Ps… the sunsets are to die for, so please, make a reservation around sunset. You won’t be disappointed.

Wonderful creative food with fantastic service. Great spot for a little something different than the typical taverna menu. Right on the waterfront just west of the Chania old center, only a few minute walk, with a great sunset view. We would come back here to try more of the dishes. The Octopus was a stand out.

Try this place if you want great service and amazing food, in a beautiful well designed restaurant. Big shout out to the amazing hostess! :) thank you for the amazing table you reserved us, and for the kind and attentive service and the sunset photos. The food was tasty, fresh and well made. Make a reservation in advance though… ;)

Very nice restaurant by the beach with a lovely sea view and cozy calming interior. The concept is to combine the food with your party though the portions are a bit bigger than with your regular tapas. The food was really good. We had the sea bream, fisherman’s pasta and the meatballs - all really tasty. And the service was really good.

The food was truly delicious and high quality at this cool and stunning location with a beautiful vista of the ocean directly in front of this fabulous restaurant. Ate here twice (lunch & dinner). Amazing location for watching the sunset before dinner. The ambiance, service and food were truly awesome.. Highly recommended 🐟 🍸☀️👏

Everything we ate was amazing. The service was brilliant, the lady who served us was so enthusiastic and knowledgeable about the menu. Definitely the highlight meal of our holiday. The views over the beach watching the sunset were really beautiful. We are 100% going to return before we leave!

We get a bit nervous when going to new restaurants. We thought The Five might be a bit pretentious. Not at all. Absolutely lovely experience. The food was everything that was promised. The service was a excellent. We look forward to returning and trying more of the menu.

The reviews weren’t wrong - this place is definitely top of the list of restaurants in the area and for good reason. The food is fresh, not too heavy and most importantly - absolutely delicious! They keep to their mission of “serving delicious, affordable food that guests will want to return to week after week”. Will definitely be back one day 😊

We visited as a couple, one vegetarian and one meat eating/fish loving pair. We shared the mushroom starter which if you had said mushroom and strawberries, I would have been doubtful but it was possibly the best vegetarian starter I have ever had. For main, I had the beetroot carpaccio which was delicious, light but flavourful. My partner had the sea bream which he thoroughly enjoyed. Not having to deal with the bones was a rare treat. We finished the meal with the “Not Ferrero” dessert. We don’t normally order dessert but this looked so good and based on the standard of food, we knew it would be good. The restaurant is slightly outside the old town but we had the best meal of our 2 weeks in Crete so would highly recommend.

I‘ve been here two times already and I will come back for sure! The potatoes are a dream (honestly, they are sooo good!!) and the truffle mayo too. The Mushroom Risotto with parmesan is heavenly!! The dishes are made for sharing and for the quality, the prices are really good! A beautiful view by the sea is included and the staff is very kind and attentive. Also the owner takes time to welcome you and explain you the concept. Highly recommend!

Nice dishes, I went here for dinner with my spouse. Unfortunately it was raining so we were seated inside but you could still see the beautiful view. We did make a reservation the day before which I definitely recommend as this is quite the popular restaurant. Staff was very friendly and also had nice humor, ordering was smooth and dishes didn’t take very long being served. Only complaint we had was the toilets location, it’s close to the tables in the back (where we were seated) it’s not weird as the restaurant isn’t very big, but every time someone went to the toilet they didn’t close the door going to the toilets which leaves a bit of a smell and unpleasant view while eating. Overal tho still a very nice experience.

Family had dinner here on one of our last nights in Chania. Situated on the street just before the water. We sat outside, staff were excellent, waited attentive. Food was excellent overall, we had many small plates. The only plate that was odd was the Fisherman’s Pasta. It was very sour but when you mixed the ingredients together it would lighten up. I think we probably ate it wrong and it should have been mixed together first. Nevertheless, drinks were great, ceviche and octopus fresh. Despite the pasta, certainly would come here and recommend and will most defiantly return.

We went because of good reviews and they did not let us down. Such a great experience from start to finish, amazing fresh flavours, nice people, perfect views. Do not miss it while in Chania! Thanks so much!

Excellent quality food - fab menu. Lovely location. Staff very friendly and helpful. The chicken salad with Asian dressing was to die for, as were the prawns. The complimentary raki was served with an amazing dessert which was a biscuit apparently made of white chocolate, Oreos, pretzel and rice Crispies which doesn’t sound that exciting but it was truly scrumptious!

I highly recommend this restaurant. It is one of the best restaurants in Chania, Crete and one of the best restaurants I have eaten at in my lifetime. Out of the 5 days I was in Chania, I visited here 3 days for dinner. Reservations are highly recommended, especially if you want to eat and view the sunset. I tried a good chunk of the items on the menu, and everything I tried was delicious. However, I believe you cannot go wrong with anything you choose. Kleopatra and Nikos did a wonderful job melding traditional greek flavors with the items on their menu. My husband & I's favorite item on the menu was the fried potatoes which came with vegan truffle mayo - SO delicious! The short rib was falling off the bone and perfectly cooked. The sardine toast was delicious and not fishy at all. Their cocktails are also delicious. I felt the prices for the food are reasonable and I enjoyed having a "tapas" style and being able to taste multiple items in one sitting. Furthermore, Nikos and Kleopatra are wonderful and the nicest people I have ever met; they truly care about their customers. I am very thankful my Airbnb host in Santorini recommended this restaurant. I cannot wait to be back!

This is honestly one of the best restaurants I have eaten at anywhere in the world. It’s like fine dining flavours but with good size portions. Interesting delicious flavours. We had bread basket, fava beans, beet falafel, vegetable carpaccio, carbonara pasta and coast salad. The cocktails were perfect, served classically. The service was excellent and the atmosphere very relaxed. The sunset was amazing which we were able to see even from inside at the very back! It’s also located in a slightly more quiet coastal location than the main harbour which was nice. Oh and prices excellent!

Outstanding food and service is very good and very informative. Portions are great size, and flavour is well matched. Some lively Rose wines and cocktails to go along with all the food. Keep up the great work.

Greek food but updated to a modern sharing menu. Pleasant, efficient staff explain the dining concept as they hand you your menu.....Expect fresh, local ingredients, expertly prepared and presented beautifully. The balance of flavours is amazing and that's just what 5 is all about....ask the staff what why it's called 5!

We had a wonderful dinner in a great ambiance. Kleopatra, who owns the place, helped us choose the dishes and we truly enjoyed every bite and sip of our starters, main dishes and drinks. Absolutely satisfied and happy. Would recommend it to everybody.

Even though they were packed with reservations they got us in. We showed up at 5:45 and they gave us a table that was reserved for 8:00pm and warned us we’d have to be done by then (no problem for us!) The food was very aesthetic and yummy and service was friendly. The view was awesome as the outdoor tables are right across the street from the beach. It is recommended shared family style, and ordered smallest descending to largest portions on their menu. They recommend reservations, particularly busy around sunset.

Amazing food, very polite stuff and a fantastic sea view. The restaurant offers a modern touch to traditional Cretan dishes and the result is great. It’s better to reserve a table, as it’s normally fully booked in the evenings. A must visit when you are at Chania.

Every dish we ordered was exceptional - excellent produce and very special. The Cretan salad and shrimps were very good. Waiter was very nice and fun to talk to.

Great views and service. The staff accommodated for food allergies and service was fast. But we were underwhelmed by the octopus; we expected the grilled octopus to come as a whole piece but they changed the menu and the grilled octopus is now cut into small pieces that are a bit hard. The Fisherman’s pasta, mushroom risotto, and strawberry dessert were the highlight. Overall, a good experience but room for improvement in the menu.

So good we came back! The Five Restaurant was the very first place we ate at the start of our holiday. Little did we know that it was easter and so the staff were finishing early, despite this they were very accommodating. Each plate we had was outstanding! Some of the dishes we had were the shrimp ravioli and mushroom risotto plus a few more. The views from the restaurant are stunning, be sure to visit when the sun is setting. Finally, the owners came to greet us and gave us some fabulous recommendations of other amazing restaurants in the area. We tried them... This is was the best! Thank you.

Very good pasta. Service was fast & friendly. We had the sea food pasta & cretan carbonara (a really nice reinterpretation of the classical carbonara but using local ingredients). Prices maybe a bit on the higher range but still ok.

If you are looking for great Greek (non-traditional) food and fine dining, this is the place to be. We were welcomed by the owners (and staff) in a very friendly and hospitable way. The restaurant is a trendy place with a modern look and feel and some chill background music. On the menu you will find every type of dish going from bread and spreads to fish, meat and vegitarian dishes to deserts, all in creative Greek cuisine style (as they call it). We tried a couple of dishes in a food-sharing way and every dish was very tasteful and full of flavors. The beet falafels, pulled pork sliders and pavlovlaki (dessert) were so good that we felt sorry when the plates were finished! Must-try dishes! To be honest all plates that left the kitchen looked all very good. We were spoiled in a culinary way and had a great dining experience. We will go back when we're in Crete, for sure! Highly recommended.

This was our first time at The Five Restaurant and I can honestly say it was amazing. The flavors of the food and the ambience of the restaurant made the perfect ending to our first day in Chania. We were able to get a table outside to view the sunset fortunately but I would suggest making a reservation to guarantee your spot outside. Manos our server for the evening was very knowledgeable of the menu items and made wonderful recommendations. We had the Ceviche and the Calamari. Both were made perfectly. We will be back again.

So cool place! Loved the atmosphere and the view to sea. Food was delicious, i ordered grilled shrimp. My portion was kinda small, so if you order that make sure you have some bread etc with it so you don't leave hungry! This place also has very good wines 🤍

We came here three times on our holiday. We loved the place and would recommend this to everyone, especially the mushroom-risotto is a must-try! To anyone who is interested in microbrewery, this is the place.

The best restaurant in Crete. I love the calamari. All dishes have a very interesting flavour twist and don’t taste like 0-8-15 Greece food. The ingredients are very high quality and I like that they combine different flavours together. Highly recommend this restaurant.

You have to try this when visiting Chania. Amazing variety of flavors within each and every dish. The portions were perfect to share for two people: we ordered the Cretan salad, shrimps, pulled pork sliders and crème brûlée for dessert. After that we had a glass of whine each and were full as can be! The food was impeccable!

👍 Location is excellent, near the port, but secluded enough to not be in the main tourist paths, in the shade.
