The reason I chose this place over many others on the way was when I heard wood fire stoves are used to prepare the food. We reached around 1:30 and found they were out of mutton pullav already. However the staples like ragi mudde was available. Our hearts sunk when he said he has to check for the khaima unde but managed to get 3 plates if 4 each before they too ran out. Also ordered portions of chicken fry for the kids, mutton chops, mutton fry, parotta and about 8 ragi mudde between 4 adults with the bill coming to roughly 1000. The flavors were no where near subtle. It was on your face robust with flavors to die for. The mutton was melt in the mouth and hearty pieces. My friend who is from Malavalli said the mudde was made hard exactly how the locals eat and very well made. Evey dish had the hit of the rustic spices (not the garam masala kind of hit) and flavors. The wood fire aroma was also lingering onto the tables. The service was absolutely brilliant with no dish taking time to come to our table. They also allowed me inside their kitchen for a look. The owner claimed Rajinikanth was a cousin of his and came to the place in almost tattered lungi so no one recognises him.

There are not many decent non veg hotels available around Channapattana. We thought of giving a try to this hotel. Place can seat around 25 people at once. Please note that many men come here to drink too. We went with the family and felt a bit awkward at first but everyone minds their own business here. Place is quiet and found it safe to family. There is a special seating area inside a cabin where families can sit. Smoking is not allowed but drinking is allowed. Service is quick and the person serving was quite courteous and helpful. He was empathetic about my broken hand and tried helping me in all the ways he can. You have great mutton and chicken item available here. Don't expect restaurant style food here. The cuisine is more like traditional/rural/home cooked food in these areas. I liked it for a change.

An amazing find if you are in Channapatna. Very good kheema balls, and mutton palav. Cooked on wood fire the taste is very authentic n rustic. No added masalas or color and one can get the real natural taste.

A Flavorful Experience at Ashoka Military Hotel I recently had the pleasure of dining at Ashoka Military Hotel, a non-veg haven that left my taste buds delighted. The menu offered a diverse array of non-vegetarian delights, The star of the show was undoubtedly the mutton biryani, a fragrant and perfectly spiced masterpiece that transported me to culinary bliss. The meat was tender, and the blend of spices was nothing short of exceptional. The ambiance at Ashoka Military Hotel was a blend of traditional charm and old comfort. The staff was courteous, providing prompt service with a genuine enthusiasm for the cuisine they served. Aside from the biryani, the chicken kebabs, Boti Fry and mutton keema stood out as highlights of the meal. Each dish was a testament to the chef's skill in balancing flavors and textures. The portion sizes were generous, ensuring a satisfying dining experience. While the focus was on non-vegetarian fare, Ashoka Military Hotel also offered a variety of side dishes and accompaniments. The culinary journey was complemented by a selection of refreshing beverages, providing the perfect balance to the spicy and savory dishes. In conclusion, Ashoka Military Hotel is a must-visit for those seeking an authentic and indulgent non-vegetarian experience. I left Ashoka Military Hotel with a contented palate and a desire to return for another round of gastronomic delight.
