I sought the best bed and breakfast for my wife’s third “babymoon” and selected the Loft King Suite for 2 nights. And after coming here, I don’t want to tell anyone about this place and keep it to myself. My wife and I were so impressed with 86 Cannon. It’s one thing for a hotel to have a nice space, good food, comfortable sheets, etc—those are physical qualities that can be maintained consistently. (The cheese boards and elevated continental breakfast with local pastries—so tasty!) But it’s another thing entirely to have staff like 86 Cannon does. In our stay we interacted solely with Carly and she was absolutely fantastic. She became a good friend to us in our short time there. Her enthusiasm for the history of the house, her love of Charleston, and her interest in us and our activities was the best part of our stay. As I think another review says this place will ruin other hotel experiences for you!

Cool, clean B&B with a very friendly staff and nice rooms. They have a free happy hour with wine and cheese every day and the rooms are very tastefully decorated. They also have free bicycles to ride. You feel like you are at home. Highly recommend. *****

Simply wonder. Even the reviews don’t do this adorable inn justice. Just book your trip already. Stunning piazzas, the best breakfast and the fluffiest bed. Megan and Karli went out of their way to make us at home. Karli saved the day on our beach outing. We can’t wait to visit again. So peaceful and the perfect getaway.

WARNING: Staying at this location will ruin all of your other hotel experiences :D. Hoteling has changed quite a bit, and service is not at all what it used to be, but 86 Cannon sets the standard, and they have policies that support a great experience that many hotels don't have. The property is outstanding. I spent quite a bit of time soaking in the sun on one of two glorious piazzas. They also have a library on the third floor and great technology where you get text updates. Parking is available on the property. The hotel feels like home and I had to resist the urge to walk about the property in my pajamas and bed slippers. It's quiet, clean, and restorative. The staff was incredible, and I have to give a special shoutout to Megan and Karly for being so kind and attentive to all things all the time. I'm vegan and I had an injury that needed ice and they kindly helped me get situated. The location is nestled in a quieter part of downtown yet within walking distance of shops and restaurants. If you want to experience hotelier excellence, stay here. It's a great reminder of how travel should be.

What a wonderful bed and breakfast in Downtown Charleston, SC!!! The house was lovely, the room was comfortable, walking distance to restaurants, wine and cheese every evening. Very attentive staff. We would love to go back and were not ready to leave!!!

Incredible. Blown away by this hidden gem! Took my wife for 3 nights for our anniversary. If you go to Charleston, you have to stay here. It is worth every penny. Breakfast every morning, cheese board made by hand and wine served every night from 5pm to 6pm. Private parking spot (and affordable compared to others). Away from all of the noise, but easy walking distance to anywhere you want to be. They have bikes available to ride all day. Clean room. Cleaned every day. New towels. New sheets. Everything replenished. This is not really a hotel in my opinion. It's basically like living in a Castle and you are the King! The staff does everything for you and is so accommodating (shout out to Karli!). They text you with updates on checking in, checking out, bike waivers, and can even turn up the air conditioner for you remotely! Sure, you could stay at Emeline or Planter's Inn that is right in the thick of it, but this place is quiet, clean, and totally amazing. They have a library with books, board games, a record player, and a little self-serve bar for more wine if you need it! I could type on this thread all day. Would recommend this to anyone! We stayed in the Piazza King and it was just perfect. Thanks 86 Cannon. We will be back...

Update: we just had our second stay at 86 Cannon and it was even better than the first! This time, we were lucky enough to score the loft suite and it was perfect! Cozy, spacious, beautiful. The staff did a great job accommodating covid regulations and we felt perfectly safe. It’s almost like we have a home away from home here!

A delightful stay (7 nites in the Cottage Suite; two-stories; tucked a bit back from the street - never, ever noisy, or crowded, and with several great dining options footsteps away). We're from Washington DC area (had never been to Charleston) and wanted first and foremost QUIET, comfort & luxury (but not stuffy), service, and convenience to King St and the historic area. We got ALL of the aforementioned. Seriously, I had spent hours on-line researching options and reading reviews. (A close second was Zero George - an amazing option I'm sure -- but we made the better choice for us.). We wanted to relax, do a bunch of walking, and leisurely biking in town (thank you for the free bicycles!), enjoy good food options, and be able to unwind in roomy, light, and airy space, luxurious comfort (yes, top-notch King bed; and two comfortable couches, and chairs; bathrobes; coffee machine with great options) Breakfast: Fresh quiches, etc. from amazing bakery down the street, homemade yogurt and granola, berries, hard-boiled eggs - a favorite of mine, freshly squeezed juices, etc. etc. Wine & cheese hour was fine - glad to have the option (we're not wine & cheese people), but happy to be able to bring back to our room. Plenty of dining options in this part of town. Crazy crowded, though, and hard to find quiet as the spaces are small. Dining on Cannon: Yes to soup at Ladles - low-key comfort food; enjoyed The Grocery, fine-dining, very, very much. Be sure to visit Bad Bunnies coffee, a few short blocks away, for some of the best coffee I've ever had. I'm a decaf drinker so I care about the flavor for realzie.) Thank you for tending to every need and making us feel so welcome. Hats off to the young women who took care of us: Karli, Megan, Madison (new employee - great job!), and to our housekeeper Lu. Sometimes the thermostat did its own thing - or perhaps we were tech-challenged (?!) - sometimes difficult to keep rooms evenly cooled/warmed, so be sure to ask for help as our caretakers could control the temp remotely. (Hey, you'd think we'd been paid off if I didn't find something to mention, right?!). Don't need to post photos, cuz theirs don't lie! With appreciation for amazing service, hospitality, and a truly needed getaway. Emily and Peter
