It was okay. Nice to stop by, but certainly not worth going out of your way for it. The museum is essentially one room with a couple of interesting facts. We are avid museum goers and take our time and even we finished the whole thing in less than 20 minutes. I think the entry was $10 a person. They will hold your bags in the office for you.

Excellent choice for sightseeing. The city's first building, a landmark of Danish architecture. Discover the history, visit the dungeon, learn about the slaves who successfully revolted to take over St John Island for a short time, see actual treasure chests, get reacquainted with magnificent antique Danish furniture. On the roof there are inspiring views of the bay and island.

The ticket booth was closed when I visited but I was still able to get a good view of the fort. A good site to visit if you're in Charlotte Amalie.

They were closed when we visited, but we made the most of it. It’s an incredibly well maintained piece of history and great for a mini photo op. 1671 was a long time ago. Pretty amazing to think how this building was used and the amount of life it has had. If the walls could speak. It begins right before all the shopping streets and there’s also a parking lot of vendors right beside it. They had cute things as well.

This old fort has great unrealized potential. The admission is $10 so I assumed we would receive some kind of brochure or guide to inform our self guided walk. None is handed out. Most of the rooms in the fort are empty and the rooms that do contain the few exhibits are shabby and neglected. Some of the pictures hanging on the walls identify the subject but most are not even labeled. The shackle loops are still attached to the walls but the visitors simply need to imagine what happened there. No history , no stories, no explanation of any of the events that shaped St Thomas. I hope the US Park Service administers this property some day to turn this property into the type of visitor experience it deserves to become. Now it’s just a shell, a former local jail with all the charm of an abandoned jailhouse. So sad.

The fort is definitely worth a visit as a historical site. It would be helpful to visitors to add informational plaques around the site or include an informational brochure when you enter.

It’s open again!!!!! Opened in April 2017, after 12 years of renovation, on the centennial celebration of the transfer of the Danish West Indies to the US, then closed for a few months after the 2017 hurricanes. Definitely go with the guided tour as you will learn so much. I’m all about historical tours and this one won’t disappoint!! The price was only $10 ($5 for locals with ID).

Truly a must see to understand an important aspect of the island's history. It doesn't take a long time to go through. Allow yourself an hour to be thorough. It would be rough for someone handicap

Pleasantly surprised on how well outfitted this Dutch fort was. Unfortunately I had delayed it most of the pictures of the living quarters.

Really recommend visiting this 17th century fort with kids. It's a quick tour with stuff that kids are really interested in such as a dungeon, treasure chests, and cannons with informational plaques along the way teaching about the island's colonial and slave history.

Learned a lot about History. The Fort witnessed many sad and painful stories. The place is kept clean and the curator lady is very pleasant, and helpful. We enjoyed our visit and loved the view from the top. Thank you so much!

We came during the celebration of Carnival and we had a great time. Sadly the fort was not open but we were able to walk a round and read some of the plaques. Awesome history on the island and I definitely recommend just seeing it and being present

This is located on the waterfront. It is right beside the market place and a few steps away from Main St where all the jewelry stores and souvenir stores are. Lots of places to drink and eat. Shop around for your jewelry. They are very competitive so go there with your sights set and your haggle mode on. If your visiting on a Saturday walk down to the market. Lots of local traders with native produce. Also, the best Caribbean Food stand is right there. They serve at least 15 Caribbean favorites as well as a variety of local juices, eg soursop, fresh ginger ale, Sorrell. Walk don't run for their red pea soup

Small 17th century Danish fort. A nice diversion from shopping in historic downtown Saint Thomas.

Even though they are not doing guided tours right now at Fort Christian, it was still a fascinating place to visit. The building has functioned as a military fort, a prison, a church, and a governor’s residence, so there is a good deal of interesting history. The self-guided tour has you begin in the dungeon, where you learn about the history of the prison and also see an exhibit about the Middle Passage and slavery in the Caribbean. Right above that are the governor’s residence and the oldest Lutheran church in the Western hemisphere — a sobering message about the collusion of church and state in slavery.

Great historic fort. Really cool experience. Just be sure to look at the brochure for what the rooms actually are.

Old Fort Christian, beautiful brick structure, built by Governor Jørgen Iversen, and named after Danish King Christian V. The museum exhibits on the history of the Virgin Islands from the Stone Age to the present, displays furniture collection from the Danish period and an art gallery. There is a complementary parking nearby - limited 2 hours.

👍 Historic area with many shops and restaurants. In September some of the shops are closed. Many gem and jewelry stores to choose from. A few locations for history buffs.
