I am not exaggerating when I say we had two of the best meals of our life here. We first stopped here for lunch during our Down East road trip, and we loved it so much that we made a significant detour on the way back for another lunch. Both times my husband had a pot roast that he said was the best he ever had, and I am lobster roll with butter on the side rather than mixed with mayo. Just look at that lobster! And we split blueberry pie with ice cream for dessert. Great, friendly service and a nice view of the Machias River. Definitely come here, even if it's out of your way.

I am absolutely impressed with my server Emily!!! This is the second time I’ve had this waitress when dining out on the deck and I just want to say she is super talented, she has outstanding people skills and also very hardworking, she’s perfectly friendly. I’ve been to multiple establishments throughout the years and the service I get here from this beautiful waitress I had today there aren’t words to describe how happy I am when dining out here at Helen’s, so I rate service here with a Billion stars, 5 is just not enough, food is definitely 100,000 stars and atmosphere, one million stars. I will definitely be going back in the not so distant future, one of my all time favorite places to hang when heading up the coast to Lubec……and can’t wait to go back!!!!

Helen’s Restaurant has the best blueberry pie that I’ve had in my entire life. I don’t make this review lightly. I’m not a big fan of fruit-based desserts. I like chocolate. An acquaintance of mine told me that Helen’s has one of the best blueberry pies in the state of Maine. My husband likes blueberry pie and I tolerate it, so when I went to Machias for work, I stopped for a pie. I brought an entire blueberry pie home, and I was absolutely BLOWN AWAY. I dislike many fruit desserts because of how sweet they are. Helen’s blueberry pie was filled with an insane amount of blueberries and yet was so subtly sweet, that my palate could not only tolerate it but was left craving more. We added a bit of homemade cream to the top to make it absolutely perfect. We’re heading up north for a vacation in a few weeks and we’re both set on stopping at Helen’s to try the variety of pies I spotted at the counter. One blueberry pie isn’t enough - it appeared they have several pies made with freshly picked berries available any time. I can’t wait to try them all 🤤

Nice, open, clean, bright restaurant. Their dessert case in the front looked amazing though we sadly didn't try any. I had the garlic parmesan haddock which was very good. Sadly, they stop serving breakfast at 10:30 which we thought was a little early. We had gotten up early to strike camp and shower without having breakfast so we could stop for breakfast without having dirty camp dishes and pans to have to clean in addition to packing up everything and we got there around 10:40 after driving for about 30 minutes so that was a bummer so we had lunch at 11am!

Absolutely delicious fried belly clams, such tasty and light batter! Fries and slaw were great. Pleasant view out of the window and the lady who served me was super friendly and attentive too! Update! Came a second time and had blueberry pie, wonderful. Can see why Maine people go all in for that sweet sweet little berry.

Helen’s still does not disappoint even after all these years. Outdoor dining was great, and we watched the tide come in as we ate. My father enjoyed his ginormous piece of lemon meringue pie as well.

Daily specials, friendly staff, homemade blueberry, strawberry pies with homemade crust! The halibut chowder was amazing.

driving 6 hours today and staying at the hotel and this is the restaurant next door that you have to use. I hate to leave a bad review but I ordered a regular goat cheese salad with lobster added on it I think they forgot to put the lobster they put two little pieces. It was close to closing time so maybe this cooks were just too lazy to get extra lobster out. Ridiculous amount of money you pay for this and not be satisfied it's just a bowl of lettuce with cucumbers and pecans and goat cheese. The service was good in the bartender Sophie was very nice The food was not good.

The only restaurant we could find in the area that had fresh lobster 🦞. Was early in the season, first week of June. The lobster and fish chowdah 😉 were super. Their slogan "death by pie" man oh man, the pies are incredible

Great crab cake sandwich. Unbelievable steamer clams...huge. pies are world class. Best food in the area. Dog friendly with restrictions.

Oh my goodness! Do not miss a chance to eat at Helen’s! My husband and I were on our way to Jasper Beach and decided to have lunch first. Absolutely amazing food- the lobster roll and blueberry pie in particular and our server Emily was a doll! We can’t recommend this restaurant highly enough. Fair prices, beautiful setting, and the best lobster roll we had during our trip.♥️

During a brief break between appointments, I found myself at Halen's for lunch and what an incredible discovery it was! Upon entering Halen's, its elegant ambiance immediately stands out. The establishment boasts an impeccably clean environment and top-tier service that caters swiftly to guests. Every bite of the Haddock chowder was a journey of rich flavors, truly a standout. Additionally, their assortment of baked goods deserves its own applause. Complementing the culinary experience is a breathtaking view, making each meal even more special. With ample parking, Halen's solidifies itself as a top-tier dining destination.

The food was all good, and it is reliably good! Their onion rings are excellent, the beef is always tender, lots of great options. The fresh strawberry pie!!! Get it, eat it, you'll understand. The decor is so tasteful and gorgeous, it feels like a magazine this winter. We have never had an issue with food or staff. Helen's is just a sweet gem in Washington county
