I can recommend this place to visit. The food was delicious and the cocktails too. Very nice and friendly staff! The place is very atmospheric. The staff kept the tables clean, the guys were doing great with hygiene! We were glad to spend time in this wonderful place! Prosperity to this place!

This is a friendly, no nonsense pub that serves food at very reasonable prices for Central London. The range of beer is fine. IPA was £2.50 on special promotion! It was also Karl Marx’s haunt when he used the British Museum library. The pub has many fine Victorian features. This is the best value, historic pub in Central London, hence the 5* rating.

We loved the friendly atmosphere, the staff was charming and our food was wonderful. We highly recommend this spot for a fun pub experience for travelers. Loved our steak pie , fish and chips. Look for Sam, the bartender, he's fun and great at his job.

Really nice and cozy pub. Old Victorian style decoration and nude festive elements. Sadly they don’t serve my favourite E1 Brew Co IPA but the Beavertown one had to be the alternative.. Also the rhubarb spritz drink is a nice light daytime one. Great selection of foods and pies etc. I had the bound meat burger and they also do a nice vegan pie. All very nice. Worth a visit if you’re in the area.

Quite next to the British Museum, it is an old pubplace. A wide range of beer, ale, ciders and spirits wait for you. We did not eat there, so no info about that. The interior brings you to the good old times, pictures and writings on the wall tell about the history of this place. When the bell rings, it's just 30 minutes more, so "last order". 😎

The Pub had ambience, however the waiter did a terrible job. He had an attitude, apparently he don't like American's unless they order food. If you just order drinks, he definitely has a nasty attitude.

Greene King Pub right in front of the British Museum. It definitely has a "olde" world sense inside. I liked their leather seating couch and the old wood. They were out of some beers when I visited but had a Greene King IPA and a Camden Hells. It was a pricy pub but I think in line for the area. Worth a pint if you're visiting the museum opposite. There were more tourists in here than locals I think.

Not a bad spot to catch a breather if you’re heading to or from The British Museum. Place isn’t large so might not be easy to grab a seat. Went for the Museum Tavern Ale for £5.30 which is a decent price for a pint. Tasted bitter, malty and watery which might be your thing if you’re interested in a thirst quencher on a hot summer’s day.

Place was full on a Tuesday night but the server managed to get us a seat. You need to order from the bar. The food was served promptly and was tasty. Ambience was very nice.

More 3.5 than 3 Staff were super and very friendly. Pie, mash and cabbage wedge was very good, but the gravy not great. Salt and pepper squid was cold so had to be replaced. The place is very dark, you can hardly see the menu. Biggest downside was the cleanliness, it could do with a good clean ( including the bathroom ). Coke was £4.70 a glass!

We enjoyed this bar a lot following our time at the British Museum. The bar was historic & beautiful, staff was very kind and the beer was tasty. 👍🏻 We would definitely come back. Recommended!!

Very nice place. Unusual for me that the place around the corner of a tourist attraction actually has good food and service. But they do. Very nice staff. Good atmosphere. Nice surroundings. And excellent fish and chips. I recommend!

We were planning to visit the British museum on Sunday and decided to try Sunday roast. We chose this restaurant and lost all day. We were very hungry and the food was very late. And they were not polite at all. The food was not the best one. I couldn't finish it ...

The atmosphere here is just what we needed and loved! The staff was great and the food was delicious. We didn't have reservations, but happened to walk in as soon as they opened.

zed is an absolute DELIGHT; he’s friendly, funny and welcoming, as are the rest of the staff. the decor is stunning, and the ambience is warm and cordial. the building is easily accessible (the name is certainly apt) and the location is charming, nestled amongst a vibrant strip of pubs, shops and food places. wonderful experience, i can not recommend museum tavern enough!

A great tavern near the main entrance of the British museum. The chicken and bacon sandwich was great with a small salad for 8£. Nice beers but out of several. Great service but was a bit understaffed.

Good traditional pub. My Canadian friend (please excuse her side of water) had her first pint here, and I was pleased that it reflected a 'proper' pub. Would've been even better of it had been a Burton beer... Neck Oil came a close second.

A very classic British pub with nice beer and delicious fish and chips. Perfect place for food and rest after a long walk in the British Museum.

We had dinner here with friends and it was absolutely lovely. Very helpful, friendly and caring staff. We had a booking, but were able to have our table a bit earlier. The food is delicious, everyone at the table was very happy. They also have a great selection of beers and ale’s. Would wholeheartedly recommend.

Had a fantastic time in the Museum Tavern, the staff were really pleasant and friendly, good selection of ale’s , me and the wife also had a meal which was good “and plenty of it “ . The pub has a really good atmosphere, will definitely go in again next time we’re in London.

Amazing place, I can't believe we found such a nice place, good food, good beers and price right in front of the Museum. Love this share plate, enough for 2, well done guys!

Place for tourists enjoyed by the British… It looks good but just for a drink. Avoid meals & meat (so, so hard…certainly not a 28-day matured sirloin!) mayo & ketchup missing, sunday roasters unavailable. So sad. Only italians positive comments ? Is the owner italian too ? (Peroni beer available in the pub…)
