I used to like this place but they have not changed their menu for a while. I did not enjoy our visit as much last time as they would not let us sitting in the restaurant part and has to sitting next to entrence with a few crying babies around. Not sure we will go back soon. The menu has changed since our visit. The food was nice but the price has gone up too. The service was friendly. It is a shame that we are not allowed to to go into the restaurant area with dogs. There was not much space for having a dog around the seating. We went back to the place again and it seems to be getting worse with the service. It took them one hour to serve me my salad. The salad cost me near £20 and I was still hungry afterwards. We will not be back unless we are desperate. They are bad with gluten free as they asked you to scan QR code that almost everything is not gluten-free. They said that they will check with the kitchen, which they didn't.

Fantastic food, really friendly and efficient service and a really great atmosphere in the pub. Definitely the best pub food I've had in Blackheath so far, every dish was delicious and the menu had a really nice variety and more on trend dishes not just the standard pub classics. Prices were a bit higher than what I've paid for this type of food at other pubs in London, but the quality of cooking is a lot better here as well as better quality ingredients.

Nice little gastro pub on the edge of Blackheath popular with Sunday roasts so booking is advisable. I had the roast beef which was pretty good, potatoes could have been crispier and just 2 slices of beef for £21 felt a bit tight, but the extras were nice and the mulled cabbage was a pleasant surprise. My partner had the half chicken which was still delicious and I think better value. Good range of beer and quick service.

When arrived we was seated to a table that I wasn’t impressed with, right near the door and a wobbly table but asked if their was another table and the guy was more than happy to help us and seated us at another table but only had an hour and 15 min due to another booking. Good service great drinks and food was beautiful, I had the Sunday roast ( pork ) and it was so good. Would definitely return.

Very lovely pub. It’s set to in the edge of the heath between Greenwich and Blackheath. Great for a Saturday or Sunday lunch or drink. Very nice food. It’s a place we will return to. They even have a set lunch menu from Monday to Saturday. Gave 4 stars because it can be quite noisy.

This pub used to be good, but after being there since pandemic hit the service and the food have really decreased in terms of quality. Tonight specially really felt the service was awful and never have I ever felt such awful indirect racism by the staff. For the price I paid which is more than central London and the treatment I got, this place is a disgrace. For 2 people ending up paying nearly £80 is unreal. I live locally and used to go to this pub a lot but I will no longer go there. Princess of Wales is better!

Had a wonderful Sunday roast at the Hare and Billet a few weeks ago. Lovely atmosphere, helped by the large number of dogs (all very well behaved) that are allowed in the pub. Excellent food and the service from Robert, the tall Croatian, was even better. He went out of his way to ensure we had a lovely meal. We are going back today and really looking forward to it.

Great pub, excellent food. The pub is the nicest in the area, with friendly service and excellent food. The atmosphere is cool and the pub also hosts live music on Fridays (or quiz nights during the week). It's large with a lot of space for a sunday roast with friends or a quick beer. We tried the sunday menu and it was really good. The roast was very tasy, good portions and the pork and the vegan option were excellent. The service is nice and friendly. The manager is very friendly and makes sure everything is perfect. She is definitely doing a great job in making this pub a great place to come to relax and enjoy a day out. Really recommended if you are in the area and you are looking for something local and authentic. (Or just good food!)

Lovely atmosphere in this friendly pub. Dogs are welcome in the restaurant, which is fabulous 👌 My Sunday roast was superb and made all the better by the roasted red cabbage. Cauliflower cheese is worth the £6 too.

We went for Sunday lunch and had roast pork. It was really tasty and the service was very fast. The only criticism I have is that the Yorkshire pudding was quite dry. Overall I would go again and I would recommend.

This is robust pub food at its best, good flavours and excellent service. The Sunday roast is delicious and value for money. Although the pub can get noisy it’s a relief not to have to listen to music blaring out in the background. Well worth booking in advance.

Great service from friendly staff. Food was fresh and delicious. Pumpkin salad followed by Cider battered cod and chips. These were on the Festive menu but apparently this will be changing in a week or so. They also do a Sunday roast which we will be going back to try.

The Hare and Billet was a solid Sunday roast, we were really impressed with their choice of sides too. The pigs in blankets, stuffing & cauliflower cheese. We only live across the road so we walked the dog over and chilled out after a few to many on Saturday night. We was dining late in the day, annoyingly the Yorkshire was soft and the potatoes weren’t very crispy but again we think this may be as we dined towards the end of service. The porchetta on the other hand was levels! Even with that, this was a solid roast and I think we’ve found our new Sunday spot , hoping them little bits will be right next time and also the sticky toffee pudding was insane! Really like this place…

Beer was ok but lacks a good hoppy IPA. Atmosphere not quite as good as the Crown down the street. Very dog friendly

Went for Sunday roast / lunch today with friends. The pub was starting to get busy when we arrived so would recommend booking in advance. Food was lovely and the service was good. So the menu had changed and we were not informed so the waiter brought up the alternative (turkey roast instead of chicken) without consulting us which is the only negative. But the order was rectified with a replacement dish to our preference. The sticky toffee pudding was divine. I would recommend coming here.

Amazing Sunday roast with perfectly cooked meat and veg. The staff were all helpful, friendly and attentive even though it was busy. Will definitely go back for Sunday lunch and maybe try their other menus too

Lovely Sunday roast here last weekend. Extremely busy pub, but luckily a manageress who has complete control over the situation. Brilliant vegan roasts and really tasty burger as mains. Puddings were nothing special but still very nice. Staff all very helpful and attentive. Would definitely recommend.

Very good Sunday late lunch. We both had excellent roast beef, Yorkshire pudding and nicely cooked vegetables although food should have been served warmer & on hotter plates. Staff were great & very efficient. It was very busy and we had to wait a while for our food but quite happy with a nice bottle of wine. recommended by our waiter.

Great place for an evening out, had a really good time and patrons were friendly enough. Had a meal in the restaurant and for general pub grub its not that bad, but don't expect high restaurant quality. Definitely will visit again for a night out.

I absolutely love this place! Came in on a very busy afternoon without a booking with my elderly parents and instead of making us stand at the bar (which we were happy to do) the lovely manager Robert kept his eye out for the next available table and sat us down pretty much immediately so my parents had somewhere to sit. His service was impeccable, so fast and friendly and I'm pretty sure my mum walked away with a big crush (don't tell my dad). The food there is outstanding / it's honestly the best pub in the village. They go above and beyond and I will definitely be coming back for seconds ..

This is such a great pub. Even though we don't live in Blackheath, we make the effort to come here usually every month or so. The food is great, the pub is spacious and usually buzzing as it is so popular, and the staff are excellent. I even asked once if the pub was co-operaticely owned, as the staff were both so good and had such a good balance amongst themselves, I naturally assumed that they were invested in it as well. Can't rate this place enough. The vegan burgers are sensational too.

Lovely little pub often forgotten about as it's just away from Blackheath village and the main shops, pubs and restaurants. Once you know about it you will want to keep going back. Great help and service from Nathaniel and Anna who was always there to help and had happy and warming personalities. The drinks are typical Blackheath prices and the food was top notch. Perfectly presented and reasonably priced. 4 of us had fish and chips and I had the vegan Wellington. Nothing left on the plates showed how good the food was. Would definitely recommend to anyone wanting good food and drink in a very relaxing bar

First time we walked in was warm, friendly and a great Atmosphere. The staff were very helpful even though they were super busy, definitely going back but this time we going to book a table for eats. Oh yes! The entertainment was superb, just the right style for the ambiance… Fab time had by all …😁👍

Nice little friendly place in blackheath serving simple tasty gastro food. The menu was a little sparse on choice but no complaints otherwise #thehare&billet #blackheath #thehappycouple #theextreamlyhappycouple

The pub is in a great location and the menu is certainly a cut above your average pub food, which is reflected in the pricing. The service was punctual and not unfriendly but eccentric, with a mix between bluntness, old fashioned friendliness and a general sense that we were something to deal with quickly rather than customers to welcome. It's hard to explain, but I suspect they may have been on the wind down after a busy Sunday lunch service, because it was all a bit de-mob happy. Still, we had a nice time, our main server was a nice guy, and would consider going back to a characterful pub.

Nothing better than a dog walk followed by some wine and great food at The Hare & Billet. Love this place. Highly recommend! Dog friendly 100%!!

Nice place. Friendly customer service and the roast dinner was nice and plentiful. Toilets were also clean. We came at 19:00 on a Sunday - no reservation was needed but it was lively.

Lovely meal, the staff were amazing and love how dog friendly it is. Vegan main was delicious, only 4 stars as there was only ice cream / sorbet on the menu for vegan dessert. It's a shame there wasn't something more appealing after such a nice main. But it wouldn't stop us coming back as we had a wonderful afternoon thank you

Really disappointing vegan option. Do not get the vegan fish and chips. It's just a block of unseasoned tofu in batter. Thankfully I was able to get a refund and the staff were somewhat understanding but still a little rude about veganism in general.

Cannot get enough of their newest menu! The food is just so nice (out performs most restaurants in the area to be honest!). So tasty, reasonably priced food and drinks and great selection of spirits! Great for a chilled night with your friends (and dog!)
