From outside it looks poor and uninviting. Inside is great. Library & fireplace. Food good as any other Wetherspoon

Nice pub, but woefully slow service, to the point it was a bit of a joke amongst the regulars. The food was well priced but overcooked... You don't expect a rare steak to come out medium to well done, and you don't expect your burger to be dry. The cutlery could have been cleaner too. However, we were hungry and we ate it. At £20 for both meals and a pint each, I suppose you shouldn't expect too much

I went into your Harlow pub yesterday and ordered a pint of Guinness. I have been drinking it for years and know that apart from the head, it should be a dark black. However, this one was a light brown even after it had been sitting on the bar for over 5 minutes. I therefore asked the person who served me, who claimed he was the Shift Manager if I could swap it for something else as I did not want to drink something that just didn't look right. He said no I can't, gave me my money back and said he would no longer serve me that night, but did not bar me, in fact he said to come back tomorrow. He said that clearly their beer is not up to my standards. I said well that one's not which is why I have asked to swap it, but to no avail. As a Customer I feel I have the right to express concerns about the quality of the item I intended to drink before I do so. However, I was, I feel, penalised for expressing genuine concerns about whether it was safe to drink said pint. They've now decided to bar me for expressing genuine concerns about the quality of their beer. Avoid, drinking their beer may make you ill, and I mean more than usual!!!!!!!

I ordered a jacket potato cheese & beans the beans were dry, cheese a couple of shreds on top & the jacket potato was hard at the ends where it had been microwaved & wasn't even warm. My mum had Ham, egg & chips the chips were as dry as, ham was ok the egg wasnt cooked properly it was snotty on the top🤢. Sent email in to head office, someone from the pub contacted me via email, asking for reciept which I wasn't given & as I paid by cash it's my fault they can't do anything about it, I've sent a further email but they haven't responded as yet. The disabled toilet really smelt terrible, & wasn't that clean. Would I go back certainly not.

My sister and I came for breakfast, I ordered the small American breakfast and it came up stone cold, I returned it to a bar staff only to it being brought back to me having being zapped in the microwave, including the fried egg. Anyway it wasn't exceptible so the lady got onto her walkie talkie demanding a fresh one ASAP, letting everyone in the pub to know what was going on. Anyway the fresh breakfast came out only for the maple syrup to be so cold it must have just been poured from the fridge, and the hash brown was still frozen. The pub wasn't busy at the time, so I feel like this service really wasn't acceptable. The coffee from the self service machine was lovely though.

Been coming here as I’m staying in a hotel not far from here. Staff are polite & very amiable. Went to order a Tuesday night steak club classic steak & it wasn’t available. But the gourmet steak was available. The bar tender radioed to the kitchen asking why to be told they make more money from the gourmet so that’s what they are selling. Pitiful excuse & I won’t be back again.

Ordered a mixed grill, was told there were no fried eggs so offered scrambled or poached. Opted for poached. When arrived I was told only scrambled were available. The whole dinner was Luke warm at best. I complained to the server who then asked the manager to see me. The manager then proceeded to tell me that I had my plate on my table for 1/2 hour that’s why it was cold. Absolutely disgusting customer service. Received a refund after several tables around me confirmed my story. I Was more or less being called a liar. 😡

Very slow service... half five on a Saturday (17th June) and it took over half an hour to serve 3 other people and myself... Definitely gone downhill over the years. Didn't want to tempt getting food, the table next to us had ordered before we got there and was still waiting after we had finished our drinks. Editted to drop one star for the creepy response from "owner" and to add the date as requested

A grim and dreary ex dole office. Now a sticky carpeted refuge for a broad cross section of Harlow residents. Take that however you like. Edited to add: surfaces are very much not cleaned between customers. In fact there's a used napkin on the table beside mine from a previous customer.

Loved it... Cool ambient atmosphere... Nice cocktails and ciders... Staffs are very friendly... Food is available upto 10.30pm. Booz is available upto 12am, till the closure time... For ordering, qr code option available for scanning, which was very convenient...

Bacon served up as a crisp cheap I admit but it was a crisp. Promised to change it but had to go and chase it up after I had finish the rest of the meal

Popped in for breakfast and was surprised by what they had to offer and was nicely surprised by the bottomless coffee.... the barstaff was really helpful and the locals seemed friendly too. Would defently go back next time I'm up this way.

Good prices on drinks, first shipyard was flat and tasted off but bartender was happy to replace it with another drink. Good choice of sambuca shots lots of flavours.

Used because we were pushed for time and we are familiar with menu. Table not clean and wasn't wiped during our visit. Usual noisy customers that grate into your conversation. That said, food reasonable quality and certainly cheap. Coffee good and toilets clean. One of my least favourite Wetherspoons and regrettably consistently poor.

I found the food was ok and it was brought out quickly but there's very little interaction with the staff who don't even ask if all is ok. The way of ordering may be convenient but it's very impersonal.

After waiting over 50min for food (met with attitude from the server when I enquired where it was) at Pizza "Express" I walked out in disgust and came to the trusty old spoons. Ordered pizza on the app which arrived 9 min later. Makes you wonder how a spoons can manage it yet a restaurant whereby their job is Pizza can't. Well done spoons. Nice pizza and a nice cold pint.

Always enjoy visiting this venue. Excellent range of food and drinks as usual. Decor needs revamp though, very threadbare in places. Good staff and service generally, and parking close by if needed. Well worth a visit if in the area.

2 months after my original review we decided to chance breakfast. (We used to be regulars until our last experience below) We arrived at 11am and ordered our food and drinks by 11.05 via the app. Our coffee cups arrived within 5 minutes. At about 11.30 we were told there were no vegetarian sausages so we were offered a choice of swaps. (1 egg for 2 sausages!) At 11.50 our food still hadn't arrived. We were told there was a delay yet everyone else who had arrived after us had finished eating. We eventually ate at 12 after I chased our food up. When my husband had finished eating they brought a hash brown which had previously been missing. Honestly, we won't be bothering again, as this place has a habit of ruining our mood and our plans for the day with their ridiculous inability to serve food in a timely manner! --- Have had a few decent meals here so we generally return fairly regularly. However on this occasion I was extremely disappointed. We sat for 10 minutes with someone else's plates piled on the table and had to ask for them to be removed. The table was not wiped either. I ordered a jacket potato with cheese and coleslaw as an extra. Also ordered drinks. The drinks came after the food and there was no glass incduded for my husbands bottled drink, a glass was offered and accepted but never came. The jacket potato had a thimbleful of grated cheese on it and the coleslaw didn't come, I was told it was coming separately. I had to chase it up. It arrived, the pot I had paid extra for was half full. I asked for it to be filled. By the time it came back full my food was stone cold and I had lost my appetite and my husband had finished his large brunch! They refunded me and were nice enough about it, but honestly I wish we hadn't come as it just really put me off the place. I appreciate it was busy. The place always seems sorely understaffed and despite the fact they're always rushing around the staff don't seem to see the jobs which need doing such as clearing tables etc.

Went for lunch with my friend. Never noticed it before. The staff were attentive. It was spacious. Perfect atmosphere and the food was lovely and very reasonable to boot. I couldn’t fault it and will definitely be going back. Chrissy

Great drinks and fast service. Unfortunately had under cooked pork on my meal. Team leader Charlie very quickly apologised and issued a refund for the dish. Star rating would have been lower if not for the speedy actions of Charlie. Well done that man!

As a regular customer of wetherspoons this has to be the worst one of them all atmosphere is non existent.. pity it's in my hometown it's one saving grace is the staff who are all friendly. Please pick a new building and new location I beg you.

Breakfast a total waste of money, fried eggs had hard yokes, hardly any beans, very dry hash browns and toast was dirty, staff don't give a toss, so i left it and walked out. Won't be going back

Great place to go and eat or just have a drink. Great selection of food. The only criticism is they could do with more people on the bar when its busy. I was in there recently, quite a lot of people waiting to be served and only one person behind the bar.

It's a lottery to discover if your table is going to be sticky or not or if the staff have missed items from your order. It would be nice if the staff could string a sentence together.

  • 3/5 Shirley W. 1 year ago on Google
Typical weatherspoons, no surprises, food mediocre, as expected , service friendly but waiting staff under pressure as short staffed. Toilets could do with additional cleaning visits, again due to understaffing. All in all a pleasent good value evening at a friendly pub with friends.

Visited on one of the hottest days of the year. Found the whole experience rather surreal. Not the most stylish JD Wetherspoon's I've ever visited. However I was served politely & enjoyed my drink. There were one or two, erm, eccentric fellow customers, think the heat had maybe got to them. . .ha . .

Good prices for food and drink. Food is decent enough but not the best, but again I feel the price reflects on this so its fine. Big place lots of room. Some board games for the kids to play with

Service was a bit slow, table numbers are random, No 2 next to 101 probably doesn't help. Eggs were undercooked otherwise ok good. No view .

Waited over 40 minutes for our food for a family of 2 adults and 2 children When the food arrived it wasnt hot, seemed as though it might had been resting in the kitchen for a couple minutes. Beans were like room temperature or even straight out of the can. I know this place is not a fast food establishment, but I was disappointed in the length of time I had to wait for my food. This also meant we was not able to relax and let our food settle as waiting for the food had taken up almost half of our parking time. I would have rathered the bar staff to let me know how long the food will take than to say your food will be with you in 15 minutes when you know that its lies.

👍 Food is fine, nothing amazing but okay pub food. I did think this serving of beef burnt ends as a steak topper was poor though, it’s pulled meat not burnt ends! Great service from the whole team though. Edit to add, following the response from the pub, the burnt ends are listed on the menu as "Fla...
