Nice pub, close to Farringdon station. Spacious with good decor and good facilities. Good ambience, good vibes. Prices of drink and food were on moderated to high side.

The Crown (review on food at the end) is a lovely neighbourhood pub in the heart of Clerkenwell. It’s cozy in the winter and perfect in the summer with its outdoor space. It’s a beautifully decorated pub and the staff is friendly and attentive. They have a standard beer and wine selection. It’s not a hot spot; it’s a relaxed, comfortable pub for after work. It’s our neighbourhood spot and we like to pop in now and then. As for food, it’s not a highlight. It’s pricey for what you get. We were disappointed with our recent lunch there, and decided that we will go here just for drinks in the future.

One of the few pubs that have specialised people to explain to you what type of beer you should try. I find that very professional . The place is elegant with a touch of mystery. Very specious and equipped to host small but also big parties. Definitely, it's worth having a cold, delicious pint of there.

I really enjoyed this pub...we got served quickly and staff seemed polite enough. There is an area outside and we were able to get a table which was great. I imagine you'd have to get in early to secure a seat. Interior was classic and pleasing to the eye, great location to start or as part of a bit of a pub crawl. Friends seemed to enjoy the wine and plenty on tap to choose from. Also, there's more room and dining upstairs but I never got that far; go check it out.

Super relaxed atmosphere, with great staff, with a great range of food and drinks available.

Popped in for a drink on a Bank Holiday afternoon, it was pleasantly busy at that time of day. Especially when others in the area were not even open! Service was efficient, i would have preferred a taller glass for my spirit and mixer, i really dont like them served in tumblers but it is becoming more popular again. The place does need a bit of a spruce, lots of marks on walls, missing paint for all to see so loses a mark there for me. Overall, i would return again.

We would like to write a positive review. Walked in early for a later reservation to enjoy drinks first. Only to be told they do not have any tables available even though we had made a reservation. So if you are going just for drinks, the atmosphere is good. If you plan to eat, then expect you could have to find last minute other options. No real apology either.

Fantastic venue for few pre dinner drinks before Exmouth Mkt. Had booked a ttable for drinks for 9 people on a cold Sarturday evening. Staff were welcoming and efficient as they sorted out logistics. Real old school family type feeling in the pub with dogs walking around. Great place.

A cozy pub with above par bites and decent beer options. The haloumi fries (ideally dipped in a jus) were fantastic, but all the bar snacks were solid. Lots of outdoor seating options.

Not impressed. Sat at table drinking for three hours then told table is reserved from in ten minutes time. Asked to leave. Been coming here for years to meet on a Saturday every couple of months. Current staff couldn't care. Moving to a Tavern quite close.

Really nice local English pub in Clerkenwell Green. Great spot to sit down and enjoy a beer if you’re around the area. Very spacious with tables distributed around two floors and outside sitting. The staff is helpful and friendly. Standard Menu with beer, wine and soft drinks, as for food, I’ve tried the “beyond meat” burger and fish & chips both were good, not a gastro-pub.

Disappointing experience. I went there on a Sunday evening and when I asked to try one of the guest draughts the bartender just poured me the pint. But the time I'd noticed, it was half poured, when I pointed it out to her she didn't offer to give me a try instead so I reluctantly paid for it anyway. However it turned out that the pub closed 15 minutes after I ordered and no one told me this. To me this it's basic pub etiquette not too expect a customer to drink a pint in a quarter of an hour so this was a fairly disappointing experience. There are better places to go for a beer in the area. Avoid this chain pub (part of Mitchell and Butler's group) and choose an independent pub where service is better and you are welcomed and valued.

We had such a great time at The Crown at our 2022 Christmas party we went back again this year - and weren't disappointed! Delicious food, friendly service, reasonable prices and a lovely, cheerful, comfortable pub. Thoroughly recommend.

We went there after walking for hours in the cold rain, and fortunately there was a free table in the evening. The bar staff was friendly and welcoming. The place was dimmed and had Christmas lights on, the heating was very welcomed. The place is cosy and the chairs are comfy. We tried to order a few things but they didn't have at least 2 items on the menu so we just all went with fish & chips with some cider. We gobbled it up pretty fast and sat there all satisfied. A lady came to take our plates later, very friendly and animated. Loved the vibes over all. Would recommend and would return :)

Really enjoyed the pub. Have visited before just for drinks but this was the first time we had lunch. There were 17 of us and we were in the upstairs dining room. Food was good but I wouldn’t say it was fantastic. Staff could be a bit more cheerful. While most of the group ordered dessert on the app there was no way I could request the Brownie without the caramel sauce so when I asked the member of staff if i could make my order through I was told I would have to wait at least 15 minutes so I didn’t bother.

We had our annual friends Christmas party in the Apollo Room and the day couldn’t have been more perfect. The staff were great, particular shout out to Simon who was a legend and ran the bar for us. Everyone enjoyed the food and we were impressed that it all came out hot - not easy with 36 people to serve! We had such a great day at The Crown Tavern and would highly recommend booking here if you are planning an event. Thanks to the team, we hope you have a great Christmas and New Year!

The actual pub and atmosphere is nice, but the food is crazily overpriced (even for central London) and the service was pretty poor. Our food came 10-15 mins apart, and sauces and cutlery were forgotten completely.

Great atmosphere in the pub) The food is delicious, the staff is friendly and will always help you with your order.

If you want to make your own order and pay for it, including the suggested 10% tip, before you even see a waiter this is the place for you. If you then want to berated by the manager because there was a problem with the digital menu system and you didn't preemptively know this and came to the manager to fix your order beforehand. Then this is the place for you. We work in an office nearby and came with a group of foreign business associates for a late lunch and I can't believe how belittling and rude the manager was. He really couldn't be bothered to help us but he could indeed make an effort to be condescending. Even went the extra mile with some added attitude when punching in the corrections to our order and when adressing the staff. Great way to ruin the atmosphere and the lunch for everyone. 5/5 if you like bad experiences.

Brilliant staff, food and atmosphere. Staff couldn’t do enough to help with my nut allergy and the food was very tasty. There atmosphere had a real buzz and was lovely to sit and enjoy it after our meal.

We hired the Apollo Room for a work function. Great communication leading up to the event and the evening itself ran super smoothly. Amazing food and service! We will definitely return.

I'm a vegetarian and when I went there with my colleague I didn't really think there would be that many options and even if they did it wouldn't taste as good, but I was pleasantly surprised. The food was really nice. Although the staff could have been a bit more welcoming and courteous.

Very aggressive behaviour from a member of the bar staff. I ordered a pint and bar tender topped up a previously poured pint that was sitting under the taps. When I asked how long it had been there, he got very aggressive and insisted he had just poured it - this was not the case, I clearly saw what he had done. Given his aggressive attitude, I just said it was fine and took the beer but I would not visit this bar again. Completely unacceptable behaviour on the both counts.

We booked a room here for a leaving party in January 2022. Our son, who is 22, came with a photo of his passport on his phone – which he uses for ID everywhere - but the staff said that it could have been altered and were really difficult about it. We spent the afternoon there with about 30 friends. We also bought food from there, which was really expensive at £28 per head. At the end of the evening, after we had all spent literally £1,000s there, the bar manager confiscated my son’s drink! It led to a huge row and the whole event was spoiled. The staff there are just too young and inexperienced to be running a pub, and they don’t even know the UK licencing laws – even if he was under 18, which he clearly wasn’t, he was accompanied by his parents, who were buying his drinks, and they were serving us food! They really are rank amateurs. There are plenty of other nice pubs where you can hire a room nearby, this one doesn’t deserve to be in business. Avoid!

Does it have to be so loud, or am I just old? The staff were wearing earpieces, to no discernible benefit to the service, and the table of obnoxious young media types next to ours stole our food.

Lovely old fashion pub with fantastic food and great real ale beers. Would recommend booking a table upstairs as gets very busy and noisy. And it off the beaten track.

Good food, nice atmosphere, great and friendly staff. What's not to like? Stopped for lunch with a mate while out and about, would drop by again.

It’s going to be confirmed that Stalin first met Lenin here at this small Victorian Tavern more than 100 years ago which was going to change the world and also set up a schedule for the failure of Lenin’s revolution. What a historical moment to speculate while seeing mobs around you here only to drink and talk nonsenses together and get crazy….

We hosted a private event at the Crown Tavern, and had a fantastic evening! The Apollo Room was perfectly suited to our needs, with lots of seats and space for people to mingle. The food was incredible- I had rave reviews from the guests, saying it was the best food of their whole visit to the UK! The bar staff were fantastic, all friendly and polite. I wanted to say a special thanks to Zoe, who helped me to organise this event. She dealt with my many requests promptly, professionally and kindly, and went the extra mile to accommodate our fairly complicated needs. She’s a credit to the Crown and I really hope to work with her again. Thank you Zoe!

Went there for Christmas lunch a few days ago. The food was nice and great service. We had the Appolo room to ourselves for most of the afternoon and went downtairs for drinks afterwards, the pub was full tot the brim and there was a great atmosphere. It's worth a visit for a traditional pub lunch / experience.

One of our party was asked to show ID which they didn't have with them and refused to serve. I'm fine with this .. they are just doing their job. But we were not treated with any respect and felt like a criminal. Unbelievably rude, blunt and self entitled. It's clear this guy loves his "authority".

Scam to be rude and overcharge customers by staffer who seems to be in charge of responding to the negative reviews on this site. We were severed and overcharged by a male staffer who was aggressive when we asked for our money back. Luckily another staff member gave us his name and details to complain to the absent manager and head office. Troubling to see that other one star reviews about aggressive bar staff are signed off by the very man who tried to intimidate us. Avoid at all costs, much nicer and friendly pubs on the green who don't reward nasty behavior.

Stopped by this pub with a couple of friends to have a drink and to see Lenin and Stalin's meeting place. Overall, the drinks were okay. The aggressive behaviour of one of your staff members while serving the drinks, however, did not meet our expectations. I can understand that table service is not offered for drinks, but the tone used by the server to convey this was appalling and condescending. As a customer, you shouldn't be expecting this behaviour. Unfortunately, I won't be stopping by here again.

Excellent room upstairs for meetings/social events. Staff were very helpful to us at our one on Sunday. Set in a lovely square to sit and drink in after.

A beautiful and peaceful place during the day with a lovely garden to spend time with your family! We visited The Crown Tavern last Sunday (lunch time) and we were fascinated by the good service and pleasant atmosphere! This is sure to become one of our family's most frequented pubs!

Had Christmas dinner here. The staff were beyond helpful, we had our own room and the food was absolutely incredible. Huge portions, super tasty and catered for all dietary needs. We eat out every year and this year's venue was by far the best. They even gave us loads of cheese and chocolate to take home as we were all so full. What really made this an amazing experience was all the staff and just how lovely they are.

Lovely pub - a great mix of local and Clerkenwell business. Service was fantastic and food was amazing - better than your usual fare for central London.. All the staff really lovely and the landlord even gave us a history of the pub despite clearly being busy - we felt very welcome and all 6 of us agreed to come back soon
