My summary would be “try it once”. The food was really good, and obviously sourced fresh and locally. And the prices were fine. We also got turned on to an excellent wine while there. That being said, it’s a very small restaurant and when they are at capacity, it becomes a loud, claustrophobic vibe, instead of the quaint romantic atmosphere we were hoping for. They either need to enlarge the space or reduce the number of tables they have. A drunken party of 4 seated two tables down nearly ruined our dinner with their very loud and boisterous conversations. I asked the server to please ask a manager to have them take it down, but at a fine dining establishment, why wouldn’t the manager do that without me having to ask? Their 2-top table is TINY. We felt crowded trying to keep all of our dishes, flat ware, menus, candle, etc on that table. The couple to our right had a much wider table. Odd inconsistency for fine dining. Overall I’m glad we checked it out, but I doubt we will go back.

As anyone who follows me knows, I don’t like to complain. However, I am posting on Barringtons based on how I was treated on Tuesday not the food. Please know Barringtons has been my family’s go-to celebration place for several years now. The food is consistently delicious and I love the atmosphere. However, Tuesday I was met with a snobby attitude and was turned away. Here’s my take — meeting some girlfriends after work around 6. We had planned to go to Foxcroft Wine but when arrived, we found they were closed for an event. So I said I’d see if Barringtons had a table… when I walked in they had maybe two tables seated inside, maybe one on the patio. Plenty of space. I asked the folks behind the little bar if we could sit outside for drinks and nibbles and was told by a woman I’ve seen there numerous times “no, we don’t do that.” I was surprised but said okay and left. Mind you, I was dressed up from work and wasn’t in sweats or other other scuzzy clothing. And too bad for Barringtons as we went elsewhere and ended up spending about $150 on wine, appetizers and a meal. Shame on them for being snobby. I have to say, I don’t think they’ll be my go-to place anymore. Charlotte has too many good restaurants for anyone to act like this. Bye

Ok, so I think this place wins the award for my favorite restaurant in Charlotte! The staff were so pleasant, and the venue is quaint, and it feels like a private catered event with friends. Honestly, when I saw that “fish and chips” were on the menu, I was intrigued based on the caliber of restaurant, and the simple style of the dish to be served there. But honestly, HOLY HELL it blew my mind. Worth every penny and best fish and chips I have ever had. I want to be a regular here.

I took my girlfriend to Barrington's on a recent Saturday night. It is a small but very classy restaurant. We split the arugula salad and ordered a bread basket. I am not used to paying for bread, but it was very tasty. I ordered the Gnocchi, and I loved it. My date had the rigatoni, and she let me try it. Both meals were delicious, and I would get the rigatoni the next time I go back. They also have a nice selection of wine by the glass. For dessert, we split the warm chocolate pudding cake, and it was a real treat. Our server Mike was very helpful with reviewing the menu and providing exceptional service. I would highly recommend Barrington's for your next date night.

The best fine dining restaurant in Charlotte, the most like Nana's in Durham that we have found. Everything is prepared to perfection and the service is great. This is our go-to restaurant for our anniversary and birthdays, and it would be great for other special occasions or to treat guests to a fabulous meal.

The restaurant was very small but nice place to have a nice meal. Because the place is small it was kind of loud. The food was very good, what I didn't like was you had to order a four course meal. I wasn't expecting to eat a four course meal. The service was good.

This was our first time, but we will be back, especially for Barrington's winter menu (it will have steak). We ordered braised octopus (delish). For our main course we opted for juicy perfectly cooked to medium rare lamb chops and mouth watering scallops. Paired with Malbec, this was an excellent dinner!

Special Anniversary Dinner. Cozy and intimate restaurant tucked away from the business of South Park, but in close proximity. Excellent personal service and top notch food. Loved that there were a really small number of tables available in the restaurant.

  • 5/5 Emmet A. 3 years ago on Google
The portions were generous. They give you four full entree portions (the four of us only finished three), as well as four starters (soup or salad), a pasta (gnocchi - so delicious and plenty for the 4 of us to share), six rolls, and a small dessert. The quality of the meal was what you would expect from a fine dining restaurant

Fine dinner with an intimate atmosphere in South Park! The food here is seasonal and the two times I have eaten here I have enjoyed my entree and it's been a special occasion. The fish dishes are uniquely prepared, elegantly plated and tasty.

Expect to see some who's who's and maybe a celebrity or 2 if you book here but make sure you book an advance because they're hard to get into. The food and staff are all incredible. As owner of SilverFox Limos, I bring a lot of our high end clients here and they come from a long ways a way to come here!!! #45

Superior overall service made my dining experience noteworthy. Excellent quality of fresh ingredients. Delicate seafood dishes, like the Octopus and Sea Scallops were prepared flawlessly. A generous portion of the decadent foie gras made my eyes sparkle. My husband thoroughly enjoyed the duck breast entree. Do not skip dessert! You won't want to miss out on Baklava Cheesecake, or if you are lucky, they will still have the seasonal apple cranberry cobbler.

The restaurant is ok, the place is small and the tables very small, there was barely enough room for the food. Paper table clothes!! No real linens. Food was ok, nothing out of the ordinary.

Tasty but small portions due to overcooked fish. We were not as impressed with entrees this visit but really like the lobster corn soup and peach blackberry cobbler.

Fabulous food and service. The 4-course menu is a great value. each person gets to choose their preferred appetizer, pasta, entree and dessert. My friends and I agreed that all of the pasta options were great. The gnocchi is really well made. It isn't heavy. My scallops were perfectly cooked. I really liked the wine options while my old fashioned was decent. Ultimately, I would focus on wine vs cocktails here. FYI, very few of the menu options are plant-based. You may want to call if you have a vegetarian to see what options they have.

This place is awesome! Been coming here originally from northern Virginia and now from lake Oconne Georgia. Every time we come we are not disappointed. Service , staff and kitchen are amazing. Never a bad meal or experience. We just ate there November 22 . Always a wonderful experience . Special shout out to Shelia and Jen and Chef. Thank you for a great experience each time we visit!

It's small but that's the charm. The food is always awesome. The drinks are great! I had the key lime drink, my husband the blood orange. For food we had the cheese plate, he had the halibut and I had the pork. I probably should have gone lighter, but oh well. The food is always on point!

Barrington's, a distinguished establishment in Charlotte, North Carolina, is a prime example of New American cuisine. Opened in 2000 by Chef Bruce Moffett, it has quickly become a cherished staple in the South Park community. The restaurant is celebrated for its exceptional New American fare, which is adaptable and reflects the chef's culinary imagination. This creative flexibility has been a significant factor in its two decades of success, fostering a sense of familial connection through shared meals. Barrington's commitment to quality and innovation has earned it a remarkable 4 out of 4 stars from the Charlotte Observer. The venue's intimate setting is noted for its comfort, yet it's advised to make reservations due to its smaller size, emphasizing the high demand and quality of the dining experience. In summary, Barrington’s Restaurant offers a blend of inventive New American cuisine and a warm, welcoming atmosphere. Its high recognition and consistent accolades make it a must-visit destination for those seeking a culinary experience that combines comfort, creativity, and exceptional flavors.

Absolutely amazing experience. We got there and the cute little restaurant was quiet and peaceful. When we sat down our waitress asked us if we wanted any drinks to start off with and after she came back 15 minutes later and asked for appetizers and for the first dish. 5 minutes after the apps came the food. It had great flavors and an amazing presentation. Best restaurant in Charlotte without a doubt.

Delicious food. Wonderful service. Comfortable dining room. I thought Good Food was my favorite of the group, but Barrington’s takes the cake. Our favorite dishes were the tomato salad, rigatoni and swordfish!

The food here is always out of this world good. It’s so nice to have a restaurant like Barrington’s nearby where we can indulge in a fresh and curated seasonal menu. It’s perfect for a date night, and easily one of the best restaurants in Charlotte. I loved the cornbread dessert topped with ice cream – a bit of sweetness and southern charm!

Was totally pleased with the wait staff, service, and food. All dishes ordered by our table from the quail and waffles to the rabbit pot pie was enjoyed and delicious. We also had wonderful desserts...apple cranberry cobbler and bread pudding. This is a small cozy restaurant, but the cuisine is worth it.

Middling flavor experience. Broccoli soup was bland, salad was nothing special, chicken was plain, fish was plain. Sauces were uninspired if they existed. 30-40 worth of value for double the price.

Small and intimate fine dining restaurant off Fairview Rd in a strip shopping area with understated entrance. Featured entrees for all tastes. Proper seasoning to enhance the natural flavors of all dishes. Above average wait staff and an attentive manager to see your special desires are met. Full bar available, but limited bar area. Can be a little too loud at times. Close quarters all around, but the service and food makes this place a must try. Ample parking.

Surprisingly, tonight's meal was mediocre. Dry red snapper & short ribs that tasted more like pot roast. Very disappointed. Not up to what we've come to expect from Barringtons.

  • 5/5 Reggie S. 4 years ago on Google
She ordered the cauliflower soup for appetizer and I opted to get the tagliatelle with toasted prosciutto. It is not an appetizer but figured we would share it. Both were delicious. For our main course my cousin got the Catch of the day, which was red snapper. I got the jerk seasoned quail. Both dishes were layered with flavor. The quail had a bean mango salsa with plantains and habanero quail reduction. It was so delicious.

To celebrate our grand-daughter’s graduation, our family went for dinner to Barrington’s. Since it was the weekend, we booked in advance. We surprised by its small size and floored by the high quality of service and cuisine. The sweet corn soup with Maine lobster bits, Alaskan halibut fish & chips, scallops, quail and Mahi Mahi were absolutely outstanding. And the desserts were no exception.Albeit a mite pricey, I can understated why it is rated among the leading restaurants in Charlotte. The first of Chef Bruce Moffett’s restaurants, Barrington’s is absolutely Brilliant!
