Going to Essex is a STAPLE in each of my Charlotte trips! I go here several times throughout my stay whenever I’m in Charlotte and I LOVE IT HERE! The Lamb Lollipops are A MUST! The pictures: Butter Chicken, Hummus, Lamb Lollipop, Chocolate Cake. The environment is nice and the staff is always welcoming. Chris was our waiter both times this time around, and he is THE best! We went back the second time requesting him as our waiter due to how much we appreciated his service! He’s kind, welcoming, and entertaining! Thank you, Essex, for always making the stay in Charlotte the best!

First time at Essex for a large group lunch. The apps and food were fantastic! I enjoyed our time there. The service was good but not out of this world, could have been a bit more attentive to the large group. Would happily eat here again for a lunch with a smaller party. Butter chicken was a large portion and the bread was a interesting touch. The tacos were also great.

The patio is what brought us to Essex Bar & Bistro. It was a fantastic afternoon and the patio looked great to sit out and enjoy the people on the plaza. We had street tacos and pizza and the drinks were great. Be sure to ask questions if you don't know what something is. I ended up with a full glass of tequila. It was good! Just unexpected. The service was great and really enjoyed the experience.

If I can be a little picky, I wished those falafels were warm inside and kind of crispy outside. But the taste was really good and the sauce was AMAZING! And chicken curry was great too! A little bit salty but I liked it a lot. I want to say thank you to our server Kaitlyn who picked my drinks and made me happy! She was so kind to us and knew my taste! We will definitely going back again soon!

5/2023 I sat outside because the weather was nice! The food was great! The cheesecake was good, but the raspberry puree sold it! I love the feel of this restuarant. Definitely a highlight of my trip to Charlotte! I'll be back! Update: 9/2023 I came back as promised! Just as good as I remember!

Our hotel recommended this restaurant and we had a lovely lunch during the St.Patricks day bar crawl. The service and food were incredible and started off our anniversary weekend in the best way. Everything was incredibly flavorful and we honestly enjoyed the food so much more than other places we had to make reservations for. We had tacos (shrimp and fish) and a few mules. It’s definitely a must return on my Charlotte list.

Staff: two people behind the bar: he is constantly eating and not giving a damn about customers nor giving eye contact. Constantly eating … seriously She did pay attention and had to do all the work. Food was terrible and sooooo expensive. Had the three small burger thing - which ended up around $2.00 per bite. For. Freaking burger. Bar area was dirty and not comfortable at all. All happens on the last Friday in September of this year. If it was on me get rid of the guy who is being paid eating at work. Then my check might become cheaper but don’t worry I for sure won’t come back.

Went here for a night out and the food was okay. The menu is to diverse so they have a lot to pick from. The sliders were okay and everything else was. I wouldn’t come again, but atmosphere and service was good

The service was quick and we were seated fast. We came here on a Saturday night late after a show at the Belk theater. It might have been the time of the night (10:30 pm) but the music was so loud that we could not talk at a two top. Besides that, the drinks were top notch and the food was good (my wife loved it). I would visit again if it wasn't as loud. But if you're young or young at heart go for it the ambiance is great.

I had the chicken brie l’t and holy moly was this sandwich amazing! Everything paired together SO nicely. I didn’t get a chance to take a picture of all the food because everyone dove right in but from what others in my party said we were all very impressed with what we ordered. Docking a star because the shift change on 4/13 which we had to endure was highly uncomfortable and made us feel like we were a huge inconvenience. Otherwise, inside of the restaurant was gorgeous and outside seating on a beautiful day is highly recommended!

Our first time here, we had lunch on the Saturday before Easter. It was crowded but we had no wait to sit and our food and drinks were quickly brought out. They were out of Limoncello but I had the prickly pear cocktail and it was delicious. I had the blackened grouper tacos and my husband the chicken shawarma pita. Both were delicious. The tacos seem very small but we’re filling. The cilantro micro greens were very tasty as was the sauce. We sat outside on a beautiful spring day and it was comfortable on the patio. Great atmosphere.

Just got back from Essex for dinner with colleagues. We got the Essex Dip and Fried Cauliflower for the table as appetizers. Both were delicious but we felt like the bread was less for the Dip especially if it was being shared by 5 people. My main dish was Butter chicken and it was amazing. I didn’t quite like the service today.

Presentation and Taste: 10/10. The ambience was perfect and warm for a cold night! Get the flat bread first- the sauce was so delicious and the bread was baked perfectly- not a burnt edge in sight. The lamb had the perfect texture and we got it both medium and well done. The drink was an old fashion- very strong! Get an appetizer if you’re going to drink so you can walk straight leaving the restaurant 😂. We are definitely going back!! Enjoy

The atmosphere and service were decent, but the food is meh and tiny portions, making it way too overpriced. The $28 Gorgonzola Shrimp entree came out looking like something from a kids menu. If you actually want dinner, go somewhere else.

One of the best meals I have ever ate in my life. I had the Korean Steak. The menu is quite different and many options I have never seen before. Everyone in our party was happy with their meal. Only issue is ,wish they gave out menus not qr codes. My phone data was running slow and couldn't load the menu.

Enjoyed our dinner meal. Short rib ravioli and the margarita flat bread were tremendous. Margarita was strong and delish
