The WORST INDIAN FOOD in Charlotte. Totally disgusting and disrespectful for an Indian food. I ordered twice to give them chance but disappointed every time. Never ever going back. Ordered LAMB dish and all I got is vegetables. Seriously guys NO LAMB all you put is carrots and bell peppers. Same thing with chicken tikka masala NO CHICKEN only bell peppers and carrots. Lamb tastes like sambhar and they call it Punjabi lamb lol very funny. Tikka Masala tastes like butter nut squash. They have no idea what they’re cooking. DON’T waste your money here.

Great Indian food. The place is very clean and welcoming. Our server was AWESOME. She was well informed on the different foods on the menu. She also recommended some delicious appetizers for us.. Thank you Vegita. 🤗

Very very very less quantity for $19 and really not feels like you eating a mutton biryani ….. don’t be greedy do the business in the proper way in anyway customer's pay for the food if you make good or bad food

Tried Sunday lunch first time and not much crowded. I took masala dosa and a Chai as it was bit early. I liked the dosa and masala was delicious. The chutneys are pretty decent. Green chutney, I thought it was made of coconut, but not felt like that. The Chai was exceptionally good, nice cardamom flavor. Must try. I ordered Dum Mutton Buryani for take away as well. Surprised by the quantity. It's a lot. Well enough for 2. Lots of meat and masala was really good and I can taste the flavors went into the each meat pieces. My first visit is very satisfying and planning to visit when possible. BTW, lots of parking on the adjacent parking lot and few on the road as well.

Great Indian food !! It's has variety and good taste. Starters were fresh and superb ! Many options to choose from the buffet lunch . The 1min quick dosa was wondrous. Enjoyed eating . I rate four stars because when you ask for water you should bring it fresh not serve from the existing water in your nearby table who has finished eating . Small hygiene sense . The servers should be little bit trained in serving people.

The worst and most garbage Indian food I have ever eaten. This place only knows what is profit and not what is making food that doesn't hurt a customer's stomach. Ordered an egg pulusu, egg bhonda, samosa and gutti vankaya pulusu. Never ever ordering from this dirty and trashy place ever again. I had an extremely upset stomach when it was almost midnight up until 3 A.M. after having both curries (with naan and roti) and egg bhondas. Ended up dumping the samosas after going through a terrible stomach ache. NOT ACCEPTABLE! Please change the chefs who know the definition of food and cooking or just close for the best. Don't even want to give one star. This place deserves negative infinity stars.

Godavari is synonymous with authentic south Indian cuisine.. We tried this restaurant earlier and liked the food, so thought of give it another try. We ordered Chicken 555 and Chicken Lollypop. We categorically told to make the food as less spicy as possible. Chicken 555 was delicious, Chicken was cooked perfectly. The green chilly paste was smelling good as well. As green chilly it was expected to be hot. However the Chicken lollipop was a complete mess. It was horribly spicy. It was that spicy, instantly it burnt the palate and I couldn't get any more taste of the food. Chefs serving in Indian restaurants should understand, Red Chilly is not SPICE. Taste of Indian food lies in different Indian spices. Putting more red chilly and calling the food spicy is only making it more awful.

So Awesome! Best Indian restaurant so far, the Naan is so fresh, the food is seasoned just right, and the service was awesome! Sorry about the pic, forgot to take it sooner, but as you can see, it was so good, was all gone.

Abysmal Indian food and dining experience at Godavari. We visited on a Saturday evening and found it lacking in so many aspects. The service was indifferent at best. We ordered the vegetarian manchurian, paneer Biryani and chai. The vegetarian manchurian tasted like they just warmed up the frozen stuff with some spices. The Biryani was hideous—it’s not how Biryani should be cooked. It seemed hastily put together—the rice and some spices, along with some paneer. Chai was decent. I won’t recommend Godavari if you’re looking for good Indian food. The ergonomics of the restaurant are disappointing too, with tables placed very close to each other, providing hardly any privacy. They’ve seating inside and outside, and parking is available outside as well. I won’t be back here.

Been to this place multiple times and the taste has been pretty consistent. Staff is very friendly and the service is great! Liked all the Andhra style food we have tried so far. We always go here when we don't feel like experimenting and want to eat something familiar. Great portion size. Good service and friendly atmosphere guaranteed :)

One of the best spots in University City for South Indian food. Never had a bad experience going here. They don't mess around with the spice either, so come here for an authentic experience. Friendly staff and never a wait time.

Decent restaurant. Was my first time here. Except the tandoori chicken, all other dishes were spot on. Tandoori chicken has room for improvement. I thought the meat was not fresh. Will revisit yo try out other dishes.

This place was recently opened and has made a comeback from the one at the University area. We had been there on Dusehra and all we could eat was just Veg. But must say we did not regret eating here. The food was delicious, in addition to the ones in the picture we had Butter Naan and Paneer Butter Masala as well and the Naan was freshly made and soft so was the Paneer! We were well attended and the price was reasonable as well. Would surely revisit to try the Non-Veg part of the menu !

First time trying Godavari. The service was very tentative and food was served in a fashionable time, still hot. We had tried different plates and appetizers. Not everything fit my pallet but glad I was able to enjoy trying a lot of different things. The Naan is good as it should be. Curry lamb is a must have as well as the chicken 555. Not the best Indian food I've had but still worth trying out.

Upscale ambience, very friendly staff, good customer service, well maintained place. We had Gobi Manchurian, cut Mirchi. Gobi was crunchy, well seasoned, flavored, very well done. Cut Mirchi was ok, no spice and not much flavor. Garlic naan and veg chittinad was really good. Very flavorful and tasteful. Veg dum biryani was good, could have been better. Kids triangle/cone dosa was Okay. Chutney and sambar could be improved. Overall, a good restaurant to dine in.

*********************************** Review during the covid panemic visit: Godavari Charlotte is located in a convenient locations in Charlotte NC. We visited here a couple months back so its a late review, things might've changed. But here goes my review, the place was well maintained, clean and followed the pandemic guidelines thoroughly. The staff was welcoming and friendly. The only thing lacked was the food taste. It wasn't how I expected based on how famous this place is and one of the most recommended. The South Indian food options were good but the North Indian curries were not that great. It can be improved, I'd give a 3.5 but wouldn't push myself for a 4 hence a 3. But this can change easily. ***********************************

Today I have tasted the Hyderabad dum biryani with gongura, but totally disappointed. Food is full of oil and chicken pieces are like roasted or bottom ones (how come dum with roasted meat)

Godavari is absolutely delicious. All the dishes we ordered were very flavorful. The staff were incredibly cautious about food preferences and vegetarian options. The staff took great care of us. Shahid was great at recommending several plates and provided a fantastic experience. Absolutely recommend eating here to those who love Indian cuisine and those who have never experienced it. We will certainly be back!

The food is very good, the service is quick and there is a wide variety of selections, but not all are available, so be sure to check that with the waiter as you order. We ordered Chef's Sp. Mutton Biryani and tandoori chocken and it was goood. Although the seating is a bit congested, which makes feel like people from side table speaking/whispering in your ears, but I guess that is due to the fact that the space is small itself. Also the bar wasn't open when we went, but that maybe because they might haven't gotten the license yet. Overall it was a good experience, would go like once every 2 months kinda place.....

I have been searching for an authentic Indian restaurant in Charlotte . I tried couple of them but unfortunately all of them have been customized to cater the local ppl here. But this is exactly what I was searching for . It caters to the taste of both , the Indians and the local people in Charlotte . So I would highly recommend this place . 5 stars from me to them !!

One of the best Indian restaurants in all of US. Ordered Chennai Coffee, Chicken 65, Medhurai Vada, Hyderabadi Chicken Dum Biryani, and Guntur Karam Dosa. Everything is extremely delicious buy the Dum Biryani is to die for! Must recommended 10/10
