I've been here twice and have some mixed feelings. On one hand there's an air of authenticity to the place. Some of the staff working here are Japanese - including the guy behind the sushi bar when I stopped in for lunch. It's a nice touch that they have food sample displays in the front of the store like you find at many restaurants in Japan. The staff are all friendly. I've had the tonkatsu here and thought it was pretty respectable. There are certain things they don't have on their lunch menu - including a la carte nigiri. At least as of the time of writing (April '23) they have a "Set B Lunch" with sushi, but I honestly wouldn't recommend it. Nori on the hand roll was soggy, the nigiri was so-so and heavy on the rice, and the roll you get with it is too big to eat in one bite. I think that whole thing could use a re-vamp. I'd be curious to swing by again around dinner time and see if it's a different experience.

Lunch meals B and C today (Yummy) My teen and I found ourselves in need of some light sustenance during this crazy heat wave. Sushi for the win! 🙌🏼🙌🏼 Everything was delicious. The staff was masked, seating spaced, and the environment still friendly and welcoming. We loved everything and give Musashi 5 stars all around for food, and service.

Great food, excellent wait staff. Best Japanese food I have had in all of Charlotte. Don’t let the area fool you. This restaurant could hold its own in uptown. Absolutely love this place. I hope they’re there for many many years. I might actually go again this coming weekend.

Had a fantastic dinner here this evening! Outstanding waitress, attentive to details, friendly, and observant. The food was wonderful. I enjoyed savoring the more delicate feel of good, fresh Japanese food rather than the overwhelming palette some places present by overusing what are perceived to be Japanese cuisine flavors. Everything was delicious, and the recommended hot sake was also perfect and affordable. Would love to go back.

Moving from San Francisco, it took us awhile to stumble upon a place where we can grab Japanese comfort food like we were used to in the Bay Area. Not maki the size of a baseball bat draped in mayo-based sauces. Not a menu containing Japanese, Chinese & Thai food (cover everything, master of nothing). No trendy vibe. What we found here are staples you’d find walking into a small town shokudo. The lunch menu always features an off-menu special like Katsu Curry or Karaage. The sushi is straightforward, approachable and always fresh as are the daily specials. Perhaps the top dish is the Nabe Udon which reminds me of the comfort food my grandmother would make on a Sunday night. Other authentic dishes include the Hot or Cold Tempura Soba, Katsu Don, Ika Karaage, Agedashi Tofu and Croquette. There are bento boxes and teriyaki selections available as well. Service is always great and you can tell the staff has been together for awhile. The primary server is awesome - she works super hard and manages the entire space. They have a tatami room for private dining and larger parties as well. Parking is super easy in the shopping center but the lines can be long. All in all, the most authentic Japanese restaurant in Charlotte.

Eat at this place! The chirashi for lunch is incredible. Had three pieces of fatty tuna and uni plus many other pieces of fresh fish.

Had one of the best meals of my entire life the other day. Went for lunch and ordered the A Lunch, which seems to be the chefs choice for the day. It came with a savory soup with dumplings in it and a main course of beef, rice, noodle salad, and veggies. Everything tasted perfect. I've been here many times and have never been disappointed. I will be back many more times.

We ate here for Saturday lunch; the service was okay, and the food was mediocre. My husband and I ordered a lunch bento box B, Una-don, and vegetable tempura. There was no "sushi rice" seasoning on the sushi that were in the bento box; it was just plain rice so you can imagine they were flavorless. And the other two items were not worth the money. We really wanted to like this place because of the high ratings and the long wait, but it fell short in every way.

Easily some of the most authentic Japanese food in Charlotte. The sushi selection is huge with some fantastic options.

Wow! I read the great reviews, but didn’t think it could match New Zealand Cafe or Rusans. I was way off. Hands down the best sushi I’ve had in Charlotte. The fish seemed way fresher and the rice was perfect. The wait staff were extremely attentive and polite. My girlfriend and I immediately decided this is our new favorite spot. We will definitely be coming back.

Mediocre flavor across the board. Ramen tasted like straight soy sauce. However, the service and cozy aesthetic of this restaurant were great. It would be a great spot if the food was better.

We came here for lunch on a Saturday. This place is small inside, I was thinking it was larger and more comfortable. The lunch menu is separate from their dinner menu and more limited. I got the Bento Box (pictured). It was so so.

Best authentic Japanese restaurant in town! Walking into the front door, feel like being at a family restaurant in Japan. Love the lunch combo, ramen, and other bowls. Fresh and authentic food!

Closest ramen I had to a ramen in Japan in Charlotte. The attention of the staff and the atmosphere is always great and chill. 10/10

Great place! Ate at the sushi bar with my friend and both of us are super satisfied with the food! I got the pork cutlet and he got the ramen bowl. Would recommend and go again!!! Also, the bathroom has an interesting bidet.
