It is a nice little hidden gem. From the surrounding neighborhood you would have never guessed there was so much hidden in their back yards. Though not everything was in bloom it was still really nice just to explore the gardens. The staff was very friendly and excited to tell us more. My biggest complaint is that it is $10 dollars per adult, but honestly for their efforts and cause I think it is a small price to pay. Though the main entrance is not wheelchair accessible if asked they can open the gates to let someone in.

Gardens are magical places; very peaceful and quiet with the exception of the beautiful sound coming from the birds & the wind moving through the leaves. In 1926 the Clarksons moved from Texas to Charlotte, they purchased a house with no trees, so they decided to make a garden and put food for the birds, and suddenly all kinds of species started visiting their place. It made me cry seeing the video of the couple who left a wonderful place to visit and spend time at. Their love for birds & all sorts of creatures still remains in that garden. It’s a spectacular place to visit for both adults and children.

It was a very beautiful garden, very peaceful and even talked to other nice visitors. Going into the houses and gardens were like walking back in time. They really work hard to make this place a wonderful experience. Lots of history and make sure to ask the wonderful ladies questions and listen to what they have to say about the gardens it's very interesting. The sun was shining and the birds were chirping, we even saw a bunny. Be sure to walk 10 houses down to view the other gardens, they will tell you all about it.

Gorgeous gardens in the middle of a nice and quiet neighborhood. $10 each per adult and you also get to see world-renowned gardener Elizabeth Lawrence's meticulously identified garden.

We have lived in Charlotte for 40 years and never visited this beautiful garden. What a lovely oasis situated in a neighborhood. Lovely, peaceful, quiet & lots of shady areas. Take your time to walk around and enjoy the beauty of nature. Highly recommend!

I’m sure this place is actually a small piece of Heaven. This home is a bird sanctuary and garden, it’s nestled right in the heart of Charolette, the owners of the home left it to the city to be preserved for future generations. There is such a warm feeling from the home, you can actually feel all the love that went into making the home and garden what it is today. We were lucky enough to have a little visitor when we were there come and land on us and spend time with us, it was truly a magical moment, and such a special day.

We held a baby shower at Wing Haven back in the spring. I'm late writing our review, but I just wanted to say what a lovely experience it was!! All of the staff were amazing in helping us plan from out of state! They gave us a tour the day prior to the baby shower because that was the day we were coming into town. The venue was perfect for an intimate baby shower worh family and friends! The gardens were lovely and we could not have asked for a better experience!

Beautiful place! Worth the $10. Took us about an hour to leisurely walk through but there's plenty of sitting areas to just enjoy the view. (Bring mosquito repellent!) Very nice and informative staff.

Such a lovely garden filled with wonder and beauty, it is beautifully planted and well planed out. Truly a hidden gem, we have driven pass the neighborhood many times without noticing a piece of heaven behind the houses. Love finding spring flowers blooming there on our first visit in February, my little toddler was fascinated by the fish in the ponds, I cannot wait to come back again🩷

Just a beautiful place with countless birds and light-hearted spirits. You can't walk out of here in a bad mood. Wing Haven was certainly one of the highlights of my trip to Charlotte, and the entire culture and history behind the place as well as its natural splendor drew me in and kept me reading about it, even after I returned home. Will be back to visit again soon, perhaps during the summer when most of the migrants return!

Our guided tour at Wing Haven today was fantastic. The guide was personable and friendly as well as knowledgeable about the habitat. Our homeschool group got to see some really neat things and the quiz questions our tour guide asked were perfect for challenging the kiddos knowledge! They especially enjoyed the children's garden to get out their wiggles after the tour. Thank you for a great educational tour!

This was taken during a visit in early November -- Elizabeth Lawrence House & Garden, a separate property also part of Wing Haven. Most of the Camellias were not ready to bloom yet (probably two more weeks). But there were more than enough beautiful flowers to see and enjoy.

Underwhelming. The garden is untidy. The only part I found beautiful was the pond with water lilys and fish. I found the Myers Park area with private houses where the garden is located much more beautiful than the garden itself. The rose garden had almost no roses. Many plants looked eaten by some insects.

I took my 6 month old cousin here and she loved it! They have so many beautiful flowers and multiple different trails/paths to follow. It feels just like a magical fairy garden! The staff was so kind and very informative. I wish I had been here as a kid because I would have been obsessed with it. Would 100% recommend this place to anyone!

The garden is beautiful, with plenty of water features, interesting plants, and of course lots of wild insects and critters to see. I definitely recommend watching the 10 minute video for some insight on the Clarksons and history of the garden. The decorations are more religious than I would prefer, but hey, it's not my garden.

Hidden gem in historical Myers Park area in Charlotte, NC. Just a few generations ago two extraordinary women named Elizabeth lived and gardened just down the street from one another.  Together, they made Ridgewood Avenue in Charlotte, North Carolina, one of the most famous addresses in Southern garden history. Their legacy continues with the addition of an outdoor exploration garden to enhance the visitors experience. The property of Elizabeth and Edwin Clarkson, Wing Haven Garden & Bird Sanctuary, is a respite for birds and other wildlife and a welcoming place to discover the beauty and wonders of nature.
