A wonderful garden west of Charlotte with a wide variety of plants, it’s sprawling and needs some time to roam through. The butterfly enclosure was amazing with different kinds of butterflies and information about them. It can get pretty hot here on a hot day. Parking is available, and the staff is polite and kind. Overall, it’s a great place to visit if you’re a plant nerd. They’re closed on Mondays and Tuesdays.

The botanical garden is a bit off the beaten path but well worth the drive. The grounds are beautiful and the plants are all well marked in case you just have to get one to plant in your own garden. In mid April 2021, not too much has bloomed yet, but the white garden is looking good. ✨Tip for 2021 - the conservatory of orchids was closed when I went. It will be closed for most of 2021. Call before you go if that's what you're excited about like I was. I was disappointed the conservatory was closed and that there isn't a nursery here. If there was a nursery, they'd make a killing. I would have loved to have purchased some of the plants/trees I saw. That said, the staff was friendly, including the attendant who gave us a discount due to the conservatory being closed and lack of blooms.

A great place to visit for their holiday lights display. It was a very calm atmosphere and the gardens were decorated beautifully. It truly felt magical and my children were very excited walking around. There were also benches all along the gardens where some people sat down to take in the views and enjoy conversation. Overall it was an amazing experience and I would highly recommend for anyone.

This was my second annual Christmas Lights event at Daniel Stowe. It felt like a whole new experience this year. The lights seemed brighter and more spectacular. The water fountains had beautiful displays. The greenhouse was stunning! We really enjoyed the 22 Street Kitchen food truck for the second year in a row. The Strawberry Cheesecake funnel cake at S&K Funnel Cakes was amazing. Even the hot chocolate at the drink bar by the food trucks was top notch! We will definitely be back next year!

It's a big garden with different types of trees and flowers. They had a few different fountains, a pound, shelter, and a lot of benches where you could sit and enjoy this beauty. I love orchid orangery. It's a different building where you can see different types of orchids and waterfall there. It's a nice place to visit with family or with your partner. And also you can have a wedding ceremony there. I wish they could work longer than till 4 pm, cause in the evening it might be wonderful to be there and enjoy the nature

Sip n paints at The Botanical Garden are a great price and very different than your normal sip n paint. We booked the class through their online website, which was quick and simple to navigate. We did not know what to expect but were greeted right away soon as we entered the facility by the lady front desk. She pointed us in the right direction for the class. I loved that we were able to pick from a book of pictures to paint. The teacher was very friendly and gave us tips along the way to create our masterpiece. The ticket also came with 2 glasses of wine and a snack not paid for the price. I think it was well worth it and more.

Absolutely fantastic! Went for the summer lights show for my wife and I's 2 year anniversary. It was absolutely breathtaking. We spent almost the full 2 hours exploring. We made sure we to not miss anything! The music and animated lights were an amazing touch. Can't wait to return for more fun events. Next up is the summer concert!

There were definitely some lovely specimens here, but I was shocked by how many weeds and other invasives were part of the landscape. We're only a month post-winter, and the garden was overrun by many plants that should obviously not be part of a botanical garden. I also noticed multiple fire-ant beds, some abutting the walking paths. Another garden I visited this week uses volunteers. I wonder if Daniel Stowe has considered bussing senior citizens into the garden to assist with maintenance? And, please, stop butchering the bottoms of the azaleas! When one cuts back too much, the bushes look dead underneath. The garden has such potential though...

Nice place to learn about flora. Has some huge Crape Myrtles and native trees near the gardens. It has places for kids to play and some neat artwork. Fountains are a little over the top. Trail system adjacent to the gardens is one of the best ideas albeit on the lake you do see overly manicured yards with heavy chemical application that drain into the lake. And there is quite a bit of mowed area near the Gardens and around the entrance road which precludes natives from growing. Would be nice to see a community garden.

I visited the Botanical Gardens while visiting the area. We went to check out the lights. It was something fun to do. While we did enjoy it I will say it was a bit confusing. No map is provided and you aren't given any direction as to where to go. It's also quite dark and hard to see the walkways at times. Everything looks great and the staff we did encounter were very nice. But it would have been nice if there were dim lights along the path to see where you're going. Beautiful lights and plenty to look at. There's also a stand with hot chocolate and other drinks towards the back and you can sit by a fire pit to warm up. Another issue we had is getting to the main entrance. Our GPS brought us to the back entrance for deliveries only and we had to figure out how to get to the front. There is no signage pointing the way and from the road the main entrance is a ways away. If you go to the back enteance, go back out go the road and tien right, you'll get there down the road. Other than that we did enjoy.

Decent garden. The grounds are well kept. I do feel they are missing opportunities for so much more though. The conservatory was closed, some of the fountains are just barren. They do have art pieces around the garden and at least one trail that go under a canopy of trees that doesn’t look like many people go to. You can buy an alcoholic beverage and walk around, but then you basically need to hold it till you get closer to the front since they don’t have many trash receptacles.

Lovely Christmas lights, a pretty easy walk. Lots of great photo opportunities, hot drinks, fireplaces, s'mores kits for sale, and food trucks on site. Staff was kind and helpful, facilities were clean. Only complaint was the need for walk way lighting, when making our way to the food truck and drink area the walking path was not very well lit at all creating a potential trip hazard, I'm young and had to pull out my phone flashlight to feel comfortable. Other wise it was a beautiful experience!

It was our last night in Belmont and the gardens were only 1.5 miles from the house we rented. When researching the area I read in the month of July & August on weekends they opened the gardens up at night for Summer Lights. It was a great night being able to see the beauty of the flowers and plants before the sun went down but in cooler weather. Once the sun was down, the lights were pretty and a great way to end our vacation.

We have been wanting to come here for some time. I would say I’m a little underwhelmed with the visit. Honestly, the gardens that are free at the UNC is actually better. However that being said, it was a nice garden. We did feel that many places seemed to be lacking care which is not what I would expect for the price tag of admission. I would like to return some time and see if perhaps we just came at the wrong time.

They have a butterfly bungalow and I invited my sister to visit together. It was a very soothing/calming experience. Go any day to need a mental break from the hustle and bustles of life and it’ll take you right down in all the right ways! The first stop had a tropical vibe to it and made us nostalgic regarding country life in st. Mary Jamaica. It smells like our grandmother’s yard with some similar tree/ plant. The venue itself is beautiful. My sister and I took a long relaxing walk together talking and enjoying the view. There was also a wedding to be held later that day.

When the dogwoods bloom in the upcountry we plan at least a day or two to visit Daniel Stowe Botanical Gardens. The garden has something for every interest and fitness level and is well suited for seniors and children. Seniors 60 and over receive special discounts. They also have many special events year round that make this a great place to purchase a membership. Pictures below are from their summer Glass Granda Flora Exhibit. Please click on their web link for more details and photos of events.

Nice place and they are working hard but it needs a LOT of love. The bark in the beds was from last year, worn out and missing in many places. Weeds were over growing many of the flower beds. The had a ginkgo tree in the conifer area. Why? Anyway, I’ll continue supporting them but the gardens need a plan and some elbow grease. The orchid house was definitely the highlight of my visit.

Daniel Stowe Botanical Gardens is SUCH a gem of a wedding venue. As a wedding photographer, I always appreciate when venues have BOTH amazing indoor and outdoor locations for couples. Whoever you have your wedding at Daniel Stowe, you get just that! The conservatory, surrounding gardens, and ceremony space are all unbelievably stunning. I cannot say enough good things!

The rotunda at the Daniel Stowe botanical gardens is a beautiful Stainglass from a church in Canton Ohio from the early 1900s. The orchid building is interesting and has lots of beautiful orchids and unusual plants. The orchid building is the most interesting thing there. Perhaps it was the time of year that we visited (April 01), but not much was in bloom outside, aside from pansies, an apple tree and some other small flowers. The botanical garden is a good size, and it is relaxing and well laid out. However, we were very disappointed, that there are not very many signs explaining the various plants, flowers and trees. Most of the flowerbeds are not well weeded and many of the beds and displays are in need of attention. It is an interesting place to visit, but not sure if it is worth the ticket price. Perhaps it will be better in May or summer?

So much potential, good bones. But I would agree with other reviews that it appears there is a money or staff issue. Nice plantings that have not been weeded, pruned or refreshed. The arbor is eaten up. Hope it's just covud staffing because it's a beautiful place

This was a very lovely facility. The entrance was beautiful and it looked like there were classes one could sign up for (people were doing a painting class when we showed up). The orchids were gorgeous and the butterfly exhibit was a lot of fun. We were expecting larger gardens and variety for the price, however. Still, very beautiful and it was nice to walk around for an hour or so.

Really with five star vision and space, it needs the community and benefactors to step up and love it back to pre-pandemic aspirations. Encroaching development and traffic could derail some of its charms, but those also make more urgent the need for its pastoral embrace. Even on a largely bloomed-out late afternoon in fall, the foliage and design bones of the place were inspiring. The plantings are not as creative and diverse as they once were, and a few sections like the orchid area are either overgrown or filled with too many plants available retail locally and with not enough botanical variety. It may need fresh eyes in leadership to avoid just being a pedestrian park. What's very good and worth several visits now could be even grander.

Great place to relax and be in nature! We went s few weeks ago when it was still a little chilly outside, so there weren't many flowers out yet We went to the Orchid Conservatory towards the end of the trail and it was such a great place with so many different cacti, plants and orchids to see! We also visited the gift shop and there were so many great gifts you could buy, including small business items they sell there. Everything was so beautiful here and we look forward to coming back in the spring!

The Daniel Stowe Botanical Garden is the best place in North Carolina to visit for holiday lights, really puts Raleigh’s Christmas lights to shame. The entire garden is covered in thousands of glowing lights. There are beautiful colorful walkways and arches for pictures. There was even a section featuring Chinese New Year lanterns.

One of our favorite nearby gardens! We had been a few times on prior years and last year finally got the annual family membership. It’s definitely worth it to get the annual pass if you plan to come more than once and have a couple children. It pays for itself after the second visit. (Sometimes even the first with more children!) loved the perk of getting to see the holiday lights for free on members day last year! It was beautiful! Our favorites are the conservatory and the butterfly garden when they open from Memorial Day. We also got to participate in the butterfly release in October and that was pretty amazing. Definitely in the top 10 places to see in the Charlotte area.

I attended a private event held by my employer, so I cannot comment on purchasing tickets in advance or wait times. The gardens were beautifully lit at night, and the light show set to music was nice.

I’ve lived in Charlotte for about a year and never visited this particular garden. Now visiting I figured it would be a great chance to walk around and immerse myself. Upon arrival the staff was very kind and professional explaining how to access the garden, where restrooms were located, and some of the must see parts of the garden.
