I come here often and I always get to enjoy the nature trails as well as the fishing grounds. I've attended numerous birthday party events for the little ones. They have a field big enough for festivities to take place. Overall a great park hands down!

I love trail running here with my dogs. Great loop that hits the lake where the dogs cool off in the middle of the run before we continue on. Solid variety of trail distances for everyone, most primary paths are wide enough for two people, some narrow to single track.

Beautiful sprawling escape from the bustle of the concrete jungle. All kinds of fishing, coves, deep cat, lots of cover for spawning bass. Great place to explore to teach young folks about appreciating nature. Yes there are trails, however it is generally considered rude to carry on a loud phone conversation while on trails. Put the phone down and breathe it in. 10/10 recommend.

Great local hiking! There are a lot of miles to explore with lake views all around. Lots of dogs on the trail; please keep them on a leash for the rest of our dogs' sake.

Awesome place to visit. A window into the past. Walk or ride horses over miles of paths. Or check out the buildings, house, kitchen farmhouse, barn Raptor house. Some of these have a separate entrance fee. Just so much to see and do. Nearly 1500 acres of woods, farmland and nature trails to enjoy.

Lots of trails here but pay attention because they wind around and intersect, and aren't always marked well. Take a picture of the map to have with you. But finding the little beaches on the lake was a treasure. Kids loved it. Highly recommend!

We went there to fish today. There were people there, on jet skis, canoeing, paddle boats.. you have your exercisers, your fishers (me 😁) your bird watchers over at the raptor house & hospitals.. but because the reserve is so HUGE, you hardly bump into anyone, unless you're on the water. We wound up leaving though, due to too many people in the water everywhere we tried to fish. Of course the fish were running in hiding like we eventually did. Kinda sad, but I got to do a lot of walking & embracing nature.

I love this place. Great for kayaking because there are no jet skis or speed boats allowed on weekends. One of the area you can paddle to has a picnic table and shade for a perfect day of picnicking and paddling.

Great walking trails. Plenty of parking and signage. Watch out for the horses and poop. Otherwise a good day out. Would go again with the family

I was here on a rainy day, and not another soul was around. I originally came for the Carolina raptor center, but like an idiot, I didn't check their hours before heading here. This was a nice walk around the edge of the lake.

Great hiking, biking, horse riding trails along the water with a kayak boat let in. Have seen a lot of folks fishing here. Nice area for a picnic.

Visited for family memorial service. Facilities and grounds were well kept. Area obviously taken care of and also noted many users. We also visited the Raptor Center trails and displays and enjoyed both. Volunteers and professionals doing a marvelous job. Bird displays well done.

It was closed but I took my dog for a walk at the trailers near the lake. VERY nice and well kept! I was impressed with how clean the areas were. Nicely naturalized picnic areas also with large swaths of green grass and clean bathrooms, too. Cannot wait to go back.

A little bit of everything here! Great trails for running or hiking. Spend a couple of hours or even the day, with various areas to hang out, throw up a hammock and grill out. Great access as well to many areas along the water. (Mountain Island Lake) -Raptor Center -Volleyball Court (sand) One of my favorite places to go to in the CLT area when I want to get outside! 🏃🏻

I walk the trails which are free. I have enjoyed past tours of the museum property and the time period based programs, however the home/museum has been closed down because of it's history as a plantation, it does appear that it is being rebranded as Latta place and hopefully will open again soon.

Spent about an hour here walking around the different aviaries. Lots of interesting and rare birds you would not normally see. I would recommend bringing some water on a warm day, as you'll be walking around for at least an hour or so. There is also a gift shop with souvenirs, as well as different drinks to buy.

I have been hiking at Latta for over 25 years. I've hiked for the first time in a long time, but this will be my last walking without a taser. While hiking with my dog, we encountered two different dogs off leash. The pit tried to attack my dog, and the other dog the owner said his dog was nice. Your dog is nice until it isn't and absolutely no one should have a dog off leash, especially a dang pit.

My five year old and I went on one of the trails by the lake and the views are so pretty. It was a REALLY hot day, but the trails are shaded. One we got to the lake, my son loved it so much, he decided to sit in it and refused to get out of it 🤦‍♀️ I would definitely go back and check out other trails, but minus the spontaneous swim by my son 😉

The house tour was very interesting; the tour guide was very knowledgeable about the history of the plantation. Getting to walk through the parlor and bed chambers of the house and explore the grounds was a great experience! It made me feel what life was like in the 1800s. Something unique and fun was seeing the plantation animals. There were sheep just grazing on grass right next to you. There were turkeys, chickens, pigs, a cow, a horse and mule near the barn and fields. Highly recommend visiting for some local history!
