What
a
gem
of
a
public
park.
We
took
my
mom
there
on
July
4th
for
one
of
her
favorite
things
to
do...have
a
picnic!
Since
it
was
a
big
summer
holiday,
and
uber
hot
in
Charlotte,
we
got
there
early.
We
had
the
choice
of
setting
up
at
a
picnic
table
under
shade
trees
or
under
the
covered
shelter,
both
with
pretty
water
views
and
close
proximity
to
bathrooms.
We
chose
the
Shelter
since
it
was
easier
for
my
mom
to
navigate
with
a
walker.
Both
options
are
manageable
for
handicap
patrons,
with
easy
access
from
the
car
to
the
picnic
areas.
There
are
many
oversized
charcoal
grills,
which
were
in
use
while
we
were
there.
Unfortunately
one
user
disposed
of
hot
charcoal
in
the
metal
trashcan,
which
started
smoking
after
they
left.
My
husband
noticed
it
and
doused
it
with
water.
Geez,
people...don't
put
hot
coals
in
a
trashcan
until
you
are
100%
sure
they
are
not
a
fire
hazard!
Smoky
the
Bear
is
watching.
Speaking
of
trashcans,
ours
were
clean
and
empty,
the
bathrooms
were
spotless,
and
we
saw
Parks
&
Rec
patrolling.
We
will
definitely
return
to
this
lovely
and
well-maintained
public
space.
Being
here
made
me
proud
to
be
a
Charlottean.
Highly
recommend!
