This is a great outdoor area in Charlotte. We brought some takeout here to eat for lunch. There's a really nice picnic shelter with about 6 or so tables. The parking lot is tiny. There were no available spots when we were there, but we were able to park at the school across the street since it was the weekend. After we ate, we walked the trail throughout the preserve. It wasn't very long - I'd guess maybe 2 miles. It was completely shaded and a nice path. It had rained recently and parts were very muddy. This is a great escape from the city. You would never know that this is right in the middle of the city since it feels remote.

Evergreen Nature Preserve is another urban gem in the heart of East Charlotte. This preserve has a winding trail that connects to Sheffield Neighborhood Park. Trail starts at the entrance on Norland Avenue and ventures into the woods after a few hundred yards. Trail is fairly marked with some muddy patches throughout. Restroom facilities at entrance were clean and well kept. Parking lot is small with room for maybe (8) cars but you can enter through Sheffield Park on Tarrington Avenue. I did a couple loops ending at Sheffield Park which was certainly a pleasant surprise ❤️❤️

A wonderful and beautiful place to take your pet or family to enjoy a nice walk. My cat LOVES this place. Expect to get muddy if it has rained earlier in the week.

I love this nature preserve. I do miss the fairy tree though. So quiet with very little foot traffic. Very shaded and sooo green 💚

Gem of a nature preserve bang in the middle of the hustle bustle of Charlotte. Short hikes but very enjoyable.

Evergreen Nature Preserve is one of my favorite parks in Charlotte! This park has beautiful scenery and plenty of trails to walk. Perfect for families, dog owners, or people looking to get active! There’s even a common building with benches if you want to work outdoors or have a meal outside. Highly recommend Evergreen Nature Preserve!

Amazing place to get away from the hustle and bustle of the city. You get just deep enough to stop hearing traffic. Dense forest and lots of animals. Some days I even see a family of deer poking around.

Beautiful little forest trails right in Charlotte! You would never know that you're still in the city. I don't usually see a lot of ppl here either. The entrance is across from a school so maybe avoid the 3pm traffic haha

Great little hidden gem in Charlotte. Feels like you’re in the woods in the mountains, great little getaway in the city. I think I prefer Reedy Creek over this one but this is by far better than something like Freedom Park for me. I prefer this over the greenways in the city too. Feels more natural and less man made.

Quick little relaxing walk in the nature. There’s few different trails available and some of them are wheel chair friendly. A really good place if nature de stresses you.

The park itself is lovely. Unfortunately, there's a problem with middle schoolers regularly smoking weed in the restrooms and picnic facilities. Someone also vandalized my car in the parking lot by sticking a metal object in my tire. I won't be going back and can't recommend it.

This is a local gem of green space in East Charlotte. It's not a huge area, but the trails are well maintained, and provide a thoughtful trail system to wander through. The trails will take you from the parking area directly to a playground and basketball court, or another trail goes to the cemetary. You could also just loop your way through the woods. In my experience, it's moderately traveled. You'll pass a few people or groups of people on a trail run or walking dogs, but you'll have plenty of time without anyone else around. Nice spot.

One of my favorite green spaces in charlotte. There are enough trail options to get in a nice walk, but easy enough for young kids to handle. Quiet and never very crowded. The facilities at the main entry are pretty nice but I also recommend entering from the Sheffield Park side which includes some wetlands with good snapping turtle watching.

I ADORE this place! It has some Pokéstops. It is usually not very crowded. The patrons clean up after themselves and everyone has been very friendly. Of course, there is VERY minimal parking. I always feel safe here. I do get turned around sometimes if I don't see the color indicators on the trees. I love to run here and if I don't feel like being in the trees there is a decent paved sidewalk that takes about 5-10 minutes to walk, right in front.
