I have visited this place before and let me tell you, it’s a beautiful park with a trail to hike near the lake. Stunning views and it wasn’t crowded when I visited. It’s definitely a fun place to relax, hike and go fishing. There are picnic tables and benches to sit down. I will definitely come back to hike other trails too.

My wife and I visited Latta on a local's recommendation and we weren't disappointed. It's a lovable Nature Preserve. We took the Hill Trail and the Split Rock Trail.

Several easy trails to hike. Picnic tables, pavilions, Kayak rentals, horse rides and an information center. A great place for families. If you're looking for challenging hikes this is not the place for you. I take my dog here a lot. She loves to cool off in the water. Latta borders Mountain Island Lake.

One of the best Mecklenburg County Parks. Many dog and horse friendly trails, easy bike paths for kids and great books along the lake front to find a boulder and read a book or have a picnic. Very kid friendly, updated welcome center with educational resources for children and educators. We love that it’s on the same road as the Raptor Center. It is the perfect park any time of the year but especially on a hot summer day when you need a place that’s 20 degrees cooler in the shade near the water and just 20min outside of Uptown Charlotte!

Lovely trails everywhere. It never gets old because it's so big and well-maintained. I wish the people who visited were more respectful and take out the trash they bring in (including discarded fishing equipment as it is a hazard to our kids and dogs) but all in all a wonderful place to be. I visit weekly, at least, with my dogs. It is not off leash friendly (yes my dogs are off-leash in the photos but they were leash walked down to the water, far off the beaten path). We all love it

A little bit of everything here! Great trails for running or hiking. Spend a couple of hours or even the day, with various areas to hang out, throw up a hammock and grill out. Great access as well to many areas along the water. (Mountain Island Lake) One of my favorite places to go to in the CLT area when I want to get outside! 🏃🏻

The nature preserve is a great way to get outside and enjoy nature. There are plenty of different hiking trails that are generally easy going. The nature center has been replaced by the new Quest center that isn't open quite yet but it looks amazing and I can't wait to check it out. Dogs are allowed on leashes and there are horse trails as well.

Love it here! This is a great park for multiple different activities. They have a ton of well marked trails for hiking, dog friendly as well as horse back riding trails. They have multiple bathroom facilities throughout the park, a nature center, pavilions, and the Raptor Center is also nestled in this park. Check out their website for various events at Quest Nature Center, including guided hikes, educational seminars, and kayaking trips.

We visit often. Last weekend we released our butterflies here. There’s a raptor center that our son likes and other fun outdoor activities such as fishing, kayaking, and paddle boarding. There are mild hikes and opportunities for gorgeous photos all over.

One of my favorite parks in the area! Amazing nature center for children that is free and accessible. Clean restrooms, kayak and paddle board only docks and large no wake zones. “No swimming” but not many people heed the warning. Well kept horse and walking trails.

We used the kayak launch to paddle board and tube, Kids had a blast. The nature center was a fun place to finish off the afternoon with plenty for the kids to do and learn!

Went backyard birding and the experience was eye catching. Got to see morning Sparrows, Cardinals red males and brown females. Indigo bunting was pretty as well. Loved it and MARY was the greatest very knowledgeable person about bird. Definitely will do more activities at this preserve

Dog friendly, large preserve with a variety of trails. Detailed maps before each trail and paths are clean. Restrooms on site leave some cleanliness to be desired but the fact they have any is wonderful.

Lots of neat little trails. Better in the fall. Cute picnic area at the end of the drive with volleyball courts.

Beautiful preserve and a great walk / hike. Some minor elevation gain. The majority of the trail we took had tree coverage. We also had a couple spots with lake access so our pup could cool off. Would absolutely visit again!

Excellent fairly easy hike around the lake. Good views of the water and beautiful foliage in the fall. Very family friendly trail and has a building called quest with restrooms and lots of parking.

We love the hiking trails, kayaking and doing activities at this park. Dogs love the water and trails. Plenty of parking with multiple locations to access the trails. Kayak launch is convenient. The hiking is mostly through woods which is a great way to stay out of the heat. Horses will use these trails so be aware. There are multiple restrooms and shelters to have large gatherings. Highly recommend!

Tons of trails in the actual preserve - you also have the Raptor Center and Quest (check hours)! Lots of each trails to hike. Historic Plantation was closed when I visited. Hikes to Buzzard Rock and Wash Rock are a must! Interesting boulders all around to explore. 20 minutes NORTH of Charlotte

First time on these trails. Walked the Hill Trail to the Cove Trail. Moderate terrain until you get close to the Catawba River. The terrain is very rocky. Trails are well marked. I will come back

One of my favorite places to take my dogs and trail run. Great double-wide, lightly graveled trails for runners and horseback riders to the lake and back.

Love love love Latta. I've been going for years, and it's changed a lot, but for the better. The trails are great, park shelters are very nice for a gathering or just a family picnic. Restrooms are usually tidy, welcome center is too. Canoes available for rent, at least, the last time I checked, and good fishing spots, including at least one decent dock out on the lake. Waterfront is gorgeous and the reserve itself is usually kept decently clean (as much as it can be for the number of visitors versus cleanup and land area). Nice for studying or working out in nature, or a casual hike. Not overly crowded, either! :)

I came early on a week day and hardly saw anyone else while checking out the trails. Loved seeing the wildlife here.

The trails are wide, flat and will maintained, my only problem is with the map and markings of the various trails. The map at the trail head did not seem to match the actual trails and the trails were not properly marked once we started hiking. We didn't get lost because the trails are very obvious but we ended up hiking further than we intended because we were looking for a trail that was on the map but didn't show up when hiking. It was fine and we might go back to check out some of the other activities but as for the hiking, we'll probably stick to trails closer to home

Wash Rock is one of my favorite places in the entire world. If you want a fire, bring a grill. The boat cops will absolutely make you put out any fire you build, even if it's literally next to the water, if it isn't in a grill. Besides that, this place is clean and fun and great year-round.
