I couldn't give this hotel any stars. If I wasn't forced to give one, I wouldn't. But their customer service was that bad. I booked a "pay AT the hotel" room a month in advanced. It was a guaranteed booking with a confirmation number. I drove 2 hours to get to Charlotte- ran into traffic as usual. Check in is 3pm on and I got to the front desk at 3:40. The front desk informed me they cancelled my room at 3:00 because I wasn't here to check in and they tried to charge me prior to getting to the hotel and couldn't. ( that's not exactly the definition of "pay at the hotel" ). She refused to give me my room even though I had a guarantee and a confirmation number. She said she could book my room again except for a higher price I couldn't afford. Being an out of towner, i had no where to go. No sleeping arrangements and all the safe, clean and decent hotels were booked that weren't $300-500 a night. The only room I found had homeless people sleeping in the parking lots and drugs on the corner. I felt so unsafe. My was to be wonderful, relaxing weekend turned out to be a nightmare because this hotel would not honor my guaranteed booking. THAT'S POOR POOR BUSINESS.

We reserved a king with a pull out couch. We booked last minute so we didn't have many choices. The room smelled like pickles and when we turned the heat on the smell grew stronger. We had to choose between a yucky burnt pickle smell or being cold. The leather sofa sleeper was half leather -half miss matched cloth and not clean. something was splattered along the bottom (pictures provided but not the best). Behind the trash can in the bathroom on the wall in the bathroom was a yellow splatter. I think if I had brought some chlorox wipes and some air freshener with I would have enjoyed our stay a little more. The king bed was comfortable enough but the pull out couch was not comfortable. A mattress protector or sheets were not provided for the pull out bed. We were too tired to wait for someone to bring them. Luckily, we brought our own blankets and pillows. The gym was nice but wipes or cleaning supplies were not available to clean after use -I was not prepared to bring wipes of my own, so I skipped it. It was easy to book on price line, but we payed too much. The staff were friendly enough. There is a nice breakfast. I am sure they are doing the best they can with the world being short staffed.

first let me say the people at the front counter were extremely nice and accommodating. the room is another story. I am not looking for luxury in $129/night hotel but do expect cleanliness. the room was disgustingly dirty. I took my shoes off and within minutes the bottom of my socks were black. there were stains all over the carpet. my daughter found hair in her bed that was not hers, the shower was rusted and my wife found spiders in it. we stayed one night however there was a large light (meant to light up side of building) shining into our window I would not recommend this hotel for any reason except the customer service .

I was delighted by the absolute 5-star experience at this so-called 2-star hotel! We called Nova at the front desk late at night around 11pm to see if this place had any last-minute availability after our reservation at a different hotel didn’t work out due to limited wheelchair accessibility. He was extremely accommodating and even went above and beyond to make sure the room would be suitable for my family’s large wheelchairs and disability equipment! Likewise, Shanika at the front desk helped my friend book a late-night reservation when she arrived the following night. And every morning, Danielle helped my brother (who is in a wheelchair) make a delicious cup of coffee! Our room was perfectly spacious. The beds were cozy. And everything smelled nice, fresh and clean! If we return to Charlotte in the future, our family will definitely be booking a reservation this hotel again. I can’t express how much we loved our stay!!! Highly recommend.

I could not be any more pleased with a hotel or their service. Every need is met and solved. From Danielle at the front desk. She is absolutely amazing and courtesy. I do not believe the hotel would run as smoothly without her. The maintenance to the maids. I have stayed here frequently and will only be staying at this location

Strongly Recommended: My brother and I stayed here for a few days and never faced any issue. Prices are reasonable and the room was clean. Additionally, Danielle who is front desk employee/recipient was very very helpful! She is very polite and always had smile on her face. All in all, I think 5 is a fair score.

Overall the hotel was ok. The room I got was a little run down and could definitely use a good cleaning. There where ref stains on the carpet and some stuff on one wall. The lady that worked the front counter during the day was very nice and accommodating to any requests. We where in town for a football tournament and the Manger closed the indoor pool while we where there. Would have been nice to allow the boys to be able to use the pool to keep them busy in the free time. Breakfast was good for a hotel continental breakfast and the staff making breakfast did a great job keeping the food stocked with three football teams eating them out of everything.

The person at the front desk, Nick, went above and beyond to help my husband and I after a long and frustrating experience at the airport. Nick ensured our reimbursement for the hotel stay and even offered his personal cell phone charger for us to use overnight. He was extremely helpful and professional. Nick definitely sets the bar high for customer service!

Poor stay. Horrible customer service. The sorely understaffed crew was rude, belligerent and not hospitable. Had to change rooms several times because of issues with the rooms (no TV, light bulbs out...). One reason I chose was for breakfast, but breakfast was a joke. Nearly all items were missing. I waited for about an hour while they tried to restock, but they ultimately told me breakfast was over and they would not restock. If I could give them less than 1 star I would. Would not recommend.

My thanksgiving stay was excellent! We felt at home. The staff was super friendly. They offered a hot breakfast, rooms were super clean perfect for 1 adult 3 kids. My family got the 1 bd room. Location is good. And pricing was under 120 even on weekends. Walking distance from lynx blue line and next station is jw clay where the board walk is. I was sad to leave that's how comfortable my family and I were. I recommend this place if you're interested in convenience.

We picked the hotel for the location close to the Charlotte Speedway for the Auto Fair in September. The king "suite" was very spacious, a lot of extra room but the mini refrigerator "cube" was on the floor tucked in a corner nearly behind the sofa. So we had to get down on the floor to see inside, and it wouldn't hold much either. There was no way to regulate the temperature, so everything was either frozen or not cold enough. Fortunately we had a family beach trip the week before, so we had 3 extra coolers that we had to keep full of ice for our drinks and extra food. There was plenty of room in the "sink" cabinet that could have fit a larger fridge, that used to be there. We were told that all these brand hotels were switching to the tiny cube fridge. Major disappointment for the size of the room and the cost. The bathroom door hit the toilet every time it was open, so it was cramped. The smoke detector was falling off the wall with exposed wires. So if Choice Hotels are cutting back on amenities just to save their wallets, then we will not be staying in any of them.

TL;DR: great room, poor breakfast. Easy check-in (we walked in without a res late at night), the young man at the front desk was friendly and delightful. Pristinely clean (kudos to the housekeeping staff); clean enough to walk on carpet barefoot. Bathroom is your typical low-ceiling space, hastily renovated by slapping waterline-high, solid stone-colored panels on shower walls, held together by a half-inch wide, sloppy caulk job - not fancy, but fresh and pleasant. And sparkling clean. They still use spring mattresses (so you can feel your partner's every turn), not very thick, and barely any padded layer on top of the springs. We've only slept on foam or air for years, so it was a rude awakening. The mattress also has a fair amount of give - we slept fine, but could be too soft for someone with a bad back. Sheets bright-white and fresh. Room very quiet - no sound at all from outside or from any neighbors (even though it was almost fully booked and we heard people enter neighboring rooms). Perfectly black-out curtains, and a nice view on some trees and nature. Yes, oddly dim LED lighting in the sitting area (we received a suite) but not a big deal. AC was on in the room even though it was late October, but it warmed up fast enough after we switched to heat - a bit of burning smell as the unit turned over to heat, but it passed quickly, nothing to get excited about if you're in this situation. Surprisingly good coffee in the room and common area. But sadly, breakfast was indeed very bad - I never believed it's possible until this stay. The scrambled eggs were truly gross - not only made from powder, but further cut with flour or starch. I actually couldn't finish and threw them in trash, for the first time in my life! The waffle machine was broken, and instead of making up for it with some pastries, they had a single variety of mini-muffins and no other baked goods. But all in all, incredible catch, considering the very reasonable price and the horrifying reviews for virtually everything else around Charlotte under $$$$. Would definitely stay again, and probably the only place I would stay if I ever had to visit again.

This was an amazing experience for my family. Very clean, they sanatize everything, clean the rugs with a heavy duty machine I mean efficient. I am impressed. although the pool is closed, I wish the pool was open it looks amazing. Everyone is really nice I appreciate you all for being here I would have liked the price to be a bit better. It is probably best not to go through a 3rd party. The atmosphere is calming. I absolutely love the section where the plants are for you to relax . I am impressed and thankful at the same time. P. S I'd hope to stay here free a couple of times with my family I love it here. Complements to the chief I admire her dedication. Thank you to every employee that worked on this day stay amazing

I’m not sure how to respond to my original review, below is my review and your reply, which is actually a lie. I left around 3, and house keeping was still there and you did not answer 3 voicemails I left. Other than being a filthy hotel, terrible customer service you can add blatant lies to the list against staying here I was planning on staying two nights but I had to leave early, I let the front desk know at 2.30pm and asked about a refund, they said not possible, cleaners had left and they could not rebook my room. I left my room and the cleaners were still working on my floor so asked again on my way out and they said, our manager is not here, we can not authorize that. I have left three messages, no0 one has called back. This hotel staff have been unhelpful, the hotel is also not clean. My room smelt of smoke/sweat and chemicals. Like Response from the owner 47 minutes ago We would like to thank you for staying at the Country Inn & Suites, Charlotte University Place and sharing your feedback. We are concerned to hear that you were not quite satisfied with your visit and experience, mainly with the refund you are requesting. Both manager have already spoke to you and unfortunately the refund was declined because you did not leave the room until around 4:30pm. Our housekeepers were finishing up for the day and we were not able to get the room cleaned that day. We do apologize that this caused you an inconvenience.

This place/Staff is awesome. I needed a shower chair. The lady made sure I had one. When I was leaving Erica, help me with cart and pack my car. I have lymdema and the staff was so kind. I even enjoyed the conversations. I recommend highly that you stay here when visiting. The place also was very clean. Thank you. Ms Bowman

Freaking awesome room 😲❤️ Got a king bed, non smoking with a hot tub. Hot tub jets did not work😥 But I had a good time anyway. I will go back again and hopefully the jets will work🙂😎

Good sized rooms. Friendly staff, pleasant to work with. Stains on carpet and upholstery and the mediocre water pressure were disappointing. Room had a bit of a musty smell. The "complimentary" shampoo and lotion looked used. The grab and go breakfast was an unheated sandwich, fruit, and a granola bar, and after having hot breakfasts everywhere else in this trip, it was disappointing. The linens and towels were clean and creatively folded. Good location, close to restaurants and a Wal Mart. I'd probably give it a 3.5.
