Worst hotel experience of my life. Came down here for a couples vacation planned with the normal activities: sitting by the pool, spa, room service, etc.. We were excited to enjoy the full resort experience; boy were we disappointed. We originally planned to stay for 3 nights but checked out a day early because the experience was so bad. Even checking out required an hour long argument with the manager. Let me start from the beginning... The room we paid extra for with "views of the golf course" was a construction site. No mention of this on the website and certainly not reflected in the nightly rate. It was dirty, the bed was hard, the balcony had a colony of roaches living on it. Called for pillows at 4pm and never received them. We were not notified that housekeeping was by request only and even when we requested it, they never came. 20% gratuity. included because they know the service is terrible. Room service was same quality as a Denny's. When we checked out, the bellboy never showed up after 40 minutes of waiting. Only redeeming part of this trip is that the spa experience was great and the staff there were quite nice and talented. Everything about staying at the hotel was a nightmare and I will not be staying at another Marriott if this is their definition of 'luxury'.

First, our room was great, clean & well appointed. We did stay at the Villa though... We wanted to eat poolside, we have kids, but the pool closes at 8p and the pool restaurant closes at 3p. SO we went to The Restaurant at the suggestion of the front desk. Food took over a hour& was terrible, service was awful, never asked to refill our bar drinks, half the stuff we ordered was forgotten. Inside pool was cloudy & gross. Finally the construction is terrible to the point it is difficult to get around the property. The Homewood Suites & DoorDash nearby is your better bet!

Our stay was in January 2015. Wonderful place. Felt very high end. We had a lovely room to enjoy for just a quick weekend away. We ordered in room dining services. It was great 👍 we even visited the spa before departing for home. If you read this please click "like"... it helps my feelings. Thanks 😊

A friend and I went to have the fancy tea one heard so much about and I have to say, I was not wowed. Perhaps my expectations were a bit high, considering this is one of the most reputable, luxury hotels in the city, but I digress. We had to ask for sugar and milk with the tea and our waitress didn’t come back to check on us very much. We couldn’t tell if it was because the gratuity was included or if we were just being neglected. Overall, the sandwiches and desserts where pretty good. I just expected AMAZING for over $100. Which is fine to pay if I feel like my dollar is valued and the quality of the experience overall is worth it. I personally would not recommend it. I just heard a coworker say they had a similar experience over the weekend as well, so at least I know it’s not just me. I really wish I had a better review to share.

Stayed for our 30th anniversary for 4 days. The staff were attentive, rooms were very clean, the food was excellent and the spa was an extra bonus. I was disappointed the concierge did not follow through with the list he said he would place under our door for suggestions of activities but Google did just as well. And apparently my husband requested rose petals on bed for the first night but they forgot. The snack waiting for us was in room upon arrival. Denny in the spa was amazing and I highly recommend the reflexology.

Sprawling property with spacious rooms and a peaceful ambience. The outdoor pool area features ample seating. The building and grounds are very on park and have a lake, will be beautiful without the construction across the way. We were on 2 floor and room was spacious and clean.

Disappointed with the stay overall. Hotel itself is okay and some of the staff members were very nice. There was a problem with the thermostat and the room would get really hot at night. Totally understand things can break down etc. even in nicest of places but you expect the problem to get addressed. However, despite repeated requests to front staff and manager, the problem remained and did not get fixed. A engineering guy, who was nice enough, came once and said thermostat has issues but keep monitoring the temp and it should get adjust itself. After Three sleepless nights and I have decided I will never stay here again. Indoor pool was closed which also was not disclosed at the time of booking. Limited on site dining options. Positives include Rooms are quiet and roomy. Fitness center is nice.

The main reason I chose this Hotel is because my lady and I wanted a nice hotel with great amenities, a balcony view and a nice tub that is separated from the shower. I even called before making the reservation to see what type of room I should book in order to get everything I wanted. When I checked in, they told me I would have to choose between either having a room with the tub or having a room with a balcony view. I didn’t make a big fuss about it but I was very disappointed. Also the hot tub is very small and was full every time we tried to get in. We tried ordering breakfast to the room the morning we checked out so we could do a “breakfast in bed” kinda thing AND THE FOOD NEVER CAME TO THE ROOM. Everything else was good, very clean place and very hospitable service, I just don’t think I got everything I paid for. I visit Charlotte often but I probably won’t be coming back.

The hotel was great, and made us feel welcome. Staff was wonderful. They greeted us every time and helped whenever necessary. Hotel restaurant was excellent. There are plenty of alternate food options within a half mile of the hotel. There is construction going on behind the hotel, but the finished product looks like it will be amazing. Construction noise was non expiating, but our stay was on a weekend. Pool area was fun for the kids, nothing crazy, but adequate. My only gripe would be we had a spa credit but were unable to book a time during our stay, so the credit went unused. Overall great experience. The hotel exceeded expectations, and we will stay again.

I am floored with excellent service. One of the guest concierge Patrick went above and beyond in helping me. This kind of kindness is never to be forgotten and created a loyal hotel guest on the spot. The room is clean, the bed is comfy. The bathroom towels are of the highest quality and are so soft. I got a thank you hand written note and a bottle of water next to a glass on the night stand when I came back from dinner. I will return to Charlotte just to stay at The Ballantyne.

I came here for an event and stayed one night. When we arrived, and very nice porter took care of everything and took us to our room. Rooms were very clean, as well as the overall hotel. Staff was extremely friendly and helpful. The view was nice, and the hotel is actively working on making it even better with upgrades. The price to performance is quite decent. I recommend this place if you're looking for somewhere luxurious to stay!

We had a lovely visit at the Ballantyne. Impeccable room service, great coffee in the morning, and a wonderful time at the Spa. Christine McManus, Master Massage Therapist gave me the best massage I’ve had in years!!! Ask for her. My daughter said she received excellent service as well.

This was a great place to stay. The staff was great. We utilized the shuttle during our stay. The driver Benjamin was wonderful. He assisted us in selecting places to eat. On Saturday we had the pleasure of meeting Jeffrey. He was a perfect gentlemen. He got out opened the doors and assisted us in and out. Both of them were great!! The breakfast was great at the hotel restaurant and in the evening we loved the ladies at the bar connecting to the restaurant. The grounds are spacious and we had a nice stroll.

My fiancé and I celebrated our 1 year anniversary for a luxury staycation. The room was really nice and the bathroom set up was my favorite part. Our room had the bathtub and show separate. Marble flooring all throughout with bathrobes & slippers to match. We even had a balcony which was really nice to sit on and watch the sunrise. The price for one night at this time is $400 so be mindful of that. This is definitely not a frequent occurrence destination, more so for special occasions only. It may or may not be worth it but we had a romantic time to say the least.

We really enjoyed our stay here. The hotel is very nice and the staff is very friendly. The location is great. The kids played on the park that is next door but feels like it’s part of the hotel. The pool area is great as well.

We stayed here for one night wanted to stay another night but after the very LARGE ROACH in the bathroom decided against it. Informed front desk the young girl at desk was awesome but the gentleman acted like he gets calls for roaches all the time so there for no big deal. Thank you for response. But I won't be returning.

My best friend & I booked our room & spa services for our girls’ getaway about 6 months in advance. A couple weeks in advance of our visit we received some inaccurate spa service confirmations. We called & left messages for days before beginning to leave messages for managers & finally getting a response from the spa assistant director. Thankfully, she was able to correct everything. When I was walking off my plane in Charlotte at 7:15pm the day before services, I received a call from the spa letting me know my therapist was sick & they needed to make a change & would have a male therapist for me. I requested a female & said no thanks & to please rearrange in some other way because our services were booked months in advance. After several phones calls the spa let me know they figured it out. This was a hectic & infuriating experience less than 24 hours before the service at a destination spa. Upon checkin we asked if they had placed the non feather pillows in the room we requested. The front desk staff acted confused & said they’d check. We never got alternative pillows or any follow up. The visit at the spa the next morning was phenomenal. Danielle and Courtney are TOP NOTCH estheticians. Our pedicures were great too. We returned to our room at 3:30 to find it unattended to. Called front desk & asked about service & they were very confused. They had no idea whether the rooms should be serviced or not or only on request. After much back & forth at this self branded ‘luxury’ property I asked for a manager to reach out. Instead I went to the desk to resolve the issues in person. I began speaking with the man sent out as a manager. Explained everything & in the end he asked if I wanted a manager! He was sent to speak to me as a manager & I guess it was too much for him to address. I told him we were going to relax & change & we’d like a manager to reach out at 5:30 and housekeeping at 6. He said fine. In the meantime the front desk girl called our room back & spoke with my friend who requested the same thing - service at 6pm. Twenty minutes later, just after 4 housekeeping knocked and woke us up! We asked her to return at 6. We returned to the spa for massages. Worst massage ever - I asked to conclude the service early - which was so nerve wracking because I’d never done that before. Ninas touch was not gentle or relaxing. She used so much oil in my scalp & on my body that it dripped into my face & onto the sides of my body more than once. She rubbed so repetitively and vigorously - never attending to a single area but just glaring over my entire head at once or my back. And her hands were also very rough. I felt like my head and back would be rubbed raw. I spoke with the spa director and explained. I asked her to ensure our Sunday services were not with Nina & asked for a prorated bill to cover the portion of the service I stayed for. She comp’ed the entire service which I appreciated because no part of it was relaxing or enjoyable. The next morning, Saturday, Alan the actual manager met us at breakfast. We discussed our fun and he apologized & said it would be addressed. We moved on. We went for a wine tour all day & when we returned our room was made up & Alan had left us a fruit bowl. Sunday morning we left for breakfast and returned to our room being serviced even though our checkout wasn’t until 2pm. We told housekeeping and she left. I’m gonna guess this was poor communication on the part of management again because they were unaware when we did check out before our final spa services that afternoon. Spa services that afternoon were also excellent. Body wrap/scrub and massages. Danielle and Kefiya were fabulous. Over all the hotel fell short as did spa - for luxury prices we certainly didn’t expect this many issues. Will look elsewhere next time though the few great spa therapists did hit it out of the park. Also much construction where once was golf course. Not serene.

I’m so disappointed honestly. :( I asked my husband for no gifts for my birthday except one night alone to just read books and sleep and get room service. He booked a deluxe balcony room. I just checked in and was put on the ground floor. It’s super loud in the hall and I can hear people’s full conversations and doors slamming constantly. I look out the window and I feel like I’m literally *in* the parking lot. I called to ask if I could possibly move to another balcony room on one of the floors not on the ground. They couldn’t help, but said they could down grade me to one without a balcony but would not refund the difference. I’m honestly just super sad as this is my one day all year to do this and be a mom with no kids and just rest and relax. Its a lovely hotel, but I really wish I would have requested somewhere else. Last year here was perfect, but this is the opposite of what I wanted. I kind of want to bail and just go home. If you consider booking for the same, please know if it’s busy they might just put you wherever and have you deal with it. No one will go out of their way to make sure you’re happy.

The staff, rooms, room service, food, bar and spa services are wonderful. Watch out for “service fees”. Let’s just say a facial costs $400. On top of the cost, the resort will charge an $85 “service charge”. This is not gratuity, it is a service charge, on top of the actual cost of the service. Just beware.

Our stay here was great. The one thing that I find missing these days is friendly and caring hospitality, and it was refreshing to find this in every staff member we interacted with at this hotel. Every time I talked to anyone working at this hotel, there was always a smile and a genuinely effort to make my stay as awesome as it can be. It was a work trip so I didn’t use much of the extras at the hotel, however I did eat at the restaurant and food was good. What distinguishes this stay from many other hotel stays was the great hospitality.

We loved our stay here! The hotel is clean and the rooms are gorgeous! We stayed in a king size balcony room and had the best time. We had an oversized tub in room perfect for a bubble bath. We didn’t use the pool or hot tub but both looked nice and clean. Overall, great stay!

Thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Staff was so friendly and helpful. Nakia was an informative valet. John at the Gallery restaurant was welcoming and engaging. We asked for him each day. The afternoon tea was a delight. Everything was positive about our stay and we hope to stay again.

First of all, let me start out by saying that I am a lifetime titanium elite Marriott rewards member (1817 nights) and I’ve been staying at this hotel for over 20 years. Literally, I have stayed here at least 100 nights and spent tens of thousands of dollars at this hotel, restaurant, spa, and previously golf and tennis. As of today, that loyalty is null and void. The staff was very rude and disrespectful to my wife, refusing to allow her to check in due to her forgetting her credit card, even though I had already checked in with a long history in good standing with Marriott and this hotel. After this, I requested a call from the manager on several occasions, and whomever this person is lacks the courage and professionalism to return my calls.

This hotel is nice but I wouldn't consider it particularly "Luxury". I have stayed in cheaper hotels with better amenities but what really makes this hotel worth staying in is the friendly staff. I hope the management understands how important good morale among the staff is in the hospitality industry because it does make a difference for the guests. We had several encounters with employees who went out of their way to make our stay wonderful, and that made it worth the extra price.

We just finished a family ‘staycation’ here at the Ballantyne and can’t say enough good things about the service at this hotel. The waiters at the pool were on point all weekend and Sal at the Gallery restaurant provided a wonderful dining experience for my wife and I. We had our two young sons with us and they were treated excellent as well. The shuttle driver was awesome as well - we really, really enjoyed ourselves and will definitely do this again. The lobby, rooms and pool were all in excellent shape. A great weekend had by all.

Lovely hotel. Clean and modern design. Lots of fresh flowers throughout. Great lobby area. Nice pool and workout area. The rooms were excellent. Lots of space. Cozy beds with pillows and blankets that were soft. Nice robes. Big bathrooms with a tub, shower and nice toiletries. I had room service and it was nice and delicious. I had the avocado toast and coffee. Nicely present. Fresh and hot. Friendly service. I also ate at the restaurant and bar. Both were excellent. Nice service and delicious food. The scallops and asparagus were delicious. The Caesar Salad was also tasty. Everything was really good. Service was really nice. I didn't have time for the spa or tea but they looked amazing. I will have to be back.

Hotel is beautiful, service was fantastic. They are doing construction so it’s not the prettiest view from the balcony right now but we didn’t encounter any noise or anything and the plans for the site look awesome! If you run into Reginald and one other younger valet guy, your stay will be even better. They are the nicest staff members we have ever encountered at a hotel. Their bubbly personalities and big smiles make it hard to have a bad day here. They went above and beyond when our daughter hurt her finger and brought her cookies and milk. So thoughtful!

I had a mostly good experience at this hotel. The staff was very friendly and professional. There is construction going on behind the hotel, but we didn’t hear any noise from our park view room. The room was nice though one day a roach did enter the room probably from the balcony. We didn’t see any other bugs. The electricity flickered for one of the lamps in the room when the hotel started filling up with more guests. My cousin and I got followed by a strange male staff member of the hotel when we went to the pool late at night. Eventually he did leave us alone. Overall though I would stay here again. It’s also in a very nice convenient area

Our trip from the reservation to checkout was fabulous. The young gentleman at the front desk was so friendly. The entire hotel is spotless. We are at the bar upon arrival and food was great, staff too. Each night the sleep was peaceful in comfort and quietness. We stayed on the 7th floor with balcony. Room service for breakfast was scrumptious and they even had a beautiful purple rose with our order. We failed to read The information on not removing the drink contents in chiller so our initial bill had the few bottles we took out to chill our water but the gentleman at the front desk credited our bill back upon checkout because we didn’t use the items. We will be back. It was a great getaway for my husband and I.
