I recently had the misfortune of staying at Spring Hill Suites by Marriott in Charlotte, and let's just say it was more like a Spring Hill Nightmare. The hotel was a hot mess, with broken furniture and equipment scattered around like a frat party gone wrong. The stains on the carpet looked like an abstract art piece, and the walls were so dirty, I'm sure they were auditioning for a role in a horror movie. The staff, while friendly, were completely oblivious to the deplorable conditions of the hotel. I would not recommend staying here to anyone, for any reason. Management and corporate should do better and make some serious improvements here. TLDR: see photos. PS: if management sees this review and would like to chat further, I’d be happy to share more details of my experience.

Hotel is under heavy construction. They should not be booking stays without notifying guests of the condition the hotel is in. Only one elevator available to use. Pool is drained and TV system has been down for multiple days with no news on when it will be fixed. Staff is polite but ineffective at alleviating problems the most they can do is change your room.

I am staying at Springhill Suites University Research Park and will be here for (11) days. I had to comment only after one night that this is the most pleasant stay at a hotel in a long time. I have to say Glenda P. in housekeeping was such a delight and so accommodating. She went above and beyond to make sure I had everything I needed. Please let her know that Valerie in room (320) said once again, Thank You for everything!

We stayed 2 separate nights at this hotel, once going and once coming from Florida. The first time the bathroom in our suite smelled like cigarette smoke and 2 out of 2 boxes of chocolate milk had gone bad during our breakfast. We let the hotel know and hoped for better on the way back. The second time it was sad, the sofa in the suite was ready for the dumpster and the mattresses also need replacing (me and my wife shared a bed and we sank into the middle). When we checked in I specifically asked about pool hours and the staff told us promptly that it was open from 8am to 10pm. So the next morning I get the kids up early so we can have breakfast and go for a swim only to see that the pool was temporarily closed. Needless to say we had some very disappointed kids ( which could have been avoided if the staff told me the pool was closed upon check in)…all in all 2 bad experiences and I will never ever stay here again.

Staff is amazing! Several flights were “delayed” due to a lightning storm. At least 10 passengers arrived at Springhill Suites at 2:30am, Madison checked us all in within minutes and helped arrange transportation back to the airport. When my flight was cancelled the next morning staff offered for me to check out late so I could sleep. All shifts were extremely friendly (I was hanging out and napping in the lobby from 3 - 8pm waiting for my rescheduled flight). Very pleasant atmosphere in the lobby, the room was nice, and again the staff was absolutely incredible!

Messed up billing charged account suppose to be on also charged guest TWICE. All for same room. Three front desk employees said will take care of it. Assistant manager said "Call your bank and dispute charges" Really this is a horrible way to run a hotel.room didn't even have towels had to go to ask for them. Location was good.still trying to remove those charges..awful

The room was a little dated and the furniture was showing its age. It was still clean and comfortable. Customer service was awesome. It is off the beaten path a little but it was close to everything we needed during our stay. We DoorDashed a late dinner to the location with no issues as well.

I had the fortune to be on a business trip that resulted in our team being placed here at SpringHill. Honestly, I was not pleased with where they placed us before arriving due to the location (lack of close eateries) and nothing to do with the hotel, but I was soon after pleased. First, I was greeted by the wonderful front desk staff, consisting of Alaetra and Lenard. They were two of the most personable individuals I’ve ever encountered at any front desk staff. Both were engaging and knowledgeable about the locations surrounding eateries. They were quite engaging during my brief wait to get my room. Secondly, the rooms were clean and had a wonderful layout for separation sake. I love being at hotels with separation of space and this hotel got it right. The workout room a lot to be desired but enough to get a decent workout. The pool was closed for renovation which was a bummer but didn’t affect the grand scheme of my visit. Lastly, the complimentary breakfast did enough to feed you and helped me save some of per diem money, thank you SpringHill. SpringHill Corporation needs to be appreciative of their front desk staff because they had some of the best I’ve encountered. Even the other individuals at the front desk were very helpful and pleasant. I’ll be coming back for sure.

My bathroom/room reeked of smoke I let the front desk know and I was offered a can of Zep and told that possibly someone under my room or next to it was smoking. That was it. I wasn’t offered a new room or anything. Bathroom towel rack was broken. The sink wasn’t cleaned and had hair in it from someone that was most likely shaving. There was an old contact lens stuck to the nightstand by the bed. I don’t wear glasses so it was not mine. Definitely will not be staying here again.

Our family with kids loved the perfectly sized and clean pool, delicious breakfast, and friendly and helpful staff. Our room was huge and comfortable, great location and easy parking too. We'll stay here again next time we're in town!

Stay didn’t happen. My flight got cancelled so I called then to not cancel the reservation to let them know I would be there tomorrow. Employee confirmed we were good. Showed up the next day and couldn’t get checked and no one had any idea what to exactly do to respond in a timely manner. I ended up having to leave to make it to a meeting in time. Will never stay here. Totally unacceptable. Stay elsewhere.

Stayed here over the weekend because my daughter had a cheer competition. Everything was wonderful! Alex cheched us in and he was so nice. The room was spacious, clean and comfortable, breakfast was good and had a lot of options. When I checked out I had a question and Leonard and another girl (didn't get her name) were super helpful and kind. We will be back to this location whenever we are in the area. Thank you!

We had an excellent overnight stay at the Springhill Suites in Research Park. As soon as you walk in, it smells so fresh and clean, and the staff was very kind. Alex at the front desk even took the liberty to print out hard copies of directions to the concert we were going to (he printed a bunch out for the guests) which I thought was an “above and beyond” gesture. I normally don’t write reviews, but I think this stay truly deserves it. Thanks for making us feel welcome!

The staff was very polite and helpful. They were able to accommodate me even though the hotel was overrun with cheerleaders for the Spirit of Hope competition.

Stayed here for a business trip. Very convenient location; lots of great restaurants nearby. Very slow elevators. Room carpet had visible stains.

Combo... business turned vacation booking. Weeklong construction snafu. Front 'entryway' used as breakfast bar in the midst of ongoing construction & tracking construction dust throughout. The main doors were locked late at night, with no ongoing construction. However, remote side doors unlocked for use as main entry...sooo, I just need the keycard for my room. The desk clerk assured me she was there to protect the guests. In other matters, the day manager assisted 'select guests' with pouring coffee yet ignored the next guest waiting for coffee... that would be me. However, she did sing out her wishes for a good day to the closing elevator door as I returned to my room. I was told a 'couple of days' room service would be provided... I'm still waiting for it, which is why I've learned to bring or buy my own supplies. Did I have a conversation with anyone about my concerns... several. 2 weeks & counting... no response. Sharing more would reignite the fire in my being of the exhausting recount of my worst hotel experience in 40 years of traveling. I've booked other Springhill locations...none like this.

Staff was very nice and gave me a charger because I didn’t have one. Hotel room was averagely nice (like the pictures) but then we saw that the sink and toilet had black rust or mold around the edges, the shower floor had a brown stain, and there was a medium sized hole between the carpet and the wall connecting to the sink; there we saw a large cockroach running. That completely changed my mind about this hotel. Some of the things and furniture looked pretty worn down and dirty but it didn’t bother me as much. But two stars for the nice staff.

Awesome hotel. Great staff and service. Clean and in the process of being updated. Ignore the construction complaints, you basically can’t see anything other than a dumpster in the parking lot or a worker walking by. Free breakfast was great with breakfast sandwiches!

This is probably the cleanest hotel I’ve been to! Maria, our housekeeper did a fantastic job. Very happy with the room, the pool, the staff… The breakfast was average, what you would typically see in any other hotel, not many hot food options. Overall, the entire stay was a pleasure. Will be back for sure!

Room was very loud. I could hear people walking above me all night. Doors slamming all night. Conner at the front desk is very rude and unhelpful. If you want rest,DONT STAY HERE

Nice front desk service! Breakfast was ok. Not a lot of hot food to choose from. This is definitely not a 260 a night hotel. Which is what we paid . Dated and had to run water for shower for a few minutes died to dirty water coming out of faucet. Probably would not stay again
