Absolutely the best bar in Charlotte... If you want just a raw @$$, down to the nitty gritty, no BS, old school bar then this is the place for you... Also, if you remember the 80's and/or the 90's, then this place will bring you back and engulf you in a wave of nostalgia! And try Hamm's beer! It's so bad, that it's good!

This is a Charlotte staple! The small bar that holds it ground in a time when business are being sold and culture destroyed. Bar tender Jenny Steele is fantastic and makes you feel right at home. Two pool tables in the back of the bar. A small area in the front for live show bands!

A great place for locals and non locals alike. Everyone was chill and friendly. My husband said we have to go because it reminds him of a local bar at home with a similar vibe. Just an easy going small bar.

The Thirsty Beaver Saloon is a Charlotte must-see if you enjoy dive bars. The drinks are cheap, the jukebox is loud and the pool tables are well loved. Sandwiched between the tall walls of an apartment building in the trendy neighborhood of Plaza Midwood; the Thirsty Beaver Saloon is an emblem of perseverance and resiliency in the face of change.

I came down from Raleigh for father’s day looking for a good dive bar to kill some time and this was the perfect place. Every patron and bartender was so sweet and their prices are unbeatable compared to the other bars in the area. Will definitely be coming by again

A must!!! One of the coolest places in Charlotte. They did not want to close down when the developers showed up. The apartments had to build it. Inexpensive drinks and a cool atmosphere. Be careful playing pool. The dart throw zone is in competition with the end shots on the pool table.

Awesome local bar. Exactly what you hope for when checking out a local Charlotte staple. Get a PBR and hang out by the fire pit. A must see.

Went once, will never go back. The drinks are cheap, and the atmosphere is dingy. On top of that, witnessed public urination out in the open during the day. Then there are the motorcycle gangs that come and block the sidewalk with their bikes instead of using the parking lot. They then go racing off in the night after spending all day drinking. Would not recommend. So many better places around town to get drinks.

We just HAD to check this out on our recent visit to Charlotte. What a cool place! I love that it's tough and no fluff. Will definitely return.

Visiting from TX and a local told us about this bar. It is the cutest and the history is awesome. We had a great time, I felt like I was hanging out with the locals. I highly encourage everybody to stop by and have a drink.!

I was lamenting going to Charlotte to a friend, I had not been there since ~'89, when the Dead played the Charlotte coliseum, what is in Charlotte that I want to see? My bud told me of the Thirsty Beaver. I cannot tell you how happy I was to go. Though busy, the barkeeps moved traffic right along. Everyone there was super nice and I felt right at home.

Charlotte's best dive bar. Cheap beer a ton of fun things to look at and read all over the walls. Compact and full of personality. Go on a night where they have live music.

There in March 2015 for NCAA tournament and had a great afternoon. Owners were cool and overall vibe was outstanding. Long live the TB!

One of the best dive bars I’ve been to. Love that they blocked the development of a hideous apartment complex on their spot. Reminds of the Bugs Bunny cartoon where the skyscrapers had to accommodate his rabbit hole. I hope the residents hate this place.

Wow! This fantastic local hangout resisted being replaced by a huge apartment complex. Relaxed bar with pool table in the back , CD jukebox with various artists. Outside seating relaxed bar staff and an anyone welcome vibe
